Tent camping lone pine side Pros&cons Pros: its a very beautiful location the water is just a few yards away from the tent there is plenty of fish in the lake you can park next to your camp spot which is nice they have really nice and clean restrooms and a shower the runs off quarters(you can get change at the baitshop across the lake) has warm water has water for your outside needs like washing dishes or having a bucket of water to wash your hands trash bins are close by each camp spot has its own table and small boulders separating each spot most spots have a decent size for 2 or 3 8 people tents also has a charcoal grill for each spot
Cons: no fire pits or fires allowed only propane firepits each spot is right next to eachother to close to other people. some people stay up a little late and you can hear everything. I had a yurt tent and i could hear the people next to us talking smake about our tent they had all their chairs on our side in the morning till i came out and stared at them they came to move them quickly like if they didnt know we where there then tried to do it again the next day till i stood there watching them like a weirdo till they decided to move other then that it was a pretty amazing experience cant let wierd people ruin your vacation right? Lol
If you plan on staying here plan ahead reserve ahead of time because it does fill up fast and make sure you reserve enough days i made the mistake of only booking 2days and ended up wanting to stay the 3rd day but was booked already other then that its an amazing lake dog friendly kid friendly and peaceful when its quiet
I posted pictures of the other spots on the lone pine side since there isnt much pictures of that side hope they can help with...
Read moreLake Cuyamaca is a nice but small lake with a very welcoming general manager and friendly and helpful staff overall. We had reserved a campsite for a fishing trip at the end of summer. When we arrived we found out the lake was being stocked for an upcoming event that weekend which meant no fishing was allowed. It would have been helpful to know this at registration (we would have chosen another week) but we do understand the need to let the fish settle and are even considering coming back for the event itself.
Our 7-year-old was a little disappointed, but she understood why the lake was closed. We tried to let her practice casting with a toy practice lure on her pole, just to keep her excited about learning. Unfortunately, one employee came over rather abruptly and told us even that wasn't allowed. That was surprising, since the weekend derby event is supposed to encourage kids to get into fishing.
All in all, we give 3 stars because the lake and staff were nice, but the lack of clear communication about the fishing closure and the "no dummy fishing pole" rule left our visit less enjoyable than it...
Read moreDon't tent camp here. You can't have a wood fire and tent sites are not satisfactory. We booked site AA and it was all gravel. Not fine gravel, large gravel. I set-up my tent down the little walking trail on my camp site. Found a nice patch of grass . I was asked to take it down. I was told it could only be in one designated place. I was shocked because it was course gravel I wouldn't even be able to walk on barefoot. This is what they expected my wife and kids to sleep on. I had to go buy extra bedding to make up for the course uneven ground. Still can't believe it, not grass, not dirt, Gravel! Of course, no refunds. On top of not being able to have real fire. I had to go buy a $300 propane fire pit because that's petty much the only thing allowed. It was freezing as soon as the sun went down. Personally it's not camping unless you're sitting around a camp fire. I will say that everyone was fairly nice and the lake was beautiful. I will return, but never again will...
