This turned out to be quite the unfortunate experience. After arriving at the unmarked and unmanned camp sites we had to let our selves in the gate. Nearly getting stuck several times because our truck and trailer (26ft) did not fit. We finally found a spot that he directed us to via speaker phone. Turns out we weren’t as good at navigation as we thought. It was our first camping trip ever. The site was not large enough to accommodate the 30ft that it touts. We had to make cuts to a very small tree in order to fit. Rookie mistake again I suppose. Long story short, we have been threatened and cursed at. Yelled at and assured that me and my children were going to be BANNED from every campsite in the state. I offered to replace, remove and repair the area several times. All he wanted to do was curse and make threats. The owner is a very spiteful and angry man. Thrice denying our requests for water. Being our first time camping, we had no idea what we were doing. I guess all the tires, and discarded sofas and trash everywhere is ok. But our small cut sent this man over the edge. There’s over flowing porta johns and empty 50gal drums all over the place. I am just in shock at how unwilling this man was to hear any kind of remorse, reason, contrition or communication. What a...

Myself, 3 kids and my sister camped here for 2 nights. I have to say it was beautiful! The campsite was large, private and clean. It fit our 12 person tent, changing room/shower tent, tables chairs etc. And even had a great little tree are that my kiddos loved to hang out in. The best part for me was all of the hiking paths. We spent nearly all our time here exploring the beautiful campgrounds, sometimes with several very friendly goats trailing after us, which if you ask my kiddos was deffinately the best. We even found a beautiful clearing with a tire swing! The owner was friendly and very helpful! He greeted us at our campsite and made sure we had what we needed. If you enjoy "roughing it" without needing to drive hours outside of San antonio I would highly recommend you try this campground! By sunday my kids were begging to return again next weekend. And I know we will deffinately...

Booked through Hipcamp; We located our campsite early afternoon (site 6) and then returned to our campsite later that night. Upon return, the gate to the campground was wide open with no lock in sight. This campsite was advertised as ‘private’ and the host informed us that the gate was to remain ‘closed and locked’ at all times. The entrance was not at all secured. Immediately upon this discovery, we attempted to reach the host, but our phone call went straight to voicemail. Due to the uncertainty in the lack of security, we did not feel safe staying the night.

We tried to relay our concern to the host the following day, but the host was unreasonable and unwilling to reach a mutual consensus in resolving the issue. It was stated by host that “everyone was in bed asleep”…with that logic, who closed the gate? Host, I have a suggestion- invest in a Smart Lock that’s not so...

This was an awesome find. Traveling thru needed a place to camp so we could visit downtown San Antonio. Found Lost Woods thru Hipcamp. The details in the add describe exactly what this campground is. A primitive camping spot, yet close to many attractions. We stayed 4 days here and it was wonderful. Piece and quiet, little road noise to be expected as we're in town but once you drive thru it's like being in the backwoods. James was a great host. Checked on us and it was a pleasure meeting him. If you enjoy primitive camping (no hookups, water, etc), but yet close to the city this is the place. Very fair and reasonably priced. Thanks James.
