I had an unfortunate experience at the Magnuson Hotel this past evening. I was supposed to stay from Friday (Nov 8) to Sunday (Nov 10). I called the to let the hotel know that I would be arriving way past check in, at 2 am. When I arrived the front desk clerk was asleep and I had to wake him up to check in, a safety issue for all hotel guests. When I arrived up to my room, it was filthy, but it’s a budget hotel, so I was willing to overlook the years of bare minimum cleanings and just get through the night and cancel my stay in the morning. Before I went to sleep my eyes were watery and my nose was runny, I assumed it was just because I was tired, but was I wrong. When I woke up I went over to the window to close the curtains, and found mold all over the air conditioning unit. It had been an issue so long the mold had also started to grow onto the curtain. I immediately reached out to the third party booking site to cancel the rest of my stay and request a refund. When I went to check out, I again requested a refund for the 7 hours (from 2 am to 9 am) I was at the hotel. Having a sensitivity to mold, staying in that room overnight was a hazard to my health, and asking for a refund did not seem like an unreasonable request, if anything it felt like a bare minimum compensation for the issues I brought forth. First, the front desk clerk refuted my claim that the overnight auditor being asleep was a security issue and that anyone could come in and out of the hotel whenever. I was given a refund for the night I didn’t stay at the hotel, but was refused a refund for the evening I did stay. When I requested they reconsider their decision the front desk clerk asked me “Why did you stay? me personally I wouldn’t have stayed.” I don’t think one apology was issued by the front desk clerk or the manager that was on the phone during the time I spoke to hotel staff, and I was nothing but polite thanking them for their time. Then on top of that, an hour later after I left I called because I thought I had lost my passport. When I called they stated it wasn’t there, so I spent the whole day retracing my steps. They called 4 hours later and informed me it had been in their printer. So the overnight front desk agent forgot to give them my documents and left it out for anyone to have access to. It’s unfortunate that customer service standards have dropped to lows like this. I’ve contacted their corporate office and hopefully I’ll be offered a better resolution and more compassion, and will update the review...
Read moreI cannot even give this facility any stars and if negative stars were a thing I don’t think I could give enough! The facility is falsely advertised stating a pool is present and open, free full hot breakfast, clean rooms, accessible parking, etc. Upon arrival the front desk worker was pleasant, but the place smelled of mildew, stale rooms & marijuana. Our group spent the evening outside and once we were done we picked up our mess and disposed of properly. The following day the GM (with absolutely no managerial skills or manners) harassed several members of the team about the pet policy, but there was a very large dog staying at the hotel that would bark at anyone that walked past and we were told that it was a service dog which is 100% untrue. True service animals do not behave that way! We also saw a few other pets that did not fit the bill for a service dog. After the manager yelled at some of our group members she then threatened to kick everyone out & call the police, which she didn’t do. When we returned to the facility I overheard a phone conversation with the owner of the property. She was making false remarks regarding the previous night so I interrupted the conversation to correct the incorrect information! The second night we were congregating in the parking lot and the GM came over and began attacking the group AGAIN! She then proceeded to call the group names like entitled, illiterate and insinuated that we were ignorant. The group tried talking with her but she continued the hostility and walked away. She at No point conducted herself in a professional manner! The other customers at the facility said that they had problems with her and after reading the reviews wished we would have stayed elsewhere. The other staff seemed to be nice, but cannot say the same for the GM. Our room smelled horrible and I had to buy Febreeze and open the window, but it still smelled bad when we left. The bathroom door would stick due to uneven floors, the switch cover and toilet paper holder were not secured to the wall. Very disappointed with this experience. After check out $200 dollars was charged to my card without prior approval or any explanation what the charge was for. I called back and could not get an explanation from the staff and the manager was not on the property. I asked for a call back and have not received one yet! I would not recommend this place to...
Read moreThe front desk associate (WOC) was very sweet. She explained all the details of our stay. We got our keycards and headed upstairs to our (2 rooms, 2 nights) rooms. All throughout the hallway there was the lingering smell of cigarettes & weed. But our "non-smoking" room wasn't noticeable for the smell. In the room, we noticed cigarette burns / holes in the blankets, the toilet paper holder was coming unattached from the wall so that we had to push it back in every time we used it. Our AC was basically stuck at 61°F (16°C). Now personally, I loved that. But others in the room thought they were going to freeze to death. We had to ask for extra blankets. There was a spot of black mold on the ceiling. And the headboard of one of the beds was cracked and coming apart. We found a dirty black sock on the desk chair along with .50 cents in various coins. So even though the room looked fairly clean, it hadn't been cleaned properly. The room was quite spacious though. The "breakfast" is nothing more than a few choices of granola bars / prepackaged muffins, prepackaged fruit cups, some fresh bananas, Sunny D juice. I don't remember if there was milk or not. The breakfast is behind the front desk so you have to ask the associate for each item. There is a small coffee bar that's 24 hrs I believe. Nothing special. The location is pretty much surrounded by factories and car dealerships etc.. I think we saw a small strip-mall a lil down the street. Carl's Jr fast food and a Chinese restaurant were the only places we noticed to eat close by. The police did a full drive by circling the hotel before sitting on the side of the main road radaring. We didn't see homeless or any scary type figures around. But it's not the nicest looking area by far. The place is old. It could use A LOT of updating. However, we felt ok, but, it's not a place I'll book again if I need to return to the Tulsa area. The price vs the quality etc.. was...
