Private, secluded and relaxing, this North of Boston hotel is popular for weddings and we can see why. The Yankee Clipper Inn in Rockport offers breakfast overlooking the ocean in their sea facing veranda, the perfect way to start a vacation. Many rooms boast comfortable sun rooms and private decks with oceanside views. Yard games, bocce court and a pool overlooking the coast round out thos picture perfect spot. And for even more privacy is their Quarterdeck Inn property next door. @VisitNorthOfBoston

What an absolute gem. We booked 4 nights to celebrate my partner's 60th birthday and loved every moment of it. We stayed in the flying cloud room in the main building and it was everything we hoped for. The room has an enclosed sun porch and an outside deck, both with amazing views. Keep in mind, this isn't a hotel, it's an inn. A large bed and breakfast style setup. I found all of it to be completely charming - from the old fashioned room key to wallpaper that reminded me of my grandmother's house, just adorable. But if you're looking for a 24 hour front desk, microwaves and fridges in the rooms, you'll be disappointed. The staff were all amazing. Huge shout out to Cameron who checked us in and kept us entertained and gave us pointers about local things to do while keeping our beverages full during happy hour. Cassandra (I think?) tended bar and makes a fabulous mojito. Apparently she's also part of the team who looks after the gardens, which are such a delight. Mike, the manager, is probably the hardest working guy in this biz, but took the time to make sure we had everything we needed. I'm not much of a breakfast person, but after day 1, I was hooked. Perfect over easy eggs (or however you want them,) pancakes that obviously didn't come from a mix, omlettes, a yogurt parfait bar which featured the best blueberries I've had in a long time and daily specials. I gained a few pounds on this trip! Thanks for an incredible weekend. Can't wait to come back sometime.

Everything is impeccable at this charming inn and the views are spectacular and the breakfast staff are kind and quick with simple good options to eat and fresh fruit to boot. There are some small disclosure issues. The “primo” room called Sovereign of the Seas is very nice but at a tad over $500/night, too expensive for what it is. Not their fault but someone had smoked in it recently. There is a ~15 square ft east facing balcony attached to it that two can snugly sit on that was described to me as a private patio or private balcony while the balcony open to all the other guests runs the length of the south side of the room looking into the room. The shades work perfectly. Leaving breakfast we “overheard” the manager loudly telling other guests that he’d never been there before at 9:30 AM with the cleaning staff waiting and nobody checked out yet. We may have been a bit slow to take the hint as we amortized the room until 10:30.

My husband and I celebrated my milestone birthday with my children and grandchildren |(Ten of us) for long Memorial Day weekend.|Four grandchildren ages 15-25.||Our suites in the main house were well appointed and so spacious.|An extremely large and spacious bedroom |leading into a big fully glassed in sunroom |with ample seating and leading up two steps to a large patio sun deck with table and chairs all overlooking the ocean. Bedrooms and sunroom had their own heat/ac systems. For privacy Mike had a trundle bed and cot put in the sunroom so both kids and parents had their own privacy.||We took three separate guest suites overlooking the ocean.||We stayed in main house in Flying Cloud , my daughter and her family The Sea Witch and son and family. in Quarterdeck on 3rd floor looking directly out at the ocean. All rooms overlook the Atlantic with the rocky ledges and the soft sound of the surf. |Our son couldn’t stop talking about the view from his room and raved about the state of the art shower that is way beyond anything he could imagine. ||Mike, the general manager helped my husband with our choices. The rooms are so well insulated that you don’t even know anyone else was on your floor.|He is so nice and accommodating and treats this as if he were the owner.||They serve a full breakfast every morning along with a special of the day.|You walk into this beautiful long and rectangular dining room with white tablecloths and seating by the wide expanse windows overlooking the Atlantic. Aside from menu items, in another room at the bar they have a setup to make your own yogurt parfaits with fresh fruit, etc. ||The breakfasts are perfectly cooked and what else can one say about this experience that couldn’t get any better but it can.| |You walk into this beautiful room with tables along the window, take your seats and are greeted by either Claire or Pam with the warmest smiles welcoming you and you immediately feel like family!!!!!|If you want low key you have it but our family of ten are very outgoing and we loved our conversations with these two women .|They just make their guests their priority and are outstanding in their own ways.||Mike also is on premises and is very present with every guest. |They also have a gift shop and they sell specialty chocolates by Serenade single or boxed.|After breakfast 8-10 we walked outside by the salt water pool and sat in the gazebo by the water before are touristy things for the day. |There is also a large living room in this main house where you can hang out, with many books to read or games to play.||The grounds are beautiful and woodsy.|Landscapers are out every morning tending to trees, shrubs, and flowers.|Downtown Rockport shopping area is very quaint and minutes away and Gloucester very close.||We have travel with our kids, Europe, cruise, and domestic and this getaway is one that will remain at the top of memorable vacation.|We were on our own, our own pace ||Thank you Mike, Claire, and Oam for helping make this weekend one of...

We stayed in the Ticonderoga room in the Bulfinch house across the street from the main inn. This room has one bedroom with a queen bed as well as a small bedroom with a twin bed, plus a teeny tiny bathroom en suite. ||Pros: The views are outstanding from this historic main inn & grounds.|Great location - close to historic Rockport & Gloucester, MA.|Mike, the G.M. is friendly, outgoing & accommodating. He gave us great suggestions for restaurants.|Breakfasts are cooked to order & are very substantial, served in a dining room with outstanding seaside views in the main inn.|Quiet location. There is some traffic noise from the Ticonderoga room in the Bulfinch house.|Rooms have Individual a/c units (at least in Bulfinch house).|There is a pool (closed for the season) & lawn chess.|There is a partial ocean view from the Ticonderoga queen room (2nd floor room).|Beautiful parlor area & full kitchen for guest use in the Bulfinch house.|Limited on site parking at all of the properties.||Cons: Specific to the Ticonderoga room:|The stairs to this 2nd floor room as well as 2 others (Intrepid & Cutty Sark) are steep & curve at the top. The bannister is not very accessible at the top. No elevator in this historic house.|Difficult to tell from the website the exact location of these 3 rooms.|The bathroom is teeny tiny - it literally measures 24" from the glass shower doors to the wall next to the toilet (see my photo). It is difficult to even step out of the beautiful, updated walk in shower (with rain shower head) & I am a size 8, 5'5" woman. My spouse is a 6'3" man, so it was extremely cramped for him.|The caulk around the bathroom sink was peeling away from the wall. I made Mike aware.|The decor is outdated & somewhat dingy. Our window shade was torn. I noticed another torn window shade in another room from the outside of the house. I made Mike aware of ours & he was going to replace it. I didn't notice the second one till after we checked out.|There was a strong musty smell in the Ticonderoga rooms when we checked in. The a/c was running. We turned it off & opened windows & by the next day the smell was greatly reduced. |Be aware that the door to your room is always locked (there is a small sign above the lock but we were not told this upon check in), so you must always make sure to take your key. |There are limited outlets since this is an historic house but one charging "triangle" was provided in the main queen bedroom. Only 1 luggage rack was provided for the 2 rooms. There is no seating in the twin bedroom. 2 Lazy Boy recliners in the queen room.|Cramped, awkward, parking right outside Bulfinch house but there is another flat, more accessible, lot a short distance from the...

Don't stay here. Upon our arrival and initial looking around the room and bathroom, we saw that the shower had not been cleaned. There was still hair in the drain and dirt around the shower drain. Now that we are totally grossed out, we started looking more closely around the room. There were blotches of what we assumed to be big bug splatter and moosh on the ceiling, as well as cob webs in most corners. There was dust on the furniture. There were also stains on the perimeter of the ceiling and there was a stain on the cover of one of the pillows on the bed. There was a small rip in the flat sheet. So overall we consider this a "not clean room." We went to the local supermarket and bought cleaning supplies and cleaned the shower ourselves and put up with the rest of the room's condition. Moving on to the sun room... this room did have a nice view through windows that were not clean and when you looked to the left and down at the grounds, you saw old fencing and salvage that was strewn about the side of the building. No tarp covered the mess. The furniture on the sun porch needed a thorough scrubbing - there was dirt lodged in the weaving of the coffee table, the side table, and chairs. This was indoor/outdoor furniture so it was a plastic that was used to mimmick wicker furniture and something that could easily be scrubbed. When I called to make the reservation several months previous, I asked about the room and the private deck. Interestingly, the private deck is private if you keep the blinds shut. We had access to our neighbor's deck through our bathroom window and the other side of the deck also had the same setup for our neighbors (they too needed to close shades so that they and we did not see eachother). I was disappointed that the compressor was also located on our deck. I don't think I was told about this on the call but really can't remember. The included breakfast was good, the serving staff were attentive and the location was convenient. I have never given a google review on a place I have stayed at but this experience was worth telling anyone who was considering staying here to think twice about going - especially...
