First and Last time coming to this place! way over priced for the quality of the cabin we stayed in, was told that the rooms were updated and sanitized properly to cut the spread of covid-19. very underwhelming and disappointed at the filthiness. the only good thing about the place was the pool. even that had a few things wrong. we stayed in cabin #6 and was sadly met with the following issues.
FRIDGE: was hot on the inside when we first entered our food was getting hot from the ride over. was to busy getting settled in to call the maintenance man. me being a Appliance technician got it working within 10 mins and it was blowing cold. I did not charge them for my services DOOR: was dirty and was told that the room was cleaned 2 times over to avoid Covid-19. my wife cleaned the inside door handle area with a simple Clorox wipe and the rag came out brown with dirt. outside door had rust. BUNKBED: upper part had no support rails so anybody who slept up there had the possibility to fall throughout the night. the pullout frame on the bottom of the bed was broken so we couldn't use it. (FALL HAZARD) FIRE EXTINGUISHER: no date of last time checked on not sure if still operable. no smoke detector in the room. (FIRE HAZARD) 5.QUEEN MATTRESSES: old, thin, and every movement heard. Frame holding it up was old and falling apart (FALL HAZARD) 6:OLD CHAIR: was falling apart literally. had a broken spring. (FALL HAZARD) 7:COUCH: was dirty and filthy had to put a blanket over it to sit on, arm rest were caked in body grease. also the pull out bed had crumbs, stains, and dust all over. (NOT CLEANED) DECOR: was old falling apart, sun bleached, and caked with dust. no privacy blinds or curtains in living room area for those sleeping on pullout couch due to the broken frame and bunk fall hazard. (NOT CLEANED) LIGHTS: ceiling fan and kitchen light both wired to the same switch. (FIRE HAZARD) TABLES AND WOOD FURNITURE: old and falling apart, table feet broken. I thought the place was updated??? RESTROOM: fan not working. shower head to low had to crouch to wash my hair. TRASH: found under bed. Cleaned for covid???
OTHER PROBLEMS.
one night my family and I with a group of friend kids were swimming in the pool and there was a group of under aged kids all drinking and vaping in the hot tub. one asked the 12 year old that was with our group if he wanted to smoke. on top of that the 10 year old and 11 year old that was with the hot tube group bullied a 10 year old that was with our group he ran back to his cabin to get his dad and mom. followed by a 18 year old standing on top of the ledge of the hot tub and PULLED DOWN HIS PANTS AND SHOWED HIS BUTT!!!!! I had my 7 and 5 year old's with me I had some choice words and decided to leave the pool with our family and friends to report the group of drunk teenagers. it was at 9:30 before the pool closed at 10. we were told that the only thing we could do was call the cops if it got worse. we confronted the adults that were in charge of the kids, and when they talked to the kids they started mouthing off and had to hold both couple friends of mine from doing something stupid. the pool didn't close till 11:30 that night.
The next night we decided to go to the pool at 9:30 thinking that it would close after 11 like it did the 2 nights before. the maintenance man walked in at 10:15 and word for word... Friend: "Are you closed? Guy: "well its after 10 and I have a job to do so if you want light as you leave I suggest you hurry up." called Ashley and told her what went on and was told the she would speak to him and that she was sorry for his behavior. it just made me think where was he when we needed help with the teenagers or close the pool at 10?
I expected a lot from this place but received nothing but negativity from who I'm guessing is the owners daughter. if I could give a no star I would. we will never come back to this place in the future. the fire marshal...
Read moreI have never been treated this bad on a trip in my life. I have been to this place three times before, but this was my first time with the new owners. They placed new lights near the cabin we were in, but we were not going to complain. Then the water in our cabin was turned off, so we went to complain. When we spoke to the owner, he had such an unfriendly character. However, they seemed to listen to our complaints and offered to comp two nights for our problems and give us an extra night on our annual trip that was scheduled for this summer. We were happy with it at this point, and the lights that were shining near our cabin were turned off, so we thought things were going to be good. However, the the next night things took a horrible turn for the worst. We did not see anything happen and just assumed the owner listened to his costumers and decided to turn the lights off. Instead, while we were sitting by our camp fire enjoying our vacation, the police showed up. They came right to our cabin and and approached the one African American adult male in our group. Yes, in the middle of the night, the owner called the police because someone messed with the lights he had just installed, and it was clear that he accused my friend of doing it. I have heard all these things about "doing _ while black," but I never experienced any of it until now. Before the light incident, my friend is the one who paid for the cabin and spoke to the owner about the lights and the water turning off, and the owner promised us a refund on two nights for the problems and an extra night on the trip we already had book and paid the deposit for for this summer. However, after he called the police that night, everything changed because now, two days after we returned from the trip and called to check on the refund, my friend was told he would not be given the refund amount he was promised AND that our deposit for the summer trip would be given back because he did not want to rent to us anymore! I was shocked. When the police came and asked us questions, we were with our family and told them we knew nothing about the light. Meanwhile, on the other side of the river, another group was yelling about the lights while the police were there. Nothing suggested that we were involved, yet he clearly blamed us. I truly am shocked by this because my friend is the one who introduced me to this place, and he has been taking his family to this location for the past 10 years. He has spent thousands of dollars on vacationing in the same cabin with his family, and he has brought so many people to this place. Now, the entire tradition is destroyed because this owner is convinced that a black man destroyed his lights. Despite the fact that there was no evidence that we did anything. All we did was bring it to their attention that this place was great without the light pollution and that we had been going there for a long time and wanted to help. We are all highly professional people I have a Ph.D. and my friend he accused is a warehouse manager for a large company. Both of our wives are teachers and our kids are wonderful people. We have all been friends since before we were teenagers, and I can honestly say that as a group we have never been treated as badly as this. We work very hard in life hard and love spending time with our family. I am so sad and angry that I will not be able to go to this place ever again unless ownership changes because of how badly we were treated. Anyone who reads this needs to know that if you go to this place with this new ownership you are supporting a racist owner who does not care about the people who have invested so much time, money, and love into this place! What a loser...
Read moreVery disappointed with our stay. I do not recommend staying at these cabins and most definitely will NOT go back. Very poorly stocked. Cooking supplies are minimal at best. Take everything you need for meal prep if you plan to cook. Our Cabin was filthy, it had hair in the shower from previous guest. The floors were filthy you couldn't walk barefooted on them or your feet would be black. We had a spill in the kitchen and when we wiped it up the towel was covered in black grime from previous stayers. I don't think the floor had been mopped in years. The broom that was in the cabin was covered in hair and yuck. The toilet smelled strongly of old urine and was not clean. Take your own sheets, blankets, pillows, bedcoverings as they provide none. Beds are hard and uncomfortable. They charge you $190.00 to clean but they do not have a cleaning team that comes in behind you to clean. They expect the previous stayers to clean it and leave it clean for the next guest. They do not come by and pick up your trash everyday anymore. They charge extra for every little thing including trash pickup and vehicles. It's just gross. My family has gone to Criders for years, We used to sit on the riverbank and watch the floaters go by and we could get up and down in the river conveniently from just about any spot along the riverbank. That's not possible anymore because they don't weed eat near the river bank and its all overgrown now. You have to crawl through the weeds to get into the river or use the steep stairs. You can't sit on the riverbank and just watch the people floating by anymore either, the weeds are too high and the bugs are bad. Just very disappointing to see what used to be a wonderful place to stay so poorly maintained in everyway...lawns, cabins, supplies. While we were there we found other cabins to stay in for next year. We...
