I stayed here with my family for a week in the summer. My dad and stepmom do RCI condo/resort rentals, and they chose this since it's a short drive from DFW where we live. We've done many RCI stays, but this was the first one with my infant son and toddler nephew. This was by far the least impressive RCI property we have ever stayed in. First, the negatives: My wife found three different dead or dying cochroaches during our one-week stay. The staff are also not very nice. I neve saw any of them in person, but when I called beforehand to ask a bunch of questions, the lady on the phone seemed very put out, as if I were wasting her time. My family said that the office staff were rude and unhelpful. The office hours are also very limited and change greatly from day to day, and they often close shortly before the posted closing time. Service is also limited. During our week there, we were only able to exchanged dirty towels/linens on Wednesday at 10AM, and we had to be physically in the unit to answer the door at the aforementioned time. To be fair, the lady exchanging linens was very nice. On to the good stuff: The facility itself is pretty nice, though rather Spartan. This is one of many RCI properties that looks like a converted hotel/apartment complex. The furnishings vary greatly form unit to unt. My family had three units, and they all looked a bit different, despite being the same (or flipped) layout. Ours had only CRT TVs, though others had one or two flat-screen TVs. Kitchen appliances also varied from told to new. The decorations were nice, and the beds and couches were very comfortable. Some things did not work, such as parts of outlets and remote controls. One outlet had its cover missing. TV reception was good, but there was not much of a program guide. Also, the little binder they give you with information about the propery and surrounding area was almost a joke. Not only was it horribly outdated, but contained many phrases along the lines of “Guests are not allowed to...” or similar. It listed many activites in the Fort Worth area, which are all an hour away or more. Its list of grocery stores didn't even include a nice Brookshires 10 minutes away in Bridgeport, even though it listed the Super Walmart in Decatur. Some information was simly inaccurate. Back to positives, the area was reasonably clean and very quiet. The pool is nice, though small, and has adequate shaded areas for lounging or keeping your stuff. The tennis courts were being converted to a mini golf course. Oh, and I forgot the WiFi. The WiFi is terrible! There are multiple networks for each building, so my devices were constantly trying to switch among the three networks to try to find a good signal. The signal was spotty, the connection slow, and it was incredibly unreliable. I feel that WiFi should not be advertised if it is this unreliable. Oh, and don't count on your cell service either. With T-Mobile and a Galaxy Note 4 less than a year old, I couldn't make any calls, and texts would often arrive hours later, if they were sent at all. I find it hard to recommend this property, especially to a family with a child or children. If you wasn tot be close to Dallas/Fort Worth, then stay somewhere closer. If you want to get out of the city, stay in a larger town or in a state park. My wife said they call it “Runaway Bay” because you should run...
Read moreI stayed here like 5 years ago when I first relocated to North Texas and needed a place to stay. I booked this through RCI and this location should not even be PART of RCI. But this is a big problem with RCI. They seem to have many run-down, trash resorts, as well as beautiful resorts. You HAVE to do your research if you want a good stay/location. ||||For North Texas, RCI doesn't offer many locations(4 or so), and this was the closest to Fort Worth, where I was relocating to at the time. Well, after being here in Texas for 5+ years, my family did a trip out to the Bridgeport area and we drove by this location again(I was telling my wife, hey this is the trash resort I stayed at when I first came out for interviews). Five years later, NOTHING has changed. The resort is still completely run down. It is in the middle of no where, so cell service and internet is minimal at best. Literally, right behind this property, is another building that went out of business years ago and is just sitting there decaying. ||||Yes, it is on the water and good for fishing. Other than that, it is not worth $50 a night and it is like staying at a cheap, run down motel. The other reviews of people saying they didn't even check in, or were disgusted by this hotel, are very valid. ||||If you are ok with this location, you have low standards. Once again, this place should NOT even be...
Read moreThe room had a musty smell upon entry, and trying to air it out was unfruitful. Both the bathroom and kitchen exhausts are unhelpful as they vent right back into the unit not outside. Dishes, utensils, cookware, and the dining table had a greasy film on them that we had to clean before use (not how I usually plan a resort vacation). The A/C return vent had a filter that was caked with dust. We replaced it ourselves for our own health, and because Saturdays the office is closed (very strange for a Friday/Saturday check-in resort). Many repairs are poorly done, like an inexperienced person tried to do the work. ||Sad really — the place looks like it once was very nice, but the current owners are not doing the basics to keep this resort from falling into disrepair and poor ratings. All easy fixes, really. Hopefully they will see this review and do better. Until then,...
