I’ve stayed twice in the past couple weeks. My most recent stay was in a room on the ground floor. The room was great and in much better shape than my previous one. The first time I visited this hotel I had a room with a separate living area. It was very spacious however it was set up oddly. Once entering the room you are in the sleeping area and have to walk through there to get to the living room styled area. I felt it should be the other way around so not to disturb anyone else in the room. However, the layout was not my main issue. The room was so poorly constructed compared to my first floor room. USB outlets did not work, most of the light switches were upside down. It felt as if the carpet had been installed over top of pebbles or debris. The carpeted baseboard was carelessly stapled with tons of staples which really hurt the appearance. The fixtures in the bathroom were loose or installed incorrectly. I tried to hang my towel on the hook in the bathroom and the hook literally fell off of the wall.
My first floor room was great in comparison. Yes it’s definitely odd having the sinks outside of the bathroom. It makes things a bit awkward if the guests in the room are leaving or getting up at different times. It’s hard not to wake anyone up when the sink is 10 feet from the beds. My room had a chase lounge next to the far bed which would be nice in a larger room. But with the size of this one, it just consumed too much space.
Staff- most everyone was pleasant. The main issue I had was with the older gentleman who checked me in on my most recent visit. After trying to run my card multiple times he kept telling me it was declined. When I let him know that there had to be some other mistake he insisted that it would not work. Finally he pointed at his computer and told me to come look. So I came around the counter to do his job for him. Within seconds it was obvious that he had entered the expiration date from my card wrong which immediately fixed the problem. Not only was it slightly embarrassing to have him insist that my card was being declined. I felt it was rude to have me come around to do his job for him. Maybe if he was paying more attention to his work rather than his cell phone, he would’ve realized his mistake. I am an easy going type of person so I tried to not let it bother me too much but when I didn’t even get a thank you for fixing the problem or an apology for the issue in the first place, I was slightly disappointed. I stay in hotels 5 of 7 days each week and Holiday Inn Express is my normal “go-to”. I have seen the best of them and the worst. This one has great potential once finished and construction...
Read moreThe front desk staff upon arrival and departure were pleasant and polite. I stayed in a room on the second floor. When I immediately entered the room, I was a bit disappointed to see the sink to the left (which was modern and large and had a good amount of countertop space) and to the right, a door to the toilet and shower which was a small space. The toilet and tub were outdated. The toilet is so low to the ground you'll feel like your being potty trained. If your 6ft tall, you'll have to bend down or you'll hit your head on an unnecessary ceiling lamp fixture when you walk into the room from the hallway. The height of the actual room is fairly high. The water from the tub would not drain while using and the lighting is very dim while using the shower/tub. The shower pressure was low. The clean face/hand towels had long hair on the day we arrived and on the second day we asked for new towels, it had hair as well. There was a good amount of long hair under the sink and it didn't look like the floors were cleaned or vacuumed very well. The bed itself was comfortable but the overall room is small and there were stains and debris on the carpet and lamp shade. The large chaise lounge which took up too much space where luggage or a stroller for example can be accommodated was oversized for that particular space. I got the feeling this location renovated some spaces but cut several corners. The room felt old and unclean. I didn't eat the breakfast but my spouse did and said it was , 'eh, decent'. Lastly, I have a particular status with IHG. I booked the room several months ahead of my three night stay and was surprised that my room was on the second floor (total of 4 floors) facing the parking lot. Upon check-in I inquired if there were any room upgrades but there were not and there are only 3 suites in total and all was booked. I would recommend to stay for a night but no longer than that. To management and anyone else involved, please update your rooms and make sure the rooms are clean and the water runs...
Read moreI wouldn’t stay here again. My family booked 3 rooms one room was dirty and had someone’s ripped underwear on the back of the bathroom door. One room didn’t have even close to an average amount of towels or wash clothes and then there was my room; there was nothing wrong with it ya know except for the fact they let a stranger check in to my room! I arrived later than the rest of my family so my father tried and failed to check me in (understandable as his name was not on my room) However when I did arrive I was told I didn’t have a reservation. The woman at the front had a bad attitude as if I would show up to a hotel my entire family was staying at with suitcases that we towed from the back of the hotel since parking was awful just to lie about having a reservation. I pulled up the reservation number and she tells me I’m already checked in. I advise her that’s impossible as the woman earlier in the day wouldn’t let my dad check me in. So she gives me a set of keys and they don’t work 2 times. She then asks me if I knocked on the door, why would I knock on my own room door? So she calls and low and behold some woman is in my room. Not only did this woman check into my room but she also signed hotel documents to get room keys and all of them had my name on them! No once did they ask her for ID. Well it turns out that she happened to have the same last name as my family (extremely odd considering our last name isn’t common) but I was extremely disappointed by the entire ordeal because no matter what I was treated like it was something I had done wrong. All of that on top of the fact that I’m a platinum elite member and they make such a stink about how the members are so important but everyone that works there seems miserable and they all give you an attitude. The only nice employee I encountered was the check out guy in the morning he seemed...
