Real time update 9/21/2025. We are back at the Residence Inn, Short Pump at the Notch because we leave tomorrow. My 1 bedroom wasn't available yet so I asked for a studio because I'm tired and still have a boot on my foot. Tiffany, the sparkly lady, with the sparkly hair, noticed the boot and put me in an accessible room š. Now that's customer service! Great ending to our trip! I noticed that she has a relationship with the guest that were going in and out the door! She treats them like family š. Thats the type of customer service that brings customers back. My hats off to you Tiffany!
When we arrived at the hotel on Thursday, Sep18, 2025, I was in a lot of pain and I was limping with a boot on my foot. Like most travelers, I was exhausted because we just flew in. To top that, even though we reserved a vehicle, none were available when we arrived. We were at the airport 2 hours waiting. Also it was our 39th wedding anniversary. When we arrived early at the hotel, the front desk clerk was not friendly at all. I asked if our room was available early and was told that it wasn't. That's ok, but she still could have been friendly. I felt like I had to beg the front desk clerk to be a kind person! Why work in customer service if you don't have the heart to be kind to people? When we finally checked in, I asked if we could extend if we needed to because we were also there for business. She said that we would have to pack up our bags and check out of our current room and move into a studio one š„ŗ. This woman effectively put the icing on the cake when it came to making our anniversary the worst ever. Later that day, I went downstairs to get a snack and saw that there was another lady at the counter. This lady was friendly. I asked that lady about staying another night. She checked the computer and said, "Of course you can stay another night". I said, "In the same room"? She said "Yes, why would we check you out of your current room, that would be an inconvenience to you". My 1st thought was that obviously, this woman was just a decent human being because I know that these people get the same training. Human decency goes a long way! It was that simple. I don't know the name of the kind black lady that I met the night of September 18th but she blessed my weary soul by being kind. Even if there was no availability in the hotel, just the fact that this lady was kind to me was a blessing. When you work in hospitality, you don't know what people are going through or why they are traveling, so being kind to these traveling strangers is important. After being treated like I was less than by the 1st woman when I checked in, it was truly heartwarming to be treated like I...

Still Needs Improvement This property has great potential to be the premier location in the area but they a major upgrade with staffing and management. Cleanliness Hallway rugs need to be cleaned badly N/A on breakfast due to experience we skipped it Super Pet friendly hotel like the aloft: you will hear cats and dogs all day and night
Recommendations: Increase trained staff and better management Owners should visit more regularly randomly inspecting hotel rooms and floors
Benefits of this location: Newly built/remodeled Up to date look Nicely laid out room with updated fridge and kitchen Huge desk to work on in your room Pull out bed in the living room area (must ask front desk for linen for the bed itās not in the closets anymore.) Fire pit Up to date workout room Basketball court Cookout grill Snack station by the front desk Complimentary breakfast and wifi WaWa gas station across the street A few restaurants at least 3-5 minutes away.
My experience broken down with photos: As I entered the building for my overnight stay I was excited to see the up to date furnishings, basketball court, new updated layout, but when I entered my room just now it was absolutely filthy. Food in the sink, Dirty towels, dirty sheets and comforter, dirty toilet. Iām really surprised and saddened to see this. I made the front desk aware (Alec) he said that the hotel is sold out and they canāt move me and thereās nothing he can do. (Photos attached)
Update: Alec called me on my cell phone because the room phone doesnāt work and said that the manager would refund the one room price (but both are dirty). I get it but Iām really annoyed that I have to clean these showers and toilets and room by hand myself after a long day of traveling for a one night stay amidst a prolonged COVID era . Sigh š a true hassle. But thank you Alec for bringing new sheets and towels that I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI do not write many reviews but sometimes they are necessary! I am a physician who recently traveled from Massachusetts to Richmond. My daughter earned a spot at the coveted University of Richmond, and we were there to assist her with the arduous move in process. Our trip south to Richmond, was nothing less than stressful. My very first interaction with the Residence Inn at Short Pump far exceeded my expectations, based on a telephone call I made to the hotel while driving the night before our anticipated check in. I called the front desk of the hotel and was fortunate to have talked to Tiffany, who was up-beat and truly helpful ... simply amazing on the telephone. She even invited us to check in to the hotel earlier than we planned - she was extremely helpful, kind and courteous on the telephone. We arrived close to midnight and Tiffany was still there, greeting us at the front desk with a big smile and welcoming, even though it was late and she was leaving to go home for the night. She never seemed to rush us and seemed sincerely interested in us and our trip to Richmond. Throughout the week long stay, Tiffany ALWAYS was extremely courteous and kind, always making it a point to greet my family with a smile. Multiple times during the week, she took extra time simply talking to my daughter and alleviating her concerns about starting college. Tiffany was reassuring and a breath of fresh air. I must also point out the fact that her co-worker Shakira, was equally as kind and welcoming and attentive on a consistent basis that week. The morning breakfasts were far better than most other hotels who offer complimentary breakfasts! The hotel was clean and secure giving us all a feeling of calm during our stressful trip. I will definitely stay at this hotel again when visiting Richmond!...
