My husband and I got married at Lake Bluff Inn and Suites this summer and it was the most amazing weekend of our lives! We are so thankful for how flexible and accommodating John and Michelle were in a variety of different asks / planning activities leading up to the wedding. The venue’s general manager, Erik, is an absolute saint and went over and beyond; he was helpful, friendly and accommodating in every way possible. We wanted to give him a special thank you for his amazing support and help he provided over the entire wedding process. Make him a full time wedding coordinator!!
LB beats ALL other venues two categories: the amount of quality time you will get with all your guests and the unbeatable views and overall experience of a weekend you and your guests will have. If your event reserves all of LB’s rooms you will have the entire property to yourselves for a full weekend of celebrating with friends and family - our guests were raving that if felt like they were at an adult getaway camp/college. Many other venues rush you in and rush you out, and all your guests go back to their respective hotels. At LB we celebrated late into the night around a lakeside bonfire, and all our guests simply walked back to their rooms after a long night of partying. No worrying about transportation or driving late at night, and you wake up in the morning all together.
One point worth highlighting for couples interested in having their wedding here (which LB is very fair and up front about) is that the couple is responsible for filling all rooms for the entire weekend (2 nights x 52 rooms). If you don’t fill them, you can opt to either be charged for the balance or release the remaining rooms to the public (which then you have to worry about noise complaints and having strangers on the property with you). It was very challenging for us to fill all the rooms even when inviting over 300 people so I would recommend offering incentives and being transparent that you personally will be responsible for the rooms if there are cancellations or unfilled rooms.
The only drawbacks worth mentioning both relate to LB being a newer venue. The communication timeliness and hospitality experienced with the wedding coordinator was not on par with what you would receive at a seasoned venue and was both frustrating and off putting at times. Secondly, given the venue is new to hosting weddings, the responsibility of finding and contracting with vendors is all on your plate and not to be underestimated. In addition, some staple offerings (lighting, glassware, etc.) are not provided. However, LB does provide some good recommendations.
Our experience overall was incredible and we would have our wedding here again 100x despite the slight drawbacks listed above, because you just can’t beat that view, the beach, and having all your friends and family in one place for the whole weekend. LB did a LOT of amazing upgrades leading up to our wedding and we’re sure the venue is only going to get...
Read moreAmazing inn. So quiet. Such an amazing view of the lake. Our room was just about 30 feet from the shore. The room was spacious,. Ours was a 2 bed room. Each bed had its own individual room, separated by the bathroom and kitchen area. So it is the perfect set up for parents traveling with children and wanting to have their own space away from the kids. The first room had the most comfy hotel bed I've ever slept on as well as a nice gas fireplace to set the mood..
The kitchen area was well set up with a coffeemaker, microwave, and toaster oven. As well as a full sized fridge freezer combo. No college room mini fridge here. Also had a decent selection of dishes as well.
The bathroom was nice and roomy. There were some nice pleasant extras, like a Jacuzzi tub and an amazing heat lamp to make the room nice and cozy when you got out of your shower or bath. A nice selection of soaps and conditioners were provided as well. The room was well insulated for sound. We never heard a sound from our neighbors the entire time we were there. I've never had that at any hotel, even when I've stayed at an Adams mark hotel
According to a sign in the room Peyton was the person responsible for cleaning our room. I don't know who you are Peyton, but you should be proud! Our room was spotless and your hospital corners on the bedding were razor sharp. And that's coming from someone that's ex- military. Stunning job my dear. I don't know what you're being paid. But it's not enough.
Let's talk about ground amenities. In addition to the amazing room and it's amenities. The grounds also feature a full workout building, on site sauna, and entertainment room. Very nice folks! And let's not forget the elephant in the room. That view! It is so stunning! The property butts right up to the lake with great views from most of the rooms. Not only that. But while we were there they were setting up a tent for what looked like a wedding. What a backdrop for the ceremony and pictures afterwards! Would be an amazing venue to book for such a thing!
The rooms cost a bit more than your average hotel rooms. But trust me this place is worth every dime! The amazing woman at the front desk is so amazingly nice and bubbly. My dear I apologize, I have forgotten your name. But you were amazing at taking care of us!
I can't wait to stay here again when we get out that way. Once you stay here you will feel...
Read moreUpon checking in, I realized that I didn't get the room I thought I booked. I booked a king room with a jacuzzi and a fireplace and received a king with two bedrooms. I went to the front desk to explain the situation and the front dresk associated said I could either release the room for a $25 fee and if they were able to rebook it I wouldn't get charged ($269/night); I could see if someone with a queen size room and fireplace wanted to trade; or, I could get $100 off the room. I asked for a full refund with a $25 fee and the associate said that wasn't an option. I asked to speak to the manager and was told the manager was on the phone with her husband who was sick. I said I would wait and waited 20 minutes to speak to the manager who never showed. The front desk associate reiterated my options and asked if I would like the manager to give me a call. I provided my phone number and said if it was possible to switch to the queen sized room, I would. Of course, the manager never called but I did get a call from the front desk associate saying we had been switched. (still at the same price of $269/night). The room was outdated and didn't have any instruction/information for pool hours, where to get ice, how to operate the fire place, etc. Additionally, there wasn't a phone in the room to call anyone for assistance. The next day, I was switched to a standard king size room. The first thing I noticed was used toilet paper on the bathroom floor. There was no soap in the dispenser and the mini fridge was not working. At 1:00a.m. we heard a rattle at the door and the person kept trying to get in. I answered the door and a couple apologized. They had been given the same room key! Had the bolt not been locked they would've come right in. In the morning, I made the front desk associate aware of the situation. There was no apology, instead she blamed me saying we got the wrong room! And, stated that everything was okay. I think she missed the point that the wrong was double booked. Aside from all the problems we experienced, I still wouldn't consider this a luxury resory- Most rooms do not have a great view, the rooms are outdated, the complimentary morning buffet is all muffins and doughnuts, and the customer service is horrible. I tried calling today to speak with a manager about the experience and was given the run around. For the price, there are a lot nicer...
