The listing for this cabin was misleading, and it significantly impacted our stay. The host, Jessica, advertised the cabin as having a queen-size bed. In reality, it was a standard double (full) bed — something I confirmed with measurements and photographic proof. My wife and I have slept on a queen for years, and given the smaller size, neither of us could sleep. This completely defeated the purpose of what was meant to be a relaxing husband-and-wife getaway, and we ended up checking out early.
When I addressed this misrepresentation, Jessica denied the discrepancy despite being presented with clear photographic evidence. This was disappointing, as trust between host and guest is important.
Beyond the bed issue, another factor to consider is location noise. The cabin is situated close to a road with frequent large trucks passing by, which disrupts the sense of peace you might expect from a cabin stay.
If you are perfectly fine sleeping on a double bed instead of a queen and don’t mind noticeable road noise, the cabin itself should suit your needs. However, if accurate listings, honesty from your host, and true tranquility are important to you, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.
Edit: posting this after the host's response: The host is simply lying about the bed. One can place California King sheets on a double bed; it's still a double bed. The main point here is that the mattress/bed is a double/full bed. I use the phone measuring tool almost daily in my engineering work. The bed is the problem, not the measuring tool. Interestingly, however that I stated nothing in my review about the tub. Makes one wonder if she's misleading on that part as well. I will say she's correct, the place is otherwise very nice. Just note that if you choose to stay here, you're contracting with a host that deals in deceptive tactics, and you will experience much road noise...
Read moreThe cabins at Great Valley are an experience second to none! The warm and cozy feeling you get from the floor space heaters to the decorative ambiance compliments the feel you get when you’re in downtown Wellsboro. Just a short drive to the downtown area and back, Great Valley Cabins can be a welcome sight at the end of a long and arduous day. Whether you just enjoyed yourself downtown (and were returning from a long day); or hiking, visiting the Pa Grand Canyon, on the opposite side of that front door has you feeling the warm/coziness of the Great Valley Cabins as soon as you return. Both the couch and bed are welcome sights at the end of a long day. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils, glasses and plates. A spacious refrigerator and double sink are just some of the pluses. The shower is way above average and there’s plenty of towels and space in the bathroom. Checkout is spelled out in a Directory Manual on the kitchen table, and it’s very simplistic what you have to do to get your $100 deposit returned. You cannot stay at GVC and not be waiting or excited to look forward to your...
Read moreThis location and house has been a great experience from the booking to the arrival to the departure. This home is equipped with everything you could possibly need and the host even supplied dish soap, sponge, trash bags, and hand soap and shampoo and conditioner. This is such a nice gesture as the essential needs are there if you have forgotten. The Pine creek is right in the back of the property short walk, the grounds are well kept, it’s located in a very secluded quiet street. The house was large enough for Thanksgiving with extended family. Jessica was also quick to respond when we had an issue with pluming, she showed up mins later and the issue was fixed immediately. I look forward to our future bookings at...
