Shawnee Chief Motel — Hotel in Shawneetown

Talked to lady on the phone told her we need it for a month. Was told 700 dollars and a 100 dollar non refundable pet deposit. Ok cool. We paid it price is high for just a small motel room. After that she says what about the 500 dollar non refundable deposit ? Wait what room deposit knowing we didn't have it. Had been living in our car for 2 weeks. Well she said go to Southern Illinois help center behind the motel. I did they said they can't pay it. I called and told her ,she said we have to be out by 11 am tomorrow morning. The State of Illinois has a law that non refundable deposit are not legal.. Our toilet kept clogging up trash in flower beds. Bed was broke door didn't lock on the inside. Ask yourself some questions...1st are you looking for a cheap place to stay? Yes, yup this place works. 2.are you super tired and simply dont want to sleep in your car? Yes, yup this place has beds, and bathrooms...Not likely that you'll have any issues, small little sleepy town, low crime rate. But lock your car doors, sleepy doesn't mean stupid, opportunity still occurs. Worse case though is you may get to witness a domestic across the way, or have a beer with a local (yes, depending on the local, it's a worst...

Not even worth 1 star! 1st room we got the bed was completely broken! 2nd room made it 2 foot in the room and the floor had grass clippings everywhere. 3rd room we tried, the sheets and pillows had stains and hair on them. Floor hadn't been vacuum and the shower curtain was hanging by a few broken clips. Smelled horrible! Can NOT believe this place is even open for business. And I can normally sleep anywhere. This was disgusting!
