We were on our way back to San Diego from a long day in the snow. GOOGLE Maps was showing the establishment as closed, but we noticed lights on so we took a chance and stopped. Turns out the place is normally closed by that hour but so many people were coming down the hill at the same time they decided to stay open. Right off the bat, we loved the atmosphere. The staff were all friendly and seemed to have a camaraderie between them that gave off a friendly, family vibe. The music was great; not so loud we had to yell to talk but loud enough to have my youngest dancing in his seat while we waited for our food. The place was packed, it was after hours, and there was a small wait for food. But several different staff members stopped by to top off drinks, laugh and joke with our (tired, hungry, and grouchy) youngest, and assure us that the food was on its way. Once delivered, 2 different staff stopped by to make sure it was to our liking. The food was good, the staff was attentive, and they managed a packed restaurant with smiles and laughter when they could have just closed their doors for the night. Overall, this was a great experience for our family and a cherry on top of our snow-day sundae.

We happened upon The Pub at Lake Cuyamaca completely by accident, and we are glad we asked about the closed sign to go in because this was hands down some of the loveliest food we've had in San Diego. Their Fish and Chips basket was good portioned, spouse got the Nickel Burger which was divine and gone before I could get a photo, but all in all it was crispy, fresh, flavorful and delightful down to the last onion ring. We went home with an Apple Berry Crisp pie which also was gone by the end of the following day. Stop by, grab the lads and lasses a beer (they have the option to tip the kitchen staff a beer, and it was a necessity after the magnificent meal we had), and enjoy the view from their lovely lakeside property. This is absolutely a mom and pop shop, and while I'm sure they can handle high traffic (they had customers in and out so quickly, even our food came super fast and was womderfully fresh) I suggest you go when its quiet so you can enjoy your wine or beer with the view. Thank you for restoring our faith im the service industry!

I camped at the lake for the weekend and decided to visit the Pub at Lake Cuyamaca for breakfast prior to departing for home. The restaurant is under new management and was recently renovated. The restaurant looks really nice with patio seating over looking the lake. If you’re lucky you will see a Bald Eagle or two. The restaurant opens at 0900 and I arrived around 0905. I checked in and was told there would be a 5-10 minute wait due to the “rush”. The restaurant wasn’t busy and it was obvious they were having a staffing issue. But no big deal. We eventually were sat at a table. The staff was friendly, the view is pretty good and we had a good time. I ordered the Breakfast Burger which was not nearly as good as it looked. I expected a lot of flavor from what I was looking at. Unfortunately ‘bland’ is how I would describe it. For $20.00 I expected a little more. The potatoes were really good. I don’t know if I would return but give it a shot. I certainly didn’t try everything on the menu and it could’ve been an off day for them. Enjoy!

Service was horrible. I deleted my review from 2 years ago where I gave them 5 stars. We came back down e to it USED to be a great place. Service was so horrific. We sat down at bar seating no and there was a rush so we were patient. Our server (who didn’t acknowledge us at all) eventually came to help 18min later. Gave us our drinks and when we asked for a glass we were given a dirty glass. You could see lip stick remains from previous. We walked in and place was about 50% full and there was a 10min wait, why not sure, bus lady just liked to stand around. They had no cashiers at store and had to come to bar to buy ice cream, chips or anything sold at store. Horribly managed establishment. We have come here for years even before the NEW owners came in. I own a business and would have be appalled by the lack of efficiency as well as the horrible customer service. Usually I would not come here ever again but I’m going to continue to come and order minimum items just to bring awareness and monitor their service. If I see a change with staff I will change my review but I stand firm on the 1/zero stars. Any real owner would take this review into consideration and make changes immediately. The chef’s were working hard but the other staff was a complete let down (food was quality). One bad apple to you wait staff can undermine everything else. The young lady running the bar top/register is the problem. I still gave a tip cause I know it’s shared with kitchen but I really wanted to leave no TIP cause of her. Owner/manager plz do a better job!!!!! You have a great thing going here but the service/ cleanliness was horrific!!!!!! I will not let this go and recommend to everyone that you just need to watch this and you will see...

Worst experience ever!!! We tried to eat here on a Friday night and looked up their closing time which showed 8 pm. We arrived at 7 20 pm only to be told that they were closing soon and could only accept take out orders. We left disappointed and frustrated. Since we were staying for the whole Memorial Day weekend we decided to give them a second chance, on Sunday night ,and decided to call ahead of time to see what time they were accepting last seatings. We were told over the phone that they were closing at 8 pm but to arrive by 7 to be safe. Taking their advice we arrived at 6 55 pm as advised. It took 15 min before our server showed up to take our order. To speed things up we decided to order our drinks and food at the same time, there were only 2 other tables seated at the entire restaurant. At this time to our surprise, after 15 minutes or so of waiting, our drinks never showed up. We had decided to ask another employee to please check on our drink order as our server had completely disappeared. He was nice enough to show up with our drinks and apologized for the long wait. A few minutes later our food arrived, not to our satisfaction, as the hamburger I had ordered medium rare was actually medium well at best . Still no sign of our original server as she had disappeared completely. The only other visible employee was solely focused on closing up and putting things away for the night. Our original server never came back to the table to check on us, which was extremely disappointing. Overall the food was average at best, overpriced and the service was beyond horrible. I would never recommend this place to anyone ever. Take your money into Julian and save yourselves the aggravation and...

I stumbled upon this gem of a pub while enjoying a sunny Saturday afternoon drive around Lake Cuyamaca. As soon as I walked in, the fantastic views of the sparkling lake immediately dazzled me. But that was just the beginning of my delightful experience at The Pub.

I ordered their signature burger and it was phenomenal - cooked to absolute perfection with the most flavorful beef patty I've ever tasted, topped with melted cheddar and crispy bacon on a toasted brioche bun. Each bite was pure heaven. I may or may not have actually heard angels singing as I enjoyed this burger sent straight from the gods.

Pairing this divine burger with a glass of their white wine was a match made in foodie heaven. The crisp notes of the wine complemented the burger flawlessly. Let's just say that plate was cleaned faster than a black hole devours light.

With stellar food, an ambiance offering stunning lake views, and prompt yet unintrusive service, The Pub exceeded my expectations across the board. I'll be reliving the memory of that perfect afternoon for years to come. This is hands-down a 5-star dining experience that I can't recommend highly enough for anyone searching for a tasty meal with awe-inspiring views and a laidback vibe. Just be warned - once you eat that burger, all others will pale in comparison...
