American Inn & Suites Romulus DTW — Hotel in Romulus

Thought to myself, how bad could it be? Well, it was bad.

The staff was rude and unprofessional to say the least, and the hotel is literally falling apart.

I had an early morning flight and needed to get a good night sleep. Around 10pm I woke up to the sound of water, and there was water literally gushing out of the ceiling into the toilet. I tried calling the front desk multiple times and no one answered. Finally, I went downstairs, and no one was there. After looking around, I noticed a woman outside staring at me. I made eye contact with her and she came inside. I told her what was going on, and she threw a couple of towels at me and got in the elevator with me. She dropped me off at my floor and then went upstairs to check on the person above me. I waited for about 10 mins and heard nothing, so I went back downstairs and she was back outside. She seemed very annoyed that I was back, and then told me that the lady upstairs was taking a shower and forgot to do something with the plug or shower curtain.. either way, shouldn’t have produced a waterfall from the ceiling.

I asked for a new room and she seemed very annoyed with my request, but again, waterfall.. ceiling… She got me a new room finally, and I went up. The room was nicer and there was no waterfall from the ceiling, but then I went to use the toilet and it was broken.

Other than this whole ordeal, the hotel is just overall sketchy and does not feel safe.

I was so weirded out and uncomfortable by the whole situation that I barely slept.

I checked in Friday and asked if there was a washer and dryer on site and she said there was. I was over charged more then once from the original price it had online. I looked at my card and there was 42 dollars in extra charges that I did not authorize on my card. I went to use the washer and dryer they said they have and only thing that was working was the washer. The only thing I liked about it was the cleaning lady that works days she was so nice and understanding. On the last day of my stay I was coming down the stairs to take the trash outside to the dumpster and when I got to the last step I slipped on the puddle of water that was all over the floor at the end. I got up and walked down to the front dest and wanted to notify them of what happened and the maintenance guy on site put his head down and apologized and walked away. I told the lady at the front desk what happened and she just called the maintenance guys name and turned around and walked away. No one even cared that it happened but the nice cleaning lady. The maintenance guy just mopped up the water and put towels down as he said that people get ice and just spill it all over the floor that’s why it was there. If you want a expensive stay and to be treated like crap this is the place to be. And if you want them taking more money off your card that you never agreed to. Then this is the place I was told 162 dollars and when I checked my card it was 168 plus 50 dollars plus 12 dollars plus another 30 dollars in miscellaneous charges. Like what the hell I only...

When I checked into my room around 10pm Friday 9/13, I noticed there was no mini fridge. When I asked the front desk clerk, she rudely told me all the rooms had mini fridges. When I told her mine didn’t, she said she couldn’t give me another room (I had medication that needed to be refrigerated) and that maintenance would bring me one the following day (Saturday 9/14). The next morning when I asked a different clerk when would maintenance be bringing the fridge, she told me it wouldn’t be until the evening after 4pm of the following day (Sunday 9/15) because they were getting new ones delivered. She was nice enough to give me a different room around 1:30pm after housekeeping had cleaned them. The bathroom door in the second room was soo hard to open or close, you had to almost break it down to open it and there were food stains on the wall. The flooring was also rising so if you stepped in certain places, you can feel you foot sink in where the tile is separating from the foundation. The walls are also very thin, there was a woman at the other end of the hallway having a phone conversation in the hall and we could hear every word of it and she wasn’t being loud. You could also hear the moving around of whoever was above us. The continental breakfast consisted of 1 brand of cereal, loaves of bread, and cold microwave French toast sticks.
