I was not going to write a review on this place initially because I was going to chalk it up to you get what you pay for but the next morning I got an additional surprise so here goes. I should note that the desk staff is very nice but the other staff that handle the grounds and seem to live on site are a little weird/nosy as they first opened their door to stare at us coming into our room and then walked back and forth throughout the day and night by both rooms. I didn't realize they were staff until the next day when they were doing groundskeeping. The flowers are well cared for.
Booked 2 rooms - they couldn't be next to each other due to setup, no biggie willing to pay to upgrade one room to be in the same building. The guy was nice enough to waive the $20 upgrade charge without being asked. This was at check in time about 3:10, This is my reason for 2 stars rather than 1 star.
Opened up the rooms and first things to note is both rooms have a musty smell which in a motel style place by the ocean is not unusual but the towels look and feel like they were purchased 20 years ago and never replaced. I did not ask my second room occupants to provide feedback on their room.
Fast forward to 3:23 - received an email telling me to call them because last check in is at 10pm, reading some reviews at that point it seems they are very very strict on check in times and not getting notified could get a reservation canceled even if it would be before 10pm- so responded that we had already checked in.
The tub and sink are in disrepair with chips out of the tub and rust in the sink. Washing my hands I found out that I had no cold water only very hot water and when you turn off the hot water the cold is a trickle of slightly less hot water. Breathe deep at this point.
About 15 minutes after using the bathroom I'm heading an odd water sound. The toilet seems to have forgotten it is done filling but is not overflowing, give it a little jiggle and seems to resolve. About an hour later we return to the room from dinner and it is doing it again. Jiggle again and trickle stops. Then it seems another room in the building has flushed a toilet given the pipe sounds being very loud and then the toilet begins to trickle again like ours was flushed. Mystery solved? Repeat this 2 times during the night loud enough to wake us up to correct it.
These beds are extremely uncomfortable. Occupants of both rooms agree.
Next morning kiddo goes to hop in the shower only to find, (surprise!) the shower has no water in the hot spout and the knob seems to be an infinite twirl. Good thing we have 2 rooms, child sent to shower in the other room. So one room has no hot in the shower and no cold in the sink. Odd
It really is a shame that our experience in room 202 was unpleasant because it looks like some really cared for this place a couple decades ago or they are solely focused on the jacuzzi suites only. Someday I may return to this quirky little town but I don't know what it would take to return to these lodgings. It has a lot of potential because our building had balconies on the back and the location is great for the nearby...
Read moreI have always loved Sequim Bay Lodge it's the only place we ever stay when we head out that way on a getaway!! However, I was utterly displeased with the hotel on the strip not only is the pool no longer available the ice machine is no longer available to the units at the top of the hill you have to walk all the way down to the manager's office the cart was left out at 7:30 in the morning I believe so you can basically grab your own stuff that you need for your room I waited for the housekeeper to come down cuz I do not go through people's carts just to exchange out a decaf coffee for a regular coffee and no one returned to the cart for over 30 minutes I waited and I ended up just switching it out myself. I am a very cheerful person and greeted the staff in the morning and was looked at like I was crazy. I called the front desk to give them my Best Western's reward card number and was informed they are no longer a Best Western however, they uphold the Best Westerns standards. Not!! I found it very odd that they still have all the Best Western logo stuff in the bathrooms. When we checked in the gentleman was on the phone giving rates which was okay no biggie however, when it came to checking us in he was very rude when my husband had asked about signing the slip he promptly pointed at the signature line and weirdly said right there sign right there!! It has been over a year since we stayed there and we normally pay at checkout but, paying for our room in advance was just fine. There was what I can only assume was tobacco in the drawers. Dust n dried soda or cup stickiness on nightstand lighting in room was awful very dim room. Used coffee pod in coffee maker I don't know how long it had been there, soap felt like sandpaper n a rust mark or watermark under sink, walls really dirty, t.v was small, cable was confusing n Wi-Fi awful had to connect to my own Wi-Fi to get service, bed was ok if you like extra firm while I was tucking in sheets our 2nd day I found 2 torn lingerie between mattress n box spring. They also had a big sign in reception area that stated "no longer serving food" so, no longer offers continental breakfast. Was very disappointed have stayed at this hotel for years and its gone down hill since our last stay!! We will no longer stay at this hotel!! I cleaned the room be for we left. A/C barely worked didn't cool room at all dust shot out of vent, the last minor thing was the shower head was great lots of water shot out but, water was shooting from spout also and wasn't...
Read moreThis is a family-owned hotel, low price for this area, right on the 101 just east of Sequim. ||Our room was clean, a young guy Aaron on the desk was very polite and welcoming when we checked in, the king bed was firm and comfortable, I slept great. I've read some of the other reviews and daily maid service isn't so common nowadays, I had no problem with not having it. Towels are very small and thin but that's common in low cost hotels. There is a pool but it wasn't filled when we were there, we didn't care as we were there for the hiking and exploring, and there was no clock in the room, which we also didn't care about - have phones for that. ||We stayed in a first floor, middle room in the back wing of the hotel and it was quiet in our room, no sleep interruption. We couldn't figure out how to get the cable to work and Aaron's uncle came as soon as we called the desk and showed us how to do it and was polite and friendly. ||We brought our dog and there's a big field next to the hotel where you can take them to play and he loved that. I initially was going to book on a site but then thought I should call and make sure of the pet policy and found out that they don't take pet reservations from the booking sites, you need to call directly as they have a limited number of pet rooms and don't get that reservation from the online sites, so be sure to call them if you're bringing your pet.||Personally, I wasn't expecting the Taj Mahal or the Ritz at this price, I looked for something affordable and serviceable. I found it comfortable, was glad to find a cheap place to take the dog and it was perfectly convenient to get out onto the highway and go to the forest, the shore or the mountains in and around Olympic National Park - we were there for the adventure and not to hang out in a room. I also make it a practice to book local and family-owned hotels and restaurants and this fit the bill. ||They do need to get around to painting and fixing minor things we saw in the room but none of those things would deter me from staying again if the price is still right, and we...
