Thank you for your wonderful hospitality during our recent stay. You are very amiable hosts. We felt instantly comfortable. COVID precautions were handled very comfortably and completely. A bright fire and a wide ranging vinyl collection made for enjoyable evenings. John Coltrane, Johnny Cash, Carol King, Simon and Garfunkel plus made for a musical memory trip. Fantastic breakfasts. If only I could eat that well at home. The omelette with goat cheese and shallot was perfectly balanced so that no single flavor overpowered another. A wonderful savory wake up! The French toast made with Hager’s cranberry walnut bread was perfect. Light, toasted, chewy and slightly crunchy. We tried to buy some of the cranberry walnut bread at Hager’s on our way home. They were sold out (no surprise) but we got great walnut maple and garlic dill loaves. Thank you for using these great local foods. They undoubtably cost more and are less convenient to procure but they made a huge contribution to our enjoyment. The food was so good I almost forgot to comment on the accommodations. Comfortable bed, silent even heating, plenty of hot water and a comfortable chair for reading. The room had many charming idiosyncrasies that you expect in well maintained 18th century houses: uneven floors, slopped ceilings, sticky door latches, short mirrors, clothes hanging bracket etc. Don’t change any of these things. They made us feel like we we were in a real early American home (with a lot of 20th century comforts). Thank you for a wonderful experience at The Shelburne House. It’s now on our list of repeat b&bs. We’ll be visiting again soon.

Read moreWe have visited the Shelburne Falls, MA area many times over the years and had never found a good place to stay until this trip. The Shelburne House ( a 5 minute drive from Shelburne Falls) is wonderful in every respect! We stayed three nights in the Fellows Room. It was very comfortable. The bed was excellent; there was a writing desk, two reading seats, and (if needed) a window air conditioner. The bathroom, which had both a tub and small shower, was sparkling clean. Our breakfasts were delicious and varied, and our hostess Sarah was kind, solicitous, knowledgeable about the area and its offerings, and super nice. There is a mini-fridge in the main hall for guests to use. The B&B is located on a smallish but well used road, though at night the traffic diminished, so noise was not an issue. The grounds are lovely, and the main public room looks out over the Berkshire Hills. The owners accept guests only on the weekends, so plan ahead, at least that's what we'll do because we want to stay there whenever we...
Read moreAn absolute gem. Everything was perfect. Super clean room, with a firm mattress and private bathroom attached to the room. Surroundings amid the apple orchards made me feel like I was really at the end of the earth, with quiet and a superb night's sleep. And then... there was breakfast... Oh. My. God. I get a call from Sarah the day before, asking me what I wanted for breakfast, and whether I had any questions. Like... really? Have you ever had that kind of service in your life? The bacon was PERFECTLY cooked, the omelet was delicious, and the home fries were neither mushy nor greasy - perfect, in other words - which Sarah later told me was because Nathan parboils them before roasting. Anyway - the next day was waffles, with the perfectly-sized bits of blueberry and strawberry on top, and they were full of flavor, since they were in-season. Sarah and Nathan hit a home run, as far as I was concerned....
