Our server Rosemary was wonderful and gracious dealing with a rather pretentious and difficult couple before taking our order. Atmosphere and ambience was delightful with breathtaking views of the ocean from our outside patio perch.
There was some miscommunication with two hamburger salad orders but quickly rectified; my salmon? Cooked to perfection! The dessert menu was to die for and immediately perked up when our server Rosemary announced that a strawberry and rhubarb cake was on the menu. They had me at strawberry and rhubarb cake. It was light and just the right amount of sweetness and portion size. I had a glass of pinot noir and we ordered a bottle of Pellegrino.
The only drawback to our dining experience was the wait. Our reservation was at 5pm and our entrees landed just about 1 hour later. In between 5pm and 5:30pm our salmon avocado toast with my glass of wine and Pellegrino was presented. Not particularly busy when we arrived which made the timing of our food prep and plating more conspicuous.
Overall good experience that could have been great if we didn't have to wait so long for our meals. Waffling between 3 and 4 but the Pigeon Cove staff and Rosemary particularly deserve the higher mark for attentiveness and service but just falling shy of the 5 due to somewhat less than stellar execution of prep time and plating our apps and meals. We would return to dine again. We were hungry and you all delivered delicious food that was very satisfying.
I discovered your fine establishment on the Open Table app at 4:15pm while we were wrapping up our wonderful experiences at Good Harbor Beach in Gloucester. I promptly booked our reservation after viewing your menu. Thank you for allowing us to dine with...
Read moreHistoric Emerson Inn's restaurant. Don't know if tavern is the correct title as there is only a small bar separate from the dining area. Dining room is a large single room with scattered tables and chairs that are meant to get you up after an hour (uncomfortable). Small menu featuring some nice preparations executed tastefully. We enjoyed, a cheese board with jam and honey placed directly on the board, would have preferred small vessels of these accompaniments. Salmon won tons, NY strip, and Scallops. Nothing visually spectacular but the flavors where on point. Very small wine list. Seasonal place...
Read moreArrived 5 mins before reservation but couldn't be seated "because kitchen was not open yet...however when the hostess got us in the lounge and seated us in dining room eventually, a table of four already had food on the table. (That table and ours were the only diners). Charcuterie board looked like and tasted like it was from the grocery store. Clam chowder was tasteless and gritty. Onion soup was too salty. That said we had a great breakfast there...great service with coffee servers and a nice variety on the breakfast buffet. All a.m. servers we bright and welcoming. Not so much on the...
