Summary: Extremely poor quality hair services done in a fancy environment for top dollar. Management team, unethical, and careless towards customers. Read on.
I had my hair done at the salon on July 23. The Salon is nice in terms of facilities. Itās bright it looks nice, etc. The young lady who did my hair also had a very nice demeanor and asked all of the right questions in our consultation. Because sheās the nicest person I experienced at that salon I will not be publishing her name (Even though she ruined my hair). Thatās about where the positives end. Everything else about this salon is incredibly disappointing.
This post is really about the salonās response and reaction when one of their stylists ruins a customerās hair.
I provided the three images of my own hair immediately after a blonding and color reset I had done in Las Vegas (back home). I explained how important it was to me that we really match exactly what I had in the images. I ended up with my hair in a completely different color family (red brown instead of neutral blonde) and all my color correction ruined. While nice in person, I believe that the āmasterā stylist doing my hair may have been completely inexperienced and unqualified to actually do the job. Because I chose to go with a āmasterā stylist this color service cost $395. When we were done, I clearly told her that we are very far off from the initial image that I provided. I told her I would give it about 24 hours to see if I can get a little bit more comfortable in the hair color I ended up with.
About a day later, I called the salon in tears because I am very unhappy about my hair. Iām extra unhappy at having paid top dollar to be unhappy about my hair. The girl on the phone had very minimal empathy. The only thing she said was to write down everything into an email and that management would get back to me in 48 hours. So I did. Clearly even more upset than when I started, given the absolute carelessness I received from the front desk. The appropriate response from the salon would have been to get a manager on the phone immediately.
I wrote the email. I explained the situation exactly as above, I provided my photos, And I requested solutions. One solution that I offered is that Lunatic Fringe pay for my travel and color correction again in Las Vegas. Remember reader, at this point in the customer service experience, there has been no empathy no apology and no solutions offered.
In the meantime, Iām reaching back out to the salon back in Las Vegas to figure out what this would take to fix. I followed up and asked Lunatic Fringe for my formula so that the salon in Las Vegas can tell us what to do to fix it. And then I finally got the response from āmanagementāā¦. Management said That they will no longer engage with me because I am threatening and extorting them. This salon interprets a customerās requests to fix the situation as extortion. Customers should beware. If anything goes wrong with your āhigh endā (sarcasm) hair service, they will not fix it, they will have no empathy, they will not apologize and in fact, theyāre going to try to make their customers feel like the bad person in this situation after their customers pay them a ton of money for their mistakes.
It is going to cost me time and hundreds of dollars to go back to Las Vegas to have my hair reset, again. I am frustrated and upset both at my time spent, what my hair looks like and the cost. This salon and especially its management should be ashamed of themselves. Hairstylists make mistakes every day, how a salon fixes it is truly what creates a good...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is my third time at a Lunatic Fringe location and so far I'm like 0/3 in terms of my haircuts. The salons are beautiful, the amenities are great, but ultimately I want to leave satisfied with my hair. I usually find things a day or two after cuts because it's time to style my own hair. This experience was no different. I was a little concerned because my appointment was meant to even out an asymmetrical aline (my previous haircut from the last LF I visited) thin the back, and add/correct layers. Overall this is an easy task. I realized after my hair was like 85% dry that there had been no cutting of the layers in my hair. There had only been a perimeter trim. Had I had normal layers before, it may not have made a huge difference, but with an asymmetrical aline from 4 months ago that had grown out meant I had layers that were cut specifically for an asymmetrical aline that were now incredibly uneven; even more so now because of the asymmetry. She did end up doing the smallest amount of dry cutting, but it wasn't nearly enough to change the graduation. I also noticed she over-directed the "layers" near the front of my face to the back of my head, so it made no difference and added to the graduation no longer wanted. In addition, the thinning of the back of my hair was never done. Typically thinning shears are necessary to get the bulk out for how much I need removed. She did a little slide and point cutting but my hair is still heavy in the back. Not only that, I noticed a stray hair and did a perimeter check and I still have an aline with some longer hairs peeking out. Not the straight perimeter I asked for. Just a less noticeable aline.
When I left, it looked fine, but days and a fresh wash later, I noticed that the sides of my hair were thick because of the angle you normally cut for graduation in combination with the "dry cutting" that was done. It looked like Willy Wonka - the Johnny Depp version. I imagine all the product is what made the difference.
Tonight I spent about 45 minutes correcting my own layers. Despite 12 years of experience as a cosmetologist myself, cutting my own hair is still incredibly difficult. It's really obnoxious to spend $60+ on a haircut only to go home to fix it myself. I could have done it alone for free.
My previous trip at another location started with the stylist telling me that the haircut I wanted was out of her scope and that she's probably the wrong person to cut it. Overall she did pretty well, except for the graduation which I also had to go home and fix.
To save myself $60 and the regret a 4th time, I'm gonna have to pass on here for cuts. Maybe I'll revisit other services, but I don't think i have it in me to be disappointed a 4th time and feeling like I wasted my money.
Booking with a master stylist may help, but the stylist from my last trip wasn't new, but the one from this weekend was fresh out of school it seemed. She was very sweet and she...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have always wanted to get blue highlights, but I was afraid that it would turn out terrible. I am also very afraid of my conservative mother-in-law and care way too much about her opinion of me. As a 30-something, I have never colored my hair before -- but a global pandemic can make you do strange things, including seeking one of the few semblances of normalcy like a trip to the salon to try out a fresh new look. I booked my appointment to Lunatic Fringe online (thank you for taking online appointments so I don't have to talk to a human) and was randomly assigned to Kylie as my stylist. Upon entering, the salon was squeaky clean and they took my temperature. Good to go. When I sat in Kylie's chair, she listened to my ideas and suffered through my anxiety, but quickly calmed my fears about coloring my hair - especially a "fashion color" as she called it. Throughout the whole process she so kindly held my hand (metaphorically, of course) and explained every step. And oh my goodness, my hair turned out amazing!!! I am in love. And I am so happy I pushed myself to do something a little crazy. I am especially grateful for the expertise of Kylie who is a true color artist and an all-around awesome stylist. I'll be seeing her again for sure and returning to Lunatic Fringe. Maybe in a few months...
