This stay was due to a family member having medical care at the University of Utah Medical Center. I was a bit concerned due to the bad reviews on Trip Advisor but I also know that some people are never happy and just like to complain, whereas not too many people will say anything if it's a positive experience. ||We stayed at the hotel for six nights. ||The room has a full sized refrigerator/freezer, microwave/oven combo, dishwasher, plates, and utensils for the kitchen, to include a toaster, which we didn't use. We didn't use the dishwasher but there was dish soap available, that we used since we didn't have too many items that needed to be cleaned. ||We had a king sized bed and while there were only three pillows on the bed, we found a couple more in one of the cabinets that was in a plastic bag that also contained a blanket and sheets for the couch. The pillows could use a bit more 'fluff' but we each had two pillows, so we were able to double up on them. ||The bathroom has a shower with full sized shampoo and conditioner attached to the wall. I used both and was happy with the results. My hair was soft, not sure if it was due to the shampoo/conditioner or the water is much better than where I currently reside. The bathroom also has a hair dryer and full sized lotion and hand soap also attached to the wall. They didn't have any liquid body soap, so I used the solid hand soap that was next to the sink. The only negative was the exhaust fan was a bit noisy and the shower head could be replaced but the water temperature and pressure was still good. ||The tv was good and had a lot of channels, to include HBO and all cable/satellite channels. We didn't use the pool but seemed nice, it was heated too.||There is parking directly in front of the hotel and between a coffee shop. If you're not able to find parking, you may need to park on the side of the road or behind the hotel, which is near Walmart. There are also three spots if you need to charge your vehicle. ||There isn't any restaurants nearby but you could go downtown or south, near the shopping center(Fashion Place, about 20 minutes south, off 215), that has numerous restaurants such as Cheesecake Factory, PF Chang, Olive Garden, a brewery, Japanese restaurant, etc. For those of you from the California/Nevada area, Salt Lake City does have at least three In & Outs that you could eat at, if you're hungry for a burger and shake, or animal style fries!! They do have breakfast and while we don't eat there daily, you could pick up some sandwiches to go. There was also a waffle maker that had delicious smelling waffles whenever we walked past it in the lobby to our car.||I didn't hear too much noise from the hallway but did hear car noise since S Foothill is a main road on the side of the hotel. It can be hard to exit the hotel to Foothill Street in the mornings or afternoon, so adjust your time if you need to be somewhere. ||We had a positive stay at the hotel and would...
Read moreNOTE: THIS REVIEW REFLECTS THE CONDITION OF THE HOTEL over a month ago, in early July 2021, It was 4th of July weekend, admittedly a hectic time. We hope conditions have improved due to several emails we sent to the manager, Loren.
Driving across the country from San Francisco to Philadelphia early last July, we have seen quite a lot in lodging from AirBNBs to hotels. Cleanliness is of primary importance to us. We initially opted to stay at Hilton brand hotels exclusively; we found Home2Suites in Elko Nevada, and had an excellent experience there. Not so in Salt Lake City, Utah. We spent one night there, unfortunately arriving too late to find other accommodations. The general reception area was chaotic and dirty, the front desk overwhelmed and running about; we should’ve taken that as a bad sign. Up a very loud, clunky elevator with filthy floors (management said, “It’s fine, it passed inspection,”) to our room, we immediately noticed a number of problems that we found most unsanitary: used soap in the shower, toilet seat up with a slight yellow color to the water, dirty plates, stained furniture and more evidence in photos later provided to management – and all of this inside a room with a “sanitary seal“ on it. We asked the manager/someone in charge to come up and help. He was clearly overwhelmed and looked around and put some Windex on one of the dirty mirrors but didn’t seem too concerned with the level of cleanliness - or rather dirtiness - that we were concerned with. He wiped some crumbs off the dishwasher, flushed the toilet and literally, said almost nothing. No apologies were made. We found quite a few more problems after he left. We slept in our clothes and with our own pillows and are checked out as soon as possible the next day. I avoid posting negative reviews as much as possible. I try to work with people on site, to give wonderful service employees and companies a chance to rectify any shortcomings. God knows, we all need the grace. This time, however - I felt it was warranted and necessary, especially after no action was taken by the manager (even after a month and several polite email promptings) and in light of an ongoing pandemic, or rather, brave new world in which cleanliness truly is more important than ever – with or without COVID. We encourage management at this Hilton Home2Suites in Salt Lake City to speak directly to the cleaning crew about this most unsanitary experience. Please consider giving some of your overworked and overwhelmed staff more support. The conditions in this hotel from the rooms to the common spaces were far from adequate. This room was unfit for guests who have any interest at all in being in a sanitary...
Read moreThis is the worst hotel experience I have ever experienced. Bordering feeling very ILLEGAL, EXPLOITATIVE, EXTORTION AND PROFILING. We stayed here for two nights and with 15 minutes of checking out my husband and I were charged $250 for a smoking fee which is completely false. We believe we were charged because we were profiled for the way we look. We drove back to the hotel to dispute the charge within an hour of check out. While on the phone on the drive back Head of Housekeeping , MARY, started screaming and yelling at us YOU DID DRUGS. She was very hostile and rude while we were very calm and confused. The clerk and Mary and my husband and I all walked back to the room and agreed it did not smell of smoke, but Mary said it’s because she propped the hall door open. The clerk agreed it smelled like marijuana the night prior - which was during the hours we were gone. We asked they check our key card activity - and we were indeed gone during the accused time of it smelling like weed. We even provided dinner receipts, dessert receipts and our work itinerary that had us away from the hotel during the confirmed time of it smelling. For delaying our travel plans a few hours for driving back to the hotel to dispute, the time gathering receipts to prove we’re innocent of something we did not do, calling several days all to never be connected to the manager of the property, it feels like we are being EXTORTED because we were PROFILED for our appearance. Mary, the clerk working and my husband and I all stood in the room and agreed it did not smell like smoke within the hour of our check out. How can we prove our innocence for something we did not do? This feels highly illegal, unfair and stereotypical for our appearance. This is financially hurtful to my husband and I . We travel and stay In hotels 150 days a year and are Hilton honor members and I have never been treated so poorly, yelled at and treated hostile for a false accusation. The feels as though this our only recourse and important for the safety of their customers. I wonder if the clerk working the night it smelled like weed would not do anything about it due in that time? This is all so insane and unfair...
