My wife and I stayed here in 2022. It has a contemporary design that makes it feel new and fresh, but there were a few indicators that it wasn't quite as new as it appears. 📸 Unfortunately I forgot to take photos of the interior, but I'll describe some of the highlights below.
STAFF 🤵 When we arrived, my wife realized she had booked it for the wrong night. We were a day early, but to our delight, they had a room available and we're extremely professional and kind. From the staff that I saw, there was a general feeling of delight and care.
THE ROOM 🏢 We've stayed at many hotels over the years, including other Hampton Inns, but this one was better overall. The bed was actually soft, even if it was elevated higher than normal beds (which was more challenging for my wife to crawl into, but I enjoyed being higher off the ground). The other highlight was the tile shower. The water pressure was perfect and the space was relaxing. (I enjoy bathtubs, but prefer showers). It had a simple, single shelf and a solitary handle to turn the water from cold to hot. Other amenities in the room included a small refrigerator, microwave, Keurig, iron + ironing board, desk, couch (with pull-out bed), a desk lamp & chair, Wi-Fi, bedside lamps and charging stations (on both sides, 3-prong + USB 3.0 A) and a TV (on which we enjoyed a couple episodes of Shark Tank). The pillows were a bit of a let-down, but we're much pickier about having less squishy pillows.
COMPLIMENTARY BREAKFAST 🍽️ This was the only mediocre option of the experience. They had a selection of cold cereal, oatmeal, waffles, pastries, and hot egg & cheese omelettes, bacon, potatoes, fresh oranges or apples, myriad toppings for your waffles and pastries, and your choice of apple juice, orange juice, or a kiwi something water, but no cups. No one jumped on the omelettes or potatoes -- breakfast started at 6a, and I visited at 7:20a and again at 8:10a. I grabbed 2 omelettes and enjoyed them but left the potatoes alone.
Overall I enjoyed my time there and will likely return again, hoping for a better breakfast...
Read moreWe stayed at the Hampton Inn Princeton for 9 nights at the end of July while our child attended a summer camp. The first couple of days were a bit frustrating. When we checked in around 9 PM, the line was a bit long. We noticed other guests ahead of us were each given a bottle of water, but our family of four only received one bottle. We had to ask to get one for each person.
Our room faced a busy street, and the traffic noise made it hard to sleep. Unfortunately, there were no quieter rooms available to switch to. The toilet seat in our bathroom was loose and wobbly, which almost caused a fall, but thankfully it was fixed the next day. We also didn’t have a hair dryer in the room. I called the front desk and was told one would be brought up soon, but after 30 minutes, nothing came. I called again, but no one answered. When I went down to the lobby, I saw the front desk staff watching videos on his phone. I asked again about the hair dryer, and he said he would look for one. I waited another 10 minutes while he chatted with other guests and with security. It wasn’t until he saw I was still waiting that he finally brought it out.
To be honest, after these experiences, I wasn’t very happy staying here. But things changed when Tima started working at the front desk. He was friendly, helpful, and full of positive energy. One evening, when I needed to use the dryer, I found that someone else’s clothes had been left inside. I couldn’t use the machine, and no one was around to claim them. Tima quickly brought me 2 clean laundry bags and I removed the clothes so I could start my drying cycle right away. Earlier, when the washer didn’t work after I put in coins, he came immediately and fixed the issue. Tima truly made a difference in our stay and turned the experience around. A great front desk staff member can have a big impact on a hotel, and Tima...
Read moreWe were looking for something budget and closer to Trenton/Philly and our family of 4 w/2 kids stayed here in a 1 King + sofa bed room for 3 nights. The hotel is right by Route1 and has plenty of parking spaces for free. The room size was very small that when you pull out the sofa-bed there was hardly any place to even walk, we requested for 2 queens but it was unavailable. They do serve hot breakfast and the dining area could have been bit bigger to seat more people, as it was crowded and I noticed few guests patiently waiting to find a spot to eat. The king bed & sofa bed was very comfortable, while the pillows weren't. The bathroom was very odd & disgusting, as the shower head was over 8ft above I am not kidding!! (my kids were teasing that it is a waterfall). Also the soap caddies were over 5ft and my 7yr old needed help. There was inconsistent hot water in shower, I also noticed our next door guest complaining (actually yelling) for no hot water in shower. The bathroom also didn't have any exhaust vent. If this was not enough then our toilet was a mess, the flushing tank used to get water condensed and drip overnight ,we used to see some water drops on the floor. Initially we thought its the shower leaking and tried to notify the housekeeping staff but they didn't understand english, so later we just put a towel and be done with it. Also they do housekeeping only once in 2 days so had room cleaned only once in our stay. The room did have a separate bathroom sink/mirror outside (which is good) and it did come with microwave and refrigerator. |It seemed like the room was freshly renovated and I see this place could've got 4stars if not for those...
