Where to start here. We primarily came to this resort to attend a concert on the premises. The very small venue draws major bands each summer and fall. It is great to have an artist so close to the audience! Dinner and breakfast were included as well as the concert and room. Extra charge for seating unless you want standing room only which a actually has chairs too just a little farther away. The food is very very good, and this as well as the small intimate concert venue is why I’ve rated it as I did. | The problem with the lodging here is that it is a 100 year old building seemingly renovated in the 70’s with all the wood paneling. The rooms have bathrooms in the hall and a shower adjoins two rooms (coveted downstairs rooms have a toilet also shared between rooms). Our room had a gaping hole where the air conditioner was supposed to attach to the plastic accordion piece to keep the elements out. We had biting lady bugs and a wasp in the room as well as drafts which wears actually a plus because it was a beautiful day but the windows don’t open. The bathroom stalls in the womens restroom did not lock, none of them on either floor. Our room door did not close all the way so it couldn’t be locked from the outside. We met at least one other person with the same problem. Doors have skeleton keys. So keep this in mind if you want to book here. Agree with previous poster the pillows are horrible think hard decorative sofa pillows with a pillow case. The box spring on one of our twin beds was falling apart with the metal showing and covering ripped. Might be worth it to stay if the situation was right idk. Not the worst place I’ve stayed at but definitely...
Read moreWelcome to the float capital of Missouri and a 100 year old step back in time. We stayed in Room #51, a honeymoon suite in 1922 which boasted a private, "refreshing" shower. Access to your room is via a Skeleton Key. There are no TV's or elevator and the Wifi is limited. The hotel has central air/heat but it is not room specific. Our room had a ceiling fan and was adorned with period furniture and fixtures. You must make due with 1 double, 2 prong electrical outlet. There are 3 shared Men's/Women's bathrooms. Breakfast is served at 7:30am and dinner at 6:00pm in the dining hall. All food is home made, excellently prepared and presented buffet style. Your reserved table awaits you. BYOB as there is no official bar. Amenities include Peace & Quiet, large, enclosed porches, 2nd floor game room, Tennis court, 1/2 court basketball hoop, shuffleboard and outdoor pool. The hottub is a casualty of Covid. The hotel reception area has a fireplace and an open, 2nd floor wrap around balcony that lends itself to musical talents such as Poco, John Kay of Steppenwolf, Ricky Skaggs, The Marshal Tucker Band, Ozark Mountain Daredevils, Lovin' Spoonful, Starship & Micky Thomas, Juice Newton and the Pure Praire League. We...
Read moreOh, I just love this place! I love that it is tucked in the woods near Steelville, MO. A group of gals stay there every year for several days. We go when there is no concert crowd. Most of us stay on the 1st floor. The food is awesome, service is the best and friendliest. The place was built in the 1920's and the owners try to maintain the charm of that era. My family has also stayed at the Lodge for family reunions. Oh my, 75 of us always enjoyed staying together under one roof and having them feed us and we swam in the huge pool and played tennis, basketball, horseshoes and shuffleboard and other games. A large number of our group had a great time on a float trip. The first floor rooms have shower and toilet area attached between each 2 rooms. The upstairs rooms have a shower between 2 rooms and the toilets are down the hall, European style. It's always very clean and tidy. If you are looking for ultra modern accommodations, you might want to try elsewhere. It's more for folks who appreciate charm, great service, wonderful food and beautiful...
