Actually, I would give it a -1 star. We were there for my son's wedding. The day of the wedding we woke up to find our vehicle had been broken into. We discovered this about 10:00am and we had to leave for the wedding at 2:00. The door lock had been busted so we were unable to get into our vehicle. I had to bother my son, the groom who was busy getting a wedding together and let him know we have no transportation. He had to drop everything and figure out how to get us a ride to the venue. I called the bride and she said she would pick us up and bring us to the venue. (Yeah, that's what a bride needs to worry about on her wedding day) We notified the front desk. They had to get in touch with the manager who was in Mexico. We had to call the police and a locksmith. We still had to have our showers, put on makeup, get dressed, all that stuff. When the locksmith came we were then able to see that the ignition had been completely destroyed, the steering column was also destroyed. The locksmith put in a new tumbler and charged us $520 for 10 minutes work. My husband has worked on cars his entire life, he said it should only have cost $120. Oh, and the alarm clock doesn't work, so we never knew what time it was, the sink wouldn't drain and the shower head dripped all night long. Speaking of the shower....ugh...no tub with a shower curtain, no, a shower ONLY with a STUPID piece of immovable clear glass halfway across the shower. The problem with that is that if you have 4 adults in 1 room and someone is in the shower and someone else has to pee desperately, what do you do? If there was a shower curtain then you could go in the bathroom and you wouldn't see your adult male son in the shower and he wouldn't see you peeing. BUT NO! We had to leave the room and go to the bathroom way down by the pool. Then a lady from housekeeping knocked on the door and asked if we needed anything. I said that we could use some towels, since we all needed to take a shower still. She said OK. I waited and waited and waited. APPARENTLY, I found out later, she was going down the entire hall asking everyone. I SURE WISH SHE WOULD HAVE SAID THAT. I finally couldn't wait any longer and went ahead and took my shower. AS PART OF THE TRAINING PROGRAM, START TELLING THE HOUSEKEEPING STAFF TO STATE CLEARLY THAT THEY ARE GOING DOWN THE ENTIRE HALLWAY AND THIS WILL TAKE A WHILE. The wedding was beautiful. Everyone wanted to hear the story about our vehicle. And when they asked which hotel this happened at, I was all too happy to give that info. My son works on the military base and he has been instructed to tell everyone he knows about this IF WE ARE NOT MADE WHOLE.
The ongoing saga......2 days later...... I read the response from Best Western. I would like to respond to it. Absolutely NO ONE offered us transportation to that wedding. I don't know if you're just lying to make the hotel look good in this review or if you were lied to by one of your staff. But I would like to reiterate...NO ONE offered us transportation to...
Read morePro: parking lot felt safe, employees were kind, water fountain had a bottle refiller, lobby was impressive. Pillows were lovely. The free breakfast was a big spread eggs sausage bagels waffles etc. Rooms were quiet for the most part. I could only hear my neighbors above me when their kid was literally running and tumbling, couldn't hear the adults and literally 10 minutes, not a big deal. The hallway noise wasnt noticeable.
Con: The bugs said hello. There was a fruit fly hanging around the whole time and the second night my kid found a brown beatle about the size of my thumb print running up the wall. I assume it's a roach but I don't want to image search it. The shower was miserable. The drain didn't work fast so the water was up to my kid's ankles. There was a chip in the tile by the drain we were avoiding getting cut on. The grout lines were black in a lot of places. There's white marks all over the knob(hard water?). Someone else complained about the glass shower wall. It wasn't a big deal to me as an adult but showering my kid who still needs help water got everywhere. We weren't the first because of all the rust on the floor. The bathroom door was so hard to open and close. The hinges were weird like coated with white minerals/powder. The toilet bowl wobbled when I sat on it and the handle had to be pushed 90 degrees or more down and sometimes wouldn't register to flush until a second or third time. It would flush with full normal force but was hard to trigger. I think the bathroom exhaust fan is under powered but it is Texas and it's humid outside, but my swimsuits didn't dry overnight in that room and I was there for 2 nights and we went swimming the day before we got to the hotel. Again could be Texas humidity.
The bed sheets might not have been clean. There was a black marker stain on one, if it's a sharpie that's probably never coming out, but the other bed looked like it had make up on it that should have washed out. So I'm not sure if I had clean sheets.
The hotel room to the hallway didn't latch shut without being tugged on.
My white socks and my kid's white socks are black on the bottom from walking on the carpet.
When I told the clerk my problems at check out she said I just walked by the exterminator who was scheduled to do my floor today. She also said they would have moved my room but the brown bug was 10pm after a day at sea world. I figured he was probably there the night before so any damage is probably done. She said she'd relay my problems onto management. I just was sad how bad the room was. I have been to 5 different hotels this week and spent 22 weeks in Texas at various hotels with my prior job and this was the second worst hotel I've stayed in. We stayed at a different best Western in San Antonio earlier that week for half the price and the experience...
Read moreMy stay here was back in 2010 for close to 4 months at this hotel.
I was in USAF Combat Arms Instructor School and Lackland lodging was not available (Full) for my stay and received a letter authorizing me for off base lodging. The lady at the counter showed me a list of authorized hotels to stay in and she recommend the Best Western at this location, as it was fairly newly built.
Drove over to the hotel and the lobby was extremely nice, the staff was nice and booked my stay for around 4 months. Rooms were above the average, I loved staying here.
Staff and managers were very, very, very understanding as my GTC couldn’t hold the hotel charges until I could file for interim travel voucher to pay off the previous charges for the hotel stay. The hotel staff knew this and was extremely patient/helpful in waiting for my GTC to process the deposit from the partial travel voucher.
Breakfast was really good, and ate it every day M-F, my weekends were sleep in days, so I missed breakfast. Happy Hour was free beer and wine, with chips and was a great hold over until we decided on a place to go eat dinner. Just off the service road from the Truemper rd. gate and made it going to class easy especially when basic training graduated every week. ALSO I took the Hwy 90 service road to the Luke gate where the visitor center is or the hospital gate, as my school was behind the hospital on base.
Both methods of entering on base even when basic graduated was easy. The school house instructors even warned us on several occasions about the traffic during those days.
I didn’t have any issues nor did about 5 other class mates about security of our vehicles. We even brought one of our class mates from a hotel down the street to this hotel after his vehicles was broken into twice and his military gear was stolen, SAPD recover the items as they caught the guy walking down the street carrying the gear.
If I didn’t have Hilton Honor points thru Amex I would be staying at this hotel while in...
