We just spent a delightful 3 nights in the Cowboy Cabin. We have lived in the Tucson area for over 20 years and have spent lots of time in the Huachuca Mountain area, renting various vrbo's, plus Ramsey Canyon B&B/Inn, Casa de San Pedro, Santa Rita Lodge in Madera, and Beatty's Guest Cabins. We are avid birders, and enjoy this area year round because it is a short, 2 hour drive from our home. |Finally, we have found the perfect Birders' Paradise at the Ramsey Canyon Cabins. In our 4 days at our cabin, we did not see (or hear) a single car; nor did we see another person, besides the owner, Greg, who stopped by on our last day to introduce himself. |The property consists of 8 acres of sycamores, junipers, and oaks plus Creekside habitat. There are 4 (marked by colored stones) trails to wander with seating (complete with padded chairs!) and bird feeders all along the trails. The Birding Garden is a short walk away and has over 20 feeders and 123 birds reported on eBird. The owners really care about their property and it shows in every aspect. Feeders are never empty.|The Cowboy Cabin has suet, sunflower, and 3 hummingbird feeders plus a water tub. We spent hours there, sipping coffee in the morning, wine at night... on the elevated rock patio in comfortable padded chairs, spotting birds and watching the resident Coues deer and Gould's turkeys browsing around. There are tables and a large propane BBQ as well. The air conditioned cabin itself is small (480 sq ft) with a queen bed and comfortable mattress, a complete kitchen with new appliances (full electric stove and oven, full refrigerator with freezer and ice trays, a new dishwasher, and complete with cooking and dining supplies). We spent so much of our time outside we didn't notice that there was a TV, but on our last night we accessed a movie on Neflix. It seems there are lots of channels and streaming available. Wifi is strong. Restaurants with takeout are nearby in Sierra Vista (Urban Bar and Bistro is 8 minutes, Angry German 20 minutes drive)|The cabin is at 5500 feet, an easy 1/4 mile walk to the Nature Conservancy's Ramsey Canyon Preserve, and a few miles' drive to Ash Canyon Bird Sanctuary (both "do-not-miss" locations for birders). Further away is the Whitewater Draw Wildlife Refuge for the amazing Sandhill Crane colonies in the winter months.|If you want a gourmet breakfast served along with other guests, then this location is not for you. There is no smoking allowed on all the property, and no children under 15. |If you need a quiet, meditative vacation, this can't be beat. Consider yourself lucky if you...

Read moreOK, now I need to leave a 1 star review. Is it audacious to look at the chain gates with signs on them and cluttered postings on the sign while on the phone with the hospital because an 86 year old woman has subarachnoid bleeding and misunderstand how things work? Or is it audacious to accuse people of theft because they didn't see the box for payment and stood away from the bird area while on the phone with the hospital while being glared at by a "Karen"? I'll let the review readers decide. You told me to put the money in the bin so that is where it put it - $16 vs the $10 required. Working nearby while standing holding a small dog and trying to interrupt the hospital phone call? Maybe there is a reason that other places have volunteers? Nobody wants to be around someone with such a terrible attitude? I'm sure there will be another hostile response and that will tell future guests all they need to know. Staying to enjoy the birds after you eventually walked away has nothing to do with the review. It is your terrible attitude and assumption of negative intent with accusations of lying and theft that leads us to this review. Birders - there is a Nature Conservancy site that is minutes farther (i.e. you could walk) where the friendly volunteers make it easy to pay and don't treat you like a criminal if you don't immediately see exactly where to pay or if you happen to be on the phone for a family emergency. Looking forward to the hostile response! Instead of apologizing for your misunderstanding, you chose to continue your paranoid narrative. Next stop - an eBird review to warn others that they may be attacked and...
