My recent stay at The Stagecoach Inn in beautiful Salmon, Idaho, was my first visit to this charming town, though it was for work. Upon arrival, I was accompanied by two of my employees, and we proceeded to check in at the front desk.
There were two ladies at the front desk. A very nice and welcoming lady was assisting my dad, and although I didn’t catch her name, she was extremely polite and made a great first impression. Unfortunately, my experience with the other lady at the desk, Lori, was far less positive.
Throughout our time in the foyer, Lori remained focused on her computer, never looking up to greet us or ask if we needed assistance. After a long day of work, I stepped forward to ask for dining recommendations. Engaging her in conversation, she responded with an annoyed look and asked, “What do you like?” I replied that we enjoyed a variety of foods, to which she curtly responded, “Then you won’t have a hard time finding something that you like,” and immediately looked back down at her computer. Her gross attitude was off-putting to all three of us.
In contrast, the young lady who helped us went above and beyond, despite being visibly affected by Lori’s demeanor. When more patrons entered the foyer, Lori finally looked up and asked my employee in a bothered tone, “Have you been helped?” It was clear from her tone and body language that she was frustrated. She then motioned my employee over to assist the new guests, though her tone remained unwelcoming and worn out.
Lori’s lack of friendliness and her apparent disdain for customer service made the check-in process uncomfortable. I felt more like a suspect in a correctional facility than a guest at a hotel. It’s evident that her demeanor is ill-suited for the hospitality industry. I provide a service with my own business and I know customers can be overwhelming at times but if any of my employees treated customers like this they would not have a job, this lady’s demeanor was very off putting.
Despite this, the rest of our stay was pleasant, thanks to the efforts of the other staff members who worked hard to make up for the negative experience...
Read moreThis is the second time my son and I have stayed here. The hotel is not "state of the art" by any means. However, the staff has always been very kind. Rooms are "Roomy" and comfortable. Toilet and bath/ shower share a room, and then single vanity sink/ counter is just outside. (Built in hair dryer) The decor is simple, 2 beds with a shared night stand, a small round table with 2 chairs. Dresser/Tv stand with a small coffee (bag/pod style) maker, 2 luggage "stands" and an open closet. The two items NOT in the rooms are Microwave and Fridge. (At least not in ours or that I saw). They do have a selection of food and drink items for purchase in the lobby. So, they must have a Microwave there. But, I honestly didn't check. It would be a nice addition to the rooms, regardless.
Breakfast is included. During this most recent visit, the options were fine. They offered OJ, milk, coffee, and tea.. Hard boiled eggs, yogurt, fruit cups, bread to toast, (I think I saw) oatmeal packets, and the main item was DYI waffles (they were pretty yummy). If my memory is correct, this is a step down from our last visit (a few years ago) when they had more of a hot buffet, with bacon and eggs, etc..
The halls are lined with GREAT HISTORICAL photos! They are awesome if you appreciate looking back in time.
You have a choice of "River side" or "Steet side". We have now stayed in both. The River side is notably more in price. And, it is pretty (I'll try to find a photo and add it). Yet, staying on the street side (1st level) was really convenient! Slidingdoor with our vehicle right outside made for easy packing in and out.
*my preference, we are hunters, is street side, 1st level. For the ease and price.
Will mention it again as it is worth noting... The staff is very friendly, accommodating and honest! (My son left his wallet, and they had it at the front desk) They are just a group of...
Read moreWas working in town on a wildfire just north of Salmon. Me and our crew were on night shift protecting Gibbionsville, ID. When we first booked the rooms we booked for 7days as it’s never really known how long night shift will last. They would not accept government rates which is fine it’s their right not to. Two days into our stay I booked our rooms for another week so we had rooms for our entire 14 days. 7 days into our stay maids are knocking on our doors and the office is calling the phones in the rooms telling us we need to get out so the rooms can be cleaning for other guests. This is at noon and we just came off night shift at 9am now not only did we only get 3 hours of sleep we have to pack up our rooms and find a new hotel because they are booked. When I checked out at the office I asked what happen to our reservation though the two week period and was told there is nothing in the computer and to bad so sad basically. She couldn’t careless there was a mistake and the fact that we had no where to sleep now wasn’t her problem. Drove just up the road to the super 8 and explained what happened she got us right in, let us check in early and gave us a better rate. I tried to keep the money local into a non corporate hotel in a small community but after being treated like garbage i could believe it. Over all hotel was clean the rooms we stayed in weren’t spotless but we’re clean enough. Breakfast was good the most of the staff was friendly. I’m writing this so the owner can hold employees accountable for missing our reservation extension causing us to be up early having no...
