The atmosphere and interior was very enchanting but that was about it. I wouldn't say the doorman was rude but he was not friendly either just reserved and hard to read. Our server was quiet but friendlier.
My first complaint is going to be the bathroom, the toilet dispenser had what I can only imagine was mucus wiped across it and on the left side of the stall there was fecal splatter on the stall wall.
Now to the food, my partner and I both immediately started to feel sick minutes after eating. My partner got the enchiladas rancheros and I got the enchiladas mexicanas. The food did not come out piping hot it was closer to lukewarm, my plate was hotter than the food was. The chicken in the chicken burrito was dry and didn't seem fresh, the beef burrito was okay and the bean burritos were disgusting. The baked beans in the burritos were a pale Gray and did not taste right.
In 2 minutes it took me to walk from the restaurant to the hotel my body had had enough of what I had eaten and made a full Purge and I barely made it to the restroom in time. I'd like to add that myself nor my partner have a weak stomach, we love Mexican food and never get sick from it when it's prepared properly. We have no food sensitivities that would lead us to get sick either.
At first I was pleasantly surprised at how fast our food came out but then the fact it came out in less than 5 minutes and how sick myself and my partner feel it seems suspicious. Most restaurants take at least 10-15 minutes to make a meal the size of which we ordered.
I can't know for certain but in my experience both eating and working at restaurants it seems like this one might be refrigerating and warming up food. Which would also explain why we feel so sick and why are food was not piping hot as it should be. I actually don't know that I've eaten at a family Mexican restaurant where the food did not come out piping hot.
I would air with a side of caution when eating here and definitely cut open your burritos inspect the food and be careful.
I think the only good thing about the entire experience was the horchata.
I would avoid this restaurant and recommend the owner/manager thoroughly inspect how the food is being kept and prepared or if they're aware of the issue I highly recommend they change how they handle their food because something is not right here. The fact that we got sick so fast is a sign that there is some sort of foodborne illness growing in the food we ate.
I hate having to make reviews like this for nice little family restaurants that seem like they're going to be pleasant to eat at, I don't say any of this lightly. It breaks my heart when I have to leave a really bad review for a local small business but we just do not get sick for no reason like this ever, from food...
Read moreI was in town for work. Let me start by saying, the margarita was good tasting and strong. I wish they had given me time to drink it more before I got the food, because maybe it would have made me forget how bland the food was. Actually, I had chips and salsa first. The margarita probably had more salt on the rim than the whole basket of stale chips, and the salsa was as spicy and flavorful as mild pace salsa. I was disappointed because all the reviews said this was the best this area had to offer, and it seems to be ringing true, which is why it got 3 stars instead of 2 (earned a star for the awesome margarita and a star for the decent service and the adorable child running around). I am not sure if I have just gotten unlucky, but it doesn’t seem like rural Nebraska knows that spice or flavor exists. Reminds me of when I lived in North Dakota where their idea of flavor was to deep fry the life out of it. It is sad, because Mexican food usually has so much to offer. The most ok item I had on my plate was the chile relleno. I’d order that again, and the refried beans had more flavor than the enchilada or the burrito. Honestly, if you just get chile rellenos and refried beans, that is like 4 star quality. Oh, I also had food poisoning after, so that took a few stars down. It is all I ate that day and it started about 4 hours after dinner, so I am pretty sure that is where I got it. I only puked twice and it was all the beef from the burrito and enchilada. I don’t want to tell about what came out the other end. Woke up and felt fine though.
Overall, friendly people, good alcohol. Would go again, just probably wouldn’t...
Read moreWalked in the door,. Nice looking place, I had high hopes for a good meal. I love Mexican food. We had a group of seven, they sat us at a table for six. No big deal, I just grabbed another table and butted it up. They brought out the chips and "salsa". Flavorless watered down tomato sauce would be a more apt description. Ordered our food. When the food came out I had to walk to the front of the restaurant and grab another set of silverware so I would not have to use my hands, since they only gave us six. They serve small portions, which could be overlooked if the food was good. That was not the case here. The food was absolutely flavorless. Mexican food is not supposed to be bland. I don't just mean that it wasn't spicy.. it wasn't at all..but absolutely no flavor whatsoever. The owners focused so much on making the building look nice, Maybe they thought people would overlook the fact that they can't cook. None of us will bother eating there again. My suggestion is that you should do the same. You'll have a better experience at the burger joint with the...
