Date of stay: Nov 15 & 16, 2023 During this Roguetrip, we stayed at several Best Western Plus hotels, which is a chain we haven't stayed at much before. It wasn't intentional to stay at so many BWP hotels; it's just how it worked out - and we have loved it - it is definitely a chain we are so impressed with that we will definitely FOCUS to try and stay at BWP hotels more often in the future. THIS hotel was hands down the most unique and interesting hotel we have stayed at. This Best Western Plus is located inside an old train repair shop. Rooms ring around the pool with courtyard/ pool facing rooms and an outer ring of rooms. Our room faced the pool. The rooms were very comfortable, clean, and spacious. The beds were soft, but supportive, pillows were plentiful, but i found them too thin. My husband, did not find this problem. Breakfast was great, with all kinds of options. Eggs/omelettes, turkey sausage etc., yogurt, granola, oatmeal; seating is in the centre courtyard, which was lovely. Parking... There isn't enough parking for a whole house; we had to park in their overflow lot, which is a bit of a walk with suitcases. The building is gorgeous. The old train facility gives this chain hotel a very boutique hotel vibe. The front desk staff were amiable and helpful. There is a small fitness centre with a few pieces of equipment. It would be very 'cozy' if two people were to use it at the same time. While the hotel isnt within walking distance to any attractions, we did find it was a convenient location for our roguetrip purposes.

Not entirely sure where to start, so let's dive in. Possibly the most dangerous parking lot I've walked through in some time. Slick, covered in ice and uneven. Sidewalks mostly covered in ice as well. The entry way welcomes you with a blast of mold. The further you walk into the building the less you smell that and the more pool you smell. Staff was ok, from what little interaction I had, so can't really speak to that. I stayed in a room on the first floor, which had no signage to get me to the correct place until I was in the hallway leading to the room. Upon entering my room I was met with pool smell, which is unnerving, and foul, with moldy undertones. Bathroom was cute, for the 90's. Bed a little on the top soft side, but that is probably just a preference thing. Carpeting has wrinkles where it's coming up off the flooring, which I've never seen before. Ever. The desk chair is disgustingly stained with...stuff. Not sitting in it, so won't investigate further. No outlet near the bed which is easily accessible. It's down low behind the night stand. Decor is a confusing topic. This is an old train station, yet all the photos on the wall are of airplanes, which makes no sense. The painful part of this experience is how it's as expensive as other, much better, hotels. All in all, won't stay here again despite the fact the location to office.

Did not fulfill my expectations based on their website photos. The room was comfortable. My favorite thing about my stay was the pillows. Hotel was quiet during the night, at least after 10 pm when pool closed. The pool is in the center of the rooms with the ceiling reaching up to the roof. You can hear kids playing and screaming while in your hotel room even if not poolside. Bathroom fixtures are updated and nice. Shower is dated and dingy. The tile floor is unappealing and needs replacing. Also saw a couple strands of someones hair stuck to the bathroom wall. The "market" has limited items for double the price ($2 for can of soda). Better off going to the super america a couple blocks up. My biggest issue during my stay was the Wi-Fi not working AT ALL for several hrs on all 3 devices we had. Second issue was the noise from pool area. Also, hearing people clearly talking while walking through the hallway, so they can probably hear you in your room as well. Lastly, it wasn't a big deal..but arriving at night can be confusing if you have never been here. Hard to determine where the main entrance is until you pull up further. I never did find where to enter the parking lot/structure just found the exit. I'd recommend arriving during daylight hours so you can find where you're going!

The stay at the hotel was okay, it was when I was checking in that was a huge problem. My husband and I drove 5 hours from Wisconsin and didn’t get to the hotel till 10 p.m. I went to the front desk only to get get a confused receptionist saying my name did not pop up. I gave her my confirmation number and ID and after searching, she told me somebody checked into my room earlier! Whoever worked earlier that day apparently did NOT check ID’s as they are required to do as part of their simple task. Now the receptionist who is in charge when the general manager is not around started making calls. Of course it’s late and the GM would not answer, so she figured something out at the most she could do. It’s now 10:30-11. I am tired from the long drive, it’s been a long day and I’m irritated at how I STILL couldn’t get into my room that I already paid for in full a week before. The reason why I mentioned that was because checkin was suppose to be easy and fast so I can get going to my room, but things never go as plan right? I should say they are lucky they still had a room available (because I know how busy that weekend is for them) or I will NOT be happy at all. After getting the keys to my room, we were instructed to park a building over into a parking structure and had to park at the very top. My experience with checking in was bad already and to top it off, we had park FAR and on top of a parking structure with an elevator that’s not even working! I figured to make it easier for us, we can take our belongings into our room before parking. As soon as we got to our room, one of our room keys didn’t even work! I suddenly got more frustrated. So we used the other key that works, put everything in and went back to our car to park it in the structure. Walked down what seems like 50 flights of stairs, walked passed the other building back to our hotel to the receptionist to fix the room key that didn’t work. She reswiped our card , and we were on our way back to our room. Used the key she just fixed to open our room and it STILL DID NOT WORK. At this point, I literally wanted to rip my head off and scream. It was already too late to go back so I figured I’ll go back tomorrow morning to get a different card. It’s now a little passed midnight and we FINALLY got to settle in our room. It took 2 HOURS upon arriving at the hotel to finally settle in our room. We still needed to shower before going to bed and I was just so angry at everything and had to wake up early the next day. I thought about talking to the gm the next day. Next morning came, we went to the front desk and requested for a different card. Asked for the gm Chris but he wasn’t going to arrive until any time after 10 am. I told the receptionist to please make note about my situation and that I will be calling him sometime in the day. I didn’t get the chance to actually call since I was so busy and by the time we came back to the hotel, the gm was gone. At that point, I decided to give up because what’s the point anymore? I was expecting to at least get a room upgrade or something nice in return for the inconvenience but the GM wasn’t there. When we went to the front desk to check the out, I finally met Chris. He did know it was us who had the situation happened to but he did not apologize or offer anything for the trouble they have caused us. I did not want to bring it up anymore cause I will only get frustrated and we were already checking out 3 days later. Chris is a nice guy, I like him and the two receptionists who helped me the night of my arrival. It wasn’t their fault so I did not want to bring any blame upon them. I just wished they offered something to make it up to us like some professional company’s would have done. But all I have to say is, that was my first time staying there and...

We stayed because we had an expectation of it being a Best Western. We are not from the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. I had no idea that this was NOT going to be like a "normal" hotel. I confess that I do not travel much. When you walk in the front door it smells strongly of "pool". Beyond the front desk was an array of structures, i.e., benches for people to sit, entrance to the bar, a big screen TV up high for people to watch, the hot tub, and pool ... These things were all in a row in the "lobby area". It is in an old railroad depot and the floor was not level ... it went up and down as you walked throughout, including on the second floor. I wear an ankle brace and orthotics so I noticed it. I assume it's the original floor of the old depot and they put carpet on top of it. When we got to our room upstairs, we were totally surprised/dismayed to see that our window overlooked straight down onto all the stuff that I just described. I saw what I think was a "tour" go through at one point. We were dismayed that there were only two small bath towels. I elected not to shower that night to save my towel for the morning. There were no "room service" type placards to put on the door knobs. When we returned at 3 the next afternoon our room looked the same, i.e., we had not received any housekeeping. Perhaps they don't provide any. I truly didn't see anyone with carts, etc., providing room service anywhere .. while we were there. The shower did not have a tub or a curtain. It had a piece of glass that extended from the wall about a yard. And so, you had to walk in (naked), stand there, and then turn the faucet on ... not knowing the temperature while adjusting it. It was weird that it didn't have a shower curtain or a shower door. The water made my eyes burn afterwards. We went to the "restaurant" in the mid evening but they said they had "one pizza" in the freezer and "paninis". We didn't eat that night. The TV was not hi-def and everything was "elongated". I know, this is petty. I never saw anyone, ever, on the floor we were on. We stayed, primarily, because we had a pet. The Big Plus is that they have very nice grassy areas outside and I felt our pet was very safe. The front desk person...

This hotel is just a step above a roadside motel. As you walk in, the place looks kind of run down. The front entry has chipped paint everywhere. We got to our room, and it was very chilly in there, so we turned the heat up and then went out for dinner. Got back, the room was still freezing, so we called the front desk to get switched to a different room... and come to find out, to have the heat turned up in any of the rooms, they have to call the front desk to have them do it --- the control unit in the rooms are dummy panels. They should have told us that when we checked in. Next --- we had a King bed, yet the pillows on it were smaller than standard pillows, and only 4 of them. When we called the front desk to get more pillows, we were told they didn't have any more pillows, but they had extra blankets that we could roll up if we wanted. Then, while we are laying there watching some TV letting our food digest before hitting the sauna and hot tube, we notice what appeared to be feces on the smoke detector on the ceiling. Additionally, the bathroom never got warm and was freezing the entire time we were there, the ceiling tiles outside of the bathroom were sagging, and outside of our room, the ceiling tiles had water damage. Additionally, you could clearly hear the people in the room above us stomping around (non-stop for several hours into the night) and that echoed through the room. We talked to the front desk about this, but it continued. Even when turning the volume of the TV up to 80, we could still hear it. Additionally, when we walked to the front desk in the middle of the night to talk to the front desk, the walkway was not light and I almost fell over a decorative box they had sitting in the middle of the walkway. The next morning, the Continental Breakfast was nothing to brag about. Styrofoam plates (wasteful and bad for the environment), very flimsy forks and utensils, and nothing was labeled. For example, the maple syrup for the waffles I thought was oil for the...
