This "campground" is basically a Mobile Home Park with a few "camping" spots ... all private, woodsy spaces (i.e. the west-side of the "campground", away from tent camping) are occupied by LONG-STAY tenants! This business property is NOT wilderness or next-to-nature (unless you consider hearing birds as "nature"). The owners DON'T CARE if campers arrive or if campers have a peaceful stay as they get solid $$$'s from the year-round tenants. This business property is not wilderness or next-to-nature (unless you consider hearing birds as "nature"). The tent spaces are small and close to each other with sparse greenery but you can enjoy asphalt, dumpsters & unattended kids going thru your campsite. You can't hike or bike near your site, as there's only "campground" roads and the busy highway next to the place. This business property is not wilderness or quiet. Unless you plug in earphones & are oblivious to what's around you, you will notice problems. This last time, we were given left-over firewood by next-door campers: we went to Julian and came back to find the firewood GONE from our campsite, along with a spoon we had near the wood pile! One night, campers to the east of us stayed EXTREMELY LOUD until 11:30p.m. (the group was partying & you could clearly hear their cursing & laughing)...we tried to go to sleep at 10pm but we could not drown out the loud people: why aren't the "campground" employees monitoring excessive and late noise as their brochure states? Campers are not given a phone # to call if there are problems and apparently the west-end, long-term tenants don't complain about that noise because they were too far away from the noise-makers. We put up with Pinezanita's "camping" only because we drive to the Julian area...
Read moreWe stayed here Aug 4th-7th with our 9 year old grand daughter. It accommodates RV's, Trailers, Tents with a few full timers. Its nice sized and well maintained. We had a 24 ft trailer that fit nicely on a flat gravel site along with our large tow vehicle. Plenty of room for our awning and slide out. We had a nice fire pit and a picnic table, along with shade from oak, sycamore, beech and shrubs. Nice paved roads and gravel on sites. We hooked up to city water and electric. There is a good dump station on site. We stayed very near the little pond. Its low due to drought years, and muddy due to the clay, but supported plenty of good sized cat fish, and lots of those little sun fish that hang around the edges. And a great big frog my grand daughter named Peepers, because he swam all over with just his eyes above water. She LOVED this pond. She went fishing 2-3 times a day and caught (and released) 3 large catfish and lots of the little ones. Who knew hot dogs were such good bait) This was a great central location. We loved the Wolf Conservation Center right down the road. Julian activities 2 miles away. Ice cream, baked goods, gold mine tour, and some old time funny outdoor plays/reenactments. We also spent a day at the Himalayan Tourmaline mine Dig out by Lake Henshaw.....25 miles or so away. It has a nice camp store and movie rentals at the office. Highway noise was minimal. Other campers were fairly considerate noise wise. They were not full and it looked as though they tried to keep some space between campers. Free internet at the patio outside...
Read moreStayed 3 nights at this RV Park in March 2024. The staff were friendly, the park is clean and it is in a very pretty location. It had a mix of long term residents and short term spaces and I would say it is reasonably priced as well. The only negative thing I would say is that the short term section I was in was basically empty with relatively few campers. When I made the reservation I asked to be away from other campers if possible and it was that way when I checked in. But within hours there was another RV right next to ours - why they put someone in the space next to us when that whole section was basically empty is beyond my understanding. And of course the RV that parked next to us ran their heater every 15 minutes and it was loud as a freight train which definitely had a negative impact on our stay. Yes, I could have moved spaces but it was snowing that day and the office told me the RV next to us would be leaving the next day. So stayed put - of course it turned out the RV next to us was still there when we checked out. That spoiled what would have been an almost...
