We learned the hard way to wait to leave an honest review after you check out of your motel. My dear husband left an honest , detailed review after he and one of our children returned to our room, after attempting to get some breakfast this morning . I later walked down with our other children , and though the selection was limited , we had begun eating our breakfast . (1/2 hour after breakfast start time , my husband had found the waffle maker had not been plugged in . He plugged it in. ) My daughters and I were trying to make the most of it : a few bites of waffles , ( now that it was hot) ; a banana ; mediocre coffee that ran out as I was trying to get some for one of my daughters . Suddenly , we were interrupted by the motel manager (who said he was one of the owners ). He proceeded to complain to us about my husband's 1* review . I calmly told him that if he had a problem with my husband's review , he needed to take it up with him . He continued to raise his voice , and I repeated that he needed to discuss this with my husband . He said something about us complaining about the lack/mediocre food , and yet we were there eating it. It was then that I told our girls , "Let's go, now". He yelled at us to get out . I started crying just a few steps out the door , and barely made it back to our room before I collapsed on the floor . It was by the grace of God that I was able to pack up the few items we'd had in the fridge overnight . The girls and I loaded up and waited in the car for my husband to go speak to the manager . When we were on the road , my husband told me he was able to get out one sentence , "You made my wife cry, and scared my kids ! " After that , evidently the manager waved his arms while yelling and swearing at my husband . Needless to say , we will NEVER stay at this motel again . The saddest part is not even that we canceled a different reservation at another motel b/c that one did not have "breakfast " listed , but this one did . The saddest part was that even though my husband fixed several of the issues in our room himself , (running toilet ; dirty floor , etc . ), it is that this manager /part owner -- whoever left a comment after my husband's review that was completely false . He's claiming that he had to "call the cops" on my husband b/c "he was drunk and our children were throwing things". Everyone who knows us knows that we never drink , and our children are well behaved . This is hopefully the first and last time I ever have to leave a poor review . I just pray that no one else has to experience what we did , and that the guy will get ...
Read moreTL;DR: worst hotel I've ever stayed in.
I booked our room months before my travel. We were going to be getting in late, and it was a special event that had the nearby towns all booked up, so I called about 6:30pm to confirm my reservation. First off, the manager/owner was extremely rude from the beginning. He said the paperwork from the website says not to call the hotel. Well, it didn't, and calling because you'll be late is necessary to prevent a no-show if you'll arrive after 11pm, per the paperwork. I started to explain, and he interrupted me, to apologise for being rude.
So, he confirmed we were good, which reduced my stress for the rest of the long drive.
After dealing with some horrendous thunderstorms, we arrived about 1am. It was still pouring rain, so I waited behind the vehicle in the covered check-in spot outside the office. Well, no one came to move it. In fact, it turns out it was the manager's suv. He actually stood there watching us while smoking under the cover. So I had to park a few spots down from the office and run in, getting soaked on the way.
The same guy I talked to on the phone, the smoking manager with the SUV, he's the one at the desk. he informs me he reported us as a no-show to the booking website. He says he'll honor their price for one night, but we'd have to rebook our next two nights at current price (which had tripled by then) in the morning.
Once we are in our room, I call the booking site and explained. Apparently they called him, but he refused to reinstate the booking, and they couldn't force him, so there was nothing they could help with. They offered to find another accommodation, and sent me an email, but all they came up with was 2 Airbnb rooms for rent, 50 miles away.
The sheets weren't clean. we noticed something dark smudged on them, and when we woke up, we were both itchy. The carpet was old, and looked like no one had vacuumed it, much less shampooed it, for months. There was some type of critter feces in the room (resembled rabbit poo).
In the light of day we got to see the horror that was the wall against the side of the bed. Bodily fluids had been repeatedly applied, dripping down, and no one every washed the wall. There were also some obvious repairs done to the walls where people had punched through in the past.
We had a wonderful view of the wall of the next building.
The AC worked great, but it was terribly noisy.
Luckily the wireless internet access, that had gone out with the storm, came back up. I was able to find us another hotel for the next two days, in a different town.
If the room had been clean, I'd call this a one star motel that should be only 25.99 per night. I wouldn't be surprised if they had an hourly rate, either. As it is, this place should be shut down by the...
Read moreI just spent an hour and 45 minutes trying to GET a reservation and then cancelling said reservation. The man who answered the phone told me I couldn't make the reservation directly with him, and when I called back to ask WHICH link I should use to make the reservation, he very hurriedly told me I could use "any of them." Well, I made it with the first one which was Reservations.com, and when the confirmation came through, they had charged me $85.55 instead of the $78.39 he said it would be. When I called him back to ask why the difference, he said when he looked at the Expedia site, they had charged me $60.02. I told him I had gone through Reservations.com, and he couldn't explain what was going on. He became rude and hostile and told me to cancel the reservation and go elsewhere. When I called Reservations.com, they told me it was a nonrefundable reservation (and WHEN was I told THAT???), and explained the difference in the charge was the FOURTEEN DOLLARS they charged for making the reservation. ??? (Why would I have done that had I known??) After arguing with her for several minutes, I told her that the man had TOLD me to get a refund, and she could either get it taken care of or let me speak to her supervisor or I would call my bank and tell them not to pay that charge. When she put me on hold, I called the hotel and asked the man for his name, which he refused to give me and he hung up on me. When the lady came back on the phone, I told her that I had tried to get the man's name, but he refused to give it...she said she would call him and I sat on hold for 15 minutes. She then came back on the phone and told me she would refund me $71.55 and tried to end the call. I told her I was NOT going to pay $14.00 that in the first place I was not told I would be charged for going through them, and in the second place for a reservation that I had been told by the "man" "Get a refund and go elsewhere!" I told her to either refund the entire amount, get her supervisor, or I would notify my bank. In all my 76 years, I have NEVER had a problem making a hotel reservation, and I told the "man" that had I looked at the reviews for his establishment before calling in the first place, I would have booked somewhere else. One other thing, when I simply asked him what they served for breakfast, he said "waffles and a few other things", and when I asked him if they served any kind of eggs, his answer was, "If you want bacon and eggs, book at the Cobblestone, but it'll cost you $130." I should have know instantly by that unprofessional comment, that I didn't want to stay there in the first place. It would have saved me 2 hours and some distress!!!!!!! My advice...book at the...
