White Valley Motel — Hotel in St. Charles

Lee & Linda Rouse, no longer run this and my family and I recently stayed at this motel; we had a total of four rooms and were told that there were no rooms available with two beds so we all had only one bed in each room. One family had two children, another family had four children, all of whom were under 10 years old; another room had only two adults and then the fourth room, the only one with two beds, had four adults.

This motel advertises that Children 10 and under stay free – this is not true, they only allowed one child stay free, the parents were charged for all the other children. This motel advertises that it charges $4.00 per extra person – this is not true, they charged $10.00 per child (again all under the age of 10)!

Every room charge was different, no one paid the same, which was supposed to be $60 per night for the rooms with one bed.

All the children had to sleep on the floor and we had to bring everything for them to sleep on, the motel would supply noting. At one point, one of the little ones dumped a bottle of water on the bed; the motel would only give us one flat sheet, noting more!

Each room had only two towels, my mother and I went to ask for additional towels for the rooms and were questioned as to why and treated poorly.

The rooms were dirty, partially used items in the rooms; coffee opened; bugs in the rooms; blinds falling off if you even touched one to open or close the blinds; refrigerators do not all work, only some; the list just continued. At the time of check out, I went to, again, speak with the manager and he would not even come out of the living area to the office to speak with anyone. We will never stay...

My husband and I were camping at Whitewater State Park, which had no cell service.||While in town shopping, I got a call that both my parents tested positive for Covid and were not doing very well. We decided to look for a place to stay, so we would have phone service and drive home in the morning.||I saw the White Valley Motel across the street. I called to see if they had a room available. They did, so we went there and paid $116. for the room.||The employee on duty walked us to the room and opened the door for us because he stated the door is tricky to open. We walked in the room and got a call that my dad was being hospitalized. We decided to just leave and drive home. So, in a matter of 5 minutes, we went back to the office to explain to the employee we couldn't stay because my father was in the hospital.||HE REFUSED TO GIVE US OUR MONEY BACK! VERY POOR!||We are in the process of disputing the charge with our credit card company.||The merchants response was that we were informed of their cancellation policy and that we inspected the room before paying. Both statements are not true.||Just giving anyone out there a heads up.||Probably not a good place to do business with.||And the carpet was really stained, there was a nasty smell in the room and we were greeted by a "in your face, barking dog at the office entrance".
