The absolute WORST customer service I’ve ever experienced in my life. I’m not being dramatic when I say that. I was so excited to stay at The Wells Inn, but unfortunately it was quickly ruined for me. I pulled up outside (across the street) and FaceTimed my fiancé to show her the historic building, and was immediately screamed at by one of the owners that was sitting out front. I’ll say it again, I was SCREAMED at for absolutely no reason at all. I explained what I was doing to the man and he then changed his attitude quickly after I told him that I was planning on staying the next 5 nights while I was in town for business. However the longer I thought about it the more it bothered me how off the rails he was towards me, so I called to cancel four of my nights stay. I still planned on staying atleast one night, because like I said I was excited to stay there. It’s an actual piece of WV history. When I called to cancel my reservation for the other four days, a lady answered the call with immediate unprovoked attitude. I didn’t understand why so I said oh my gosh you’re being so rude. Why? Immediately she takes offense and flies off the rails herself. I was perfectly nice and polite to this point. She then curses me and hangs up. I immediately called back to cancel ALL of my nights stay, and she answered once again with threats to my well being. I DO NOT recommend this place for anyone. I wouldn’t send my worst enemy to this establishment. Some of the most disgraceful and rude people I’ve ever had the misfortune to deal with. I will NEVER recommend or be staying at this hotel under its current management. Absolutely...
Read moreWhile not from Sistersville, I spent much of my early years here. The Wells Inn is on the National Registry of Historic Places, located in the heart of Sistersville. It's a Sistersville - and mid-Ohio Valley institution - and is the centerpiece of Sistersville's old-school history. Complete with restaurant, hotel, and various amenities, the Wells Inn is a true step back in time. They have an elevator which, when not occupied, has a mind of it's own - opening/closing and traveling between floors at times, even if no one is in it. Rumors have it that the spirit of the Wells sisters (family of the town's founder) lurks there, and they routinely take trips between floors. Don't worry - you won't see anything......but if you're into ghosts, this might be a neat place to explore/discuss. I can't speak to the food so much as it's been years since I've eaten there, but when I ate there regularly years ago, it was decently priced and decently prepared. The times of the year to avoid the hotel: the week leading up to and after Memorial Day weekend (the town's old and dearly beloved - and closed - high school has an alumni weekend then and the place is sold out) as well as the first week or so of August (Tyler County fair) and mid-September (the WV Oil and...
Read moreThis place is AMAZING. My boyfriend and I went for a Valentine's weekend through the area and stayed a night here. Charles, his wife, and his sister were absolutely fantastic. They set up a beautiful place for us to eat our breakfast in the tea room, gave us a tour of not only the hotel, but the town as well. Our breakfast was phenomenal, and huge, with good coffee and fabulous Bigelow and Wedgewood tea (of which they are a seller of you end up really liking it). I couldn't finish my food, and neither could my normally bottomless boyfriend! We were regaled with wonderful stories. I have never felt so welcome, or so reluctant to leave a hotel. Next time we go anywhere in that vicinity, I'm staying there for sure. The room was beautiful and clean. There was some renovating going on, and they publish their own newspaper, but we were advised of that several times and it really wasn't that bad to me. If you want a place that feels like home and friends, go there and you won't get disappointed. The next night of our weekend, I stayed at a 4 star hotel and wished I was...
