9 Academy — Hotel in Salisbury

It's a cliche but ... I hesitated to write this review, worried that I'll be unable to book future stays. But i am here to say: 9 Academy is awesome. We stayed in the top-floor loft suite and it's light the sophisticated apartment of your dreams. The doors opens to a perfectly outfitted kitchen and a comfortable living room, off of which sits a large terrace that's perfect for a morning cup of coffee or an after-dinner drink. The bedroom is perfect - a sumptuous king-sized bed, lots of storage space, and an awesome bathroom with a rain shower and a large soaking tub. And outside your door, down two flights of stairs is the perfect little town of Salisbury: a grocery store literally a hop skim & jump away, cute stores and cafes, and just a short stroll away is the wonderful White Hart Inn - a place to get that morning coffee for breakfast, lunch, dinner or a drink ... to eat on the lawn, in the tavern or to take back "home" to that terrace I mentioned. I would not stay here again. To be honest, they were very dimissive of the issues I brought up. Upon arrival, there were various different colors of hairs all over the couch. Rocks and leaves on the carpet. Very gross. They said early check-in was the issue. Vacuuming only takes a few minutes so that’s not the reason. Next, I found confidential travel information and documentation of another person in the drawer, which was dated 8/5/25 which means the drawer was not cleaned in weeks. In another drawer, there was a used toothpick flosser which is UNSANITARY.

Overnight, the neighbors upstairs were loud and the walls were so thin, that I was awoken at 2:30am to disturb my sleep.

I was not given good customer service or even any regard that these issues were upsetting to them. They basically just said "talk to Expedia". Expedia tried reaching out and was denied any type of compensation. Photo evidence attached...

I travel quite a bit and know that when you enter your lodging choice it can change your mood and trip. After a very long day of travel, I entered the Loft Suite and immediately took a giant sigh of wonderful relief. The location and suite exceeded all expectations. Everything is completely new, squeaky clean, fully stocked with kitchen, washer/dryer and the all important Nespresso machine. The outdoor deck was ++. There is an excellent market 2 minutes from the location and great bakery, Sweet Williams, 5 minutes away. Easy to get to Lenox, Stockbridge or Great Barrington. I wish I had a reason to go back asap. The owners were extremely responsive. I definitely recommend...
