We stayed here while our apartment was temporarily uninhabitable due to a pest infestation — so it’s safe to say our standards weren’t sky-high to begin with. Unfortunately, even with those lowered expectations, this hotel still managed to disappoint.
The only real positive was the view of the river, which was genuinely beautiful and calming — the kind of peaceful scene that should have made for a relaxing stay. Sadly, everything else fell far short.
We booked a non-smoking room, but from the moment we walked in, we were hit with the lingering smell of smoke. One of the comforters had cigarette burn holes, and to make matters worse, there was a used towel tucked up on a shelf — clearly missed during cleaning. The whole room felt musty and poorly maintained. Ashtrays were placed on every balcony, which made the non-smoking designation feel more like a technicality than an enforced policy.
We had hoped to enjoy the balcony with the river view, but that too was rendered nearly unusable. The smell of cigarette smoke from neighboring balconies drifted in constantly, making it unpleasant to sit outside for more than a moment.
We tried to tolerate it, but after a few hours, I developed a migraine from the smoke. We attempted to call the front desk to request a room change, but no one answered after several minutes. Eventually, my boyfriend went down to the lobby, where several other guests were also waiting to be helped, and no one was present at the desk. Thankfully, once a staff member arrived, they were able to move us to the last available room. We appreciated that accommodation.
The new room had better air quality and was a relief after the first, though it still didn’t feel especially clean or welcoming.
The pool, which was advertised as a highlight, was another disappointment. At just 4 feet deep and filled with murky water and floating clumps of what appeared to be hair extensions, it was hard to relax. We did go in briefly, but felt the need to shower immediately after. While we were there, we watched another couple walk in, take one look at the state of the pool, and turn around without setting foot in it — which says it all.
For more than $200 a night, this stay was a serious disappointment. The river view was lovely, but nearly every other aspect — cleanliness, air quality, maintenance, and the pool — fell well below what we expected. We won’t...
Read moreI came to Riverview Inn because I needed to complete a business meeting and also to visit family nearby in Providence/ Warwick. Riverview is indeed next to LEE RIVER and you can indeed see the river from some rooms. I had a room with a balcony overlooking the parking lot.
Riverview has a great enclosed pool room, but there is no lifeguard on duty. Children must be accompanied by parents and as far as I know the pool room doesn't close - or at least - there is no posted closing time or opening time for the pool. There are two things I noticed: #1 There are signs around the pool that say 4 feet, but older signs that say 9 feet. The older signs need to be erased or covered God-forbid someone try to dive in and break there neck. #2 There were kids who entered the room without parents and got in the pool. There was no one to stop them.
The grounds are well kept. There is a large parking lot. The check in process was quick, easy and took less than 10 minutes.
My room smelled like cigarette smoke when I walked in. I imagine someone was either smoking on the balcony - there was an ash tray. They couldn't smoke in the room due to a smoke detector in the center of the room.
The room had a functional air condtioner which worked very well.
The room included a bathroom, very nicely designed and plenty of basic toiletries to use: soap, shampoo, conditioner, towels, etc.
The bed itself was DEFINITELY a cheap, Queen-sized spring bed - which was quite firm. I can feel the springs through the blanket itself. Hopefully someday they can upgrade to a firm memory foam which would be far, far better.
The room included a TV with cable TV access, WIFI, microwave, safe and small fridge. There was also a decent amount of hangar space to hang clothes.
The only downside was that there were only 110v outlets and no usb ports, but that is forgivable. I've had some hotel rooms with lamps that had USB ports - specifically to charge a smartphone or smartwatch, but there were enough outlets to charge your equipment if you bring your own power adapters.
Overall, this is a decent place to stay. I picked it solely for the low-cost when compared to some of the other...
Read moreRoom 143. Disgusting. The room hasn't been deep cleaned in a very, very, VERY long time. It did not "smell" as though it had been cleaned upon arrival. We booked a room with a jetted tub and river view. I didn't even want to shower in this tub, let alone soak in it. The bottom was black. The tubs outter frame looked like it was molding and coming apart. Water damage over the sink. Caked on dirt and dust on the water sprinklers and the ac unit. Slider door very hard to push open, kept stopping up. There was hair on the toilet and in the sheets. You could hear the neighbors shower running. No warm water in sink. The front door wasn't flush with the doorframe, so there is a giant gap, causing you too see people's shadows as they walked by, increased noise level. Room 143 is close by the main entrance to the building, so anytime the main door was opened or closed, it caused our door to shake. I've attached numerous photos of the rooms condition. We walked around in our sandals, I didn't dare go barefoot. There was also a big dark red or brown sticky splatter on the wall. The back patio had a single, dirty, old, weathered, clothed chair. The units below us had likes of broken tile and fast food wrappers in the grass. The view straight across was pretty. Roadway on either side. We did not use the pool, it was very crowded and looked cloudy. Signs posted out front state HBO, that was included. TV a bit fuzzy. The remote was caked in crud. Mini coffee maker without any coffee bags or pods. We were only away for one night, not worth the $181 price tag plus $100 security deposit. We were told it was sold out, we wanted to enjoy our one single evening away from home as much as possible and had plans to go out so we tried to make the best of it. Photos of the rooms did not align with reality. Front desk gentlemen at check in was overwhelmed, he could have used a hand at 3pm. He was very friendly though. Long wait and line to check in. I would...
