Im from Shelbyville so I'm very familiar with the spillway hotel. I've never really had a problem with the hotel itself; you can't beat the price for the quality of the hotel i guess you could say. I've stayed in a lot worse. About a month ago; the owners wife decided that she was going to get about an inch away from my face and scream at the top of her lungs at me. This woman called me everything but my name. From a nasty "c" and beyond.. excuse my language but there's really no good description for the names she called me. All because this woman's grown adult (20) niece and I got into a heated altercation (outside of the business she runs). The hotel was BOOKED the day she did this. Fourth of July weekend. Everyone was outside grilling, playing games .. literally EVERYONE was outside. This woman was threatening me up one side and down another. While everyone there stood and watched her make a fool of herself. That same night she attacked a girl the same age as her niece and beat her up while someone held the girl down. The whole time this woman is yelling profanities and threats at me, I'm calmly asking if she wanted to know the truth of what happened. Never once did I yell back, or curse at her. I let her make herself look like a fool. ||Now today... my boyfriends car overheats due to a blown head gasket. When it overheats, it needs jumped to start. He parked in the back of the hotel, walked up and seen his son who is staying in a room there at the moment. We go to leave and the car is in the red overheating. This woman sticks her head out of the door, sees me and instantly loses her cool. Once again, numerous people are outside and listening to her call me names and threaten to call the cops. ||||Mind you... this is over a personal issue with someone else (yes, someone she's related to.. but not her) that she is bringing up and making a scene over at her place of business. Highly unprofessional and extremely unnecessary. I sincerely apologize to anyone that had to listen to her act like she was a hyped up, strung out, hood teenager or even deal with her afterwards. I used to highly recommend the spillway to anyone needing a room, but now I could care less if the dam breaks. ||||Maybe if the hotel were to get different owners and management, Itd be...
Read moreThis place has to be the worst place I have ever stayed. Soon as I entered the room the smell was horrible. 2 out of the 3 beds had blood all over the sheets and pillow cases. We had someone change the sheers and pillow cases. We spent almost 3 hrs of cleaning before we even felt close enough to bring our stuff in. Left over food in the freezer and fridge. Looks like someone had not cleaned that room in years. Dust and cobwebs allover. Mold in bathroom. In shower and on walls. Drywall sagging and seams busted. The neighbors all smoking pot. Cars in lot on jacks. Top it off toliet stopped flushing. So we left 2 days early. Do not stay at this pig pen. Would be nice to e reimbursed for the 2 says we didn't stay but probably would not happen.

It was brought to someone's attention. I had went into the office and told a older lady bout it she walked out and then a guy come in and informed him of the situation and he then had a girl come down to the room. Showed her and she changed the sheets and was gonna leave pillow cases till i asked her to change them yo. I asked her if she could take the food out of fridge and possibly clean up bit. She said she would. But never showed back up. As far as the dust. I have lived in the country most of my life. On dusty roads and my house never looked like this. If I could of found a different place to stay I would of but unfortunately I could not. Atleast 3 employees knew of the issues. I guess there is no communication. I guess it's a lesson learned on my end. And you got paid for 2 nights we...
Read moreJust what we needed! Fresh sheets and towels, memory foam beds, dated but still refreshed room, direct tv, ac, full size fridge, microwave and coffee maker and it was a quiet little motel to rest our heads while our family braved the heat and rain camping nearby. No bugs. And the soap they provide is bath and body works!
Reading the reviews I didn’t know what to expect but honestly it’s a hidden gem. Yes there were a few residents that looked like they could have been staying awhile but they were all friendly and waved. It’s also a bait shop and all the fisherman were nice.
The parks across the road by the dam are so pretty and well maintained and nice playgrounds! Beach nearby too! Wayne the ole man at the nearby gas station was nice too! We had Lisa’s Cafe for breakfast nearby. They were nice and food was a good price and really yummy.
Checking in was easy. It feels family run and the lady was really warm and welcoming.
Would stay here an again!...
