My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary. Pam and Larry are incredible hosts. They welcomed us in like family and their personalities really add to the charm of this beautiful B&B. Breakfast was a real treat. Larry is a talented and creative cook. We especially enjoyed his crust less quiche and lavender scones. The house is beautifully furnished with antique furniture. Pam and Larry invited us to enjoy a few glasses of wine with them in the parlor. In the parlor you'll find an antique working piano, fireplace and a cozy old time atmosphere. We stayed in the William and Mary cottage that has been restored from a little home built in 1850 where seven children were brought up. We enjoyed the spacious bath tub and privacy of being seperate from the house. I'm quite sure the rooms are very nice, as well. We plan to stay in a room for our next trip there. The grounds are beautiful as well. There is plenty of space to wonder and explore. They grow seven types of lavender and Larry let me take a a few pieces of each home with me. We bought their cookbook and a couple of their custom made mugs. We can't...
Read moreWe had the pleasure of staying at The Gables Wine Country Inn when we visited the area. It is a great central location to explore all different valleys and areas of wine country. It’s a lovely Victorian home. If antiques are your vibe then this place fits the bill. You won’t be disappointed. One thing to note is that there are no tvs in the rooms and that was ok even for an avid tv watcher like me because that would ruin the vibe and aesthetic. Pam & Larry could not be better hosts. They are extremely accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable about the area. And the breakfast!! Breakfast at 9am every morning was absolutely delicious. We waited with anticipation to see what they would come up with. It never ceased to amaze us. There was plenty of outdoor space to relax with a bottle of wine after the day’s activities or to enjoy your coffee in the morning. If you are looking for a unique place to stay and not your average cookie cutter hotel then don’t hesitate to...
Read moreLarry and Pam are not just great innkeepers, they are also: consummate chefs, knowledgeable guides of the Sonoma wine scene, artists, winemakers…the list goes on, and yes, I’m ranting a bit. As chefs: each breakfast is an event. Larry makes his own bread, using his own starter, native yeasts. The outcome is amazing. He creates the main dish for each breakfast, from feather-light soufflés to elaborate egg dishes. As guides: they connected us with the most phenomenal Sonoma winemakers: Mike Talty, Carol Shelton, Phyllis Zouzounis, and many others. As artists: each guest room, and the dining room, is a study in color coordination, local art, and period accessories. As winemakers: they even have a vineyard of Riesling grapes, and made a wine from it blended with Viognier grapes! We emerged spoiled, happy, and grateful that they were such caring hosts. Do yourself...
