Golden Valley Getaways — Hotel in Spindale

We recently stayed at Sunrise Cabin for July 4th weekend, which came recommended by a friend. While the cabin itself was very clean, the experience—especially the way we were treated by the property management (Sherry)—was extremely disappointing.

The upstairs mattress was so uncomfortable it felt like sleeping on a brick. We moved a mattress from downstairs just to get some rest, causing no damage—something the manager initially admitted, calling it merely an “inconvenience.” We simply forgot to move it back at checkout, an honest mistake.

We were later charged $135 without warning, supposedly for the “inconvenience” of moving the mattresses back. When I questioned why we would be charged since the deposit was for actual damages—and nothing was damaged—the story suddenly changed. I was then accused of dragging and damaging the mattress (despite her admitting earlier that she hadn’t even seen it). It was clear this accusation was made to justify the charge after the fact.

On top of that, I was called unintelligent, accused of lying, told where my children should have slept, and even mocked with an Alzheimer’s comment. This was harassment, not hospitality.

We enjoyed our 4 day stay at Rocky Bottom Cabin. Everything you could possibly need or want was provided, so many little touches that truly made you feel right at home! The cabin is adorably decorated and the furnishings incredibly comfortable. Bob & Gail provided great information on things to do in the area and wonderful conversation. We took advantage of many recommendations; the Mountain View restaurant was delicious and the drive to Little Switzerland showcased the beautiful autumn colors. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can’t wait to go back! Golden Valley Getaways is a true gem of a find and you won’t be disappointed!

Just back from a 9 day stay and our second visit to the Silver Stream. As always, we felt like we were visiting with family. The Silver Stream is loaded with any amenity you could desire and is very, very comfortable. The washer and dryer in the dog house is an added bonus as we were able to pack lightly. The rains were a bit unforgiving at times this week but having the great structure over the camper and patio areas allowed us to still comfortably enjoy the best nature views/sounds in town. I'd love to say how terrible this place is so we can keep it all to ourselves but that would be the biggest lie ever! We are already counting down the days until...

We stayed at Daisy's Creekside cabin this past week. It was very nice and so quiet. All we heard all week was the creek running and some wild turkeys.. We needed to get away for a few days and this was just perfect. Gail met us at the cabin when we arrived. She showed us in and we could smell the bread before we even went up the stairs.The bread was fantastic and it was so nice to have the butter and the jam to go with it. The cabin is only one room but the set up is fantastic. It has everything you need to cook a good meal. There is also a grill on the balcony and it is easy to use. We planned all our meals so we didn't have to go anywhere. We wanted to just enjoy the peace and quiet and we were not disappointed. There was cut wood for the fire pit which was great, because we brought the makings for s'mores. We had a fire each night and did some stargazing. There is no cell service and no internet, which was just fine. There is direct tv so you are not completely cut off. We are already planning our next trim up there. Thank you Gail and Bob for your...
