Cumberland Kings Bay Lodge — Hotel in St. Marys

I have to qualify here that this was truly a last resort for us - we HAD to find somewhere long term (2 months) that was cheap and this place is cheaper than anything else we could find but would I do it again? NO!||||||Yes there is drug dealing going on a lot of the time - but they are quick and tend to be very quiet so they never bothered us. The Police raided the place whilst we were there with lots of cars and officers - don't know if they achieved their goal? Turned up twice to a domestic that had gotten out of control so if you stay here expect that you will see the Police at some point.||||||It is a long term accommodation so yes there are families living here and people who are down on their luck and most are ok people but it does mean you also have an element who just don't care and it shows. ||||The first room we had was on the front of the lodge and it was reasonable BUT we had drunken Duncan next to us and his nightly performances starts at about midnight and go for about 3 hours. We did enquire about moving and were told we couldn't! But a few nights later Drunken Duncan went on until 0530 and it was unforgivable - we got a move this time - to the middle section. We are avid non smokers and we checked the rooms first but they all stunk so we returned to the office only to be told they had no control over their guests and if we wanted clean non smoking that would cost more to deliver and the prices would have to go up and they weren't that kind of place. What???||||||We settled into the least smelly room (its all relative) and discovered to our horror that we weren't alone. We had an infestation of cockroaches. Not wanting to face the wrath again at the front desk we set too and started spraying and wiping and cleaning. The place is filthy!!!! The floor had not been washed in so long I washed it 5 times before I got a result I was happy with. We sprayed everyday and cleaned everyday but those cockroaches persisted. So word of warning don't leave anything out - anything!!!||||||They advertise breakfast on their site and also on the login page for the internet however this is completely false. There is coffee only and no breakfast at all. Our question about this was met with a sniff and the statement that "No one reads that website and we haven't updated it in years"||||The other thing that is advertised is the 'kitchenette" - well yes there is a two burner stove and yes there are cupboards and a fridge and a microwave but no plates, bowls, cutlery, cooking utensils of any sort at all. Nothing. Nada. The microwave in our room was filthy, had a mind of its own and regularly threw its plate off - oh and the cockroaches loved it! yes there was a hole in the corner that they could come in and out of.||||||There is free internet and there is cable TV so there is an upside but the blanket from Bergen Belsen was the pits, the sheets had holes and stains, the toilet would run all night and the noisy neighbours could be a right pain so the internet and TV don't make up for this.||||Be warned - yes it is cheap BUT if you can afford more...

Roach infested, all rooms are smoking rooms, no reservation system so they accept anyone on a first come first served basis only. I developed a bronchial infection possibly from roach droppings, mites, mold or from roach bomb/poisons they use. The front door jambs weren’t secure and looked like they’ve been kicked in once or thrice. The exterior and the main office look good but the rooms are disgusting. Duct tape was used to hide rot and holes for roach traffic. Walls are yellow from cigarettes. Hot water system was excellent. No refunds so beware. This might do for someone way down on their luck temporarily but it is not for someone needing a safe and clean place, not even for a weekend, be mindful of potential lung infections, it’s been terrible for...

Would never stay again if it was the only motel around. When my husband and I first checked and went to room found it to be OK after being there for a month started seeing a couple roaches. Then boom it was like everywhere you looked in room they were there. so notified office and they told me they had to put a work order in. The next day they sent maintenance (ha ha) to room and spayed something and said he would be back Monday to spray again nevertheless no one showed so I had been paid for 2 weeks and I could not put up with bugs any more checked out but I still had another week paid . Now I should have had a refund due to me which I still have not received It has been 2 weeks since I have been waiting for my money So my point is DON'T...
