Read my entire review because it's not all bad. Below, Tom L said, "Rivers Edge is under new ownership..." I don't know how he found out, but that helps explain the feeling of an unmaintained property. Also, the "resort" is clearly much older than it looks on the website. ||We stayed in Unit 4, Black Walnut. ||The binder, which looked like it was a decade old, had the "meet the owners" page removed. The information inside seemed hopelessly outdated. Why can't the new owners replace the binder? How much would that cost?||Inside, overall, I'd say that the treehouse was clean. The bed was comfortable. The only issues were as follows: ||(1) Communications were below par. The only way to communicate with the person/people at River's Edge was via voice phone call. I received no response to my inquiries via the website's contact form, text messaging or email. ||(2) The TV was moved to a location across from the bed. That was good, except for the fact that something was wrong with the TV, so we couldn't watch it. The "troubleshooting" information in the old, raggedy, sticky, out-of-date guest information binder had tips for troubleshooting, but the tips were for a different TV! Admittedly, we didn't go to River's Edge for the TV, but it would've been nice to have a TV that works. ||The outdated binder says to text the number to get assistance, but no one responded to my messaging.||(3) The toilet was horrendously weak. I was afraid to use it for fear of stopping it up. I had to use facilities elsewhere to avoid serious problems. ||(4) The windows need cleaning, especially the ones on top. It looks like no one has washed them for 10 years or more.||(5) One of the main windows on floor level was cracked and held together with tape. At the rates they charge, I think they could afford to replace a broken window, but they didn't. That's cheesy and says a lot about the new owners.||(6) The air conditioner was extremely loud. It sounded like it's about to break down. Also, an error light was illuminated saying the filter needed to be replaced. Does River's Edge have anyone to do maintenance?||(7) The night stands, were stained and marred, most likely due to excessive age & use. They are borderline gross. I think the night stands must be replaced as an ethical responsibility to River's Edge guests.||(8) I seriously doubt that the security code to enter the treehouse has ever been changed. Not a big deal, but a definite security risk, especially since the security gate was open and - obviously - completely inoperable.||On the good side, the river view is nice, and we enjoyed going down to the river via an ill-maintained path. Some people built a campfire, but others, like us, enjoyed sitting by the peaceful water. ||All said, the lodging cost at River's Edge was too high, considering the age and dilapidation of the property. The treehouse, however, got the job done, so River's Edge deserves at least some credit.||We don't regret staying at River's Edge, but the experience could have been much better with a little care and...
Read moreWe were in town to drive the Skyway and decided very last minute to stay the night. We were fortunate enough to get the very last vacancy available at Rivers Edge Treehouse Resort. The check-in is self service and super simple. The room was just as lovely as pictured online and SUPER clean. There’s a large TV, sofa/futon, dining table, mini coffee pot, microwave and empty fridge free to use. The king size bed had a Tempur-pedic mattress and very nice linens. There were plenty of towels, delightfully scented toiletries and the water pressure was excellent. A lovely deck with string lights and a gas grill available. Two trees grow right up through the deck and outside overhang! There is a lighted footpath to the river bank and an area for a campfire, horseshoes & cornhole and a glider bench. It was so beautiful. The only inconvenience was that there was only two medium sized bags of decaf ground coffee (no tea option) with no scoop or instructions on how much to add to the mini sized pot, and no bottles of water to use. The house is on, what smelled to be well water, with a noticeable sulphuric smell, so fresh water for coffee would’ve been appreciated. So between the water and having to guess at how much decaf only grounds to use, coffee was a bust but that’s pretty minor. It would be nice if they had a Keurig and pods. Anyhow, we really look forward to visiting again in the fall. I’ve already recommended it to a family member traveling to the area soon. As a side note the night we stayed there was a tornado watch and a strong storm… The house had movement but we felt very safe - these houses are solid! |If you go remember to bring a phone charging block for your cord as we couldn’t find any USB connection, bring snacks or groceries, fresh drinking water and maybe your own ground coffee (unless you prefer decaf). |I look forward to...
Read moreThis was a wonderful, unexpected find! We’re travelling from Northern Alberta, Canada, with no set itinerary, and once we got here and realized what a rare find it was, we checked right away to see if it was available for the next night. So we spent a second night in the Cherry Treehouse, just to relax and do nothing for a day. Perfect spot/town to do that. Check in is a breeze, very well organized and informative, treehouses are spotless, bed is comfortable, shower is great, and the owners have thought of everything, including coffee grounds and filters. The price is extremely reasonable for the value as well. Don’t pay any mind to other reviews complaining of the road noise, anyone that even mentions it is grasping at straws and clearly hasn’t done any research on Hwy 129, and the location of this property. 129 isn’t a road that is heavily travelled in the dark, it’s a non-issue. Actually, just sitting at a gas station in town and watching the performance cars and bikes roll through is impressive.
The local grocery store in Robbinsville is great, with a very big selection of pre-cut fruits/vegetables in different sizes for a small town, and we won the lottery as far as the local bbq take-out joint, T.Dubbs, as we hit it just right for their Thursday evening baby back rib special. Food was excellent, and everyone we came across was friendly, our entire stay was an unexpectedly great experience. If you’re debating coming through here and see that a treehouse is available, just book it and cancel your plans for the next day. You won’t be...
