Trapp Family Lodge Guest Houses — Hotel in Stowe

My multi generational family and I visited for Thanksgiving 2023. (Including the holiday meal, all the food and drink is super) A solid relaxing experience. My wife and I had massages at the wellness center with Loren, and she was awesome. My daughters, who are competitive swimmers, were able to work out in the pool. There aren't many places that offer a holiday experience with this type of festive ambiance in New England. Stowe is known for winter sports and a somewhat tourist feel, including the prices. We stayed in the main guest lodge, and all felt Von Trapp Family Lodge delivered value and family experience. I would definitely consider coming back for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year. It's not for everyone and it won't fit everyone's budget....and I'm thankful for that because you get what you pay for. It's no different in the Hamptons, Martha's Vineyar, or Nantucket. FANTASTIC VACATION They had free ice cream from 2-3 on one of the days I stayed and let me tell you. It was the best ice cream i just about think i’ve ever had. Rich flavor, a veriety of toppings, and many flavors to choose from. I would come here agian if only for the ice cream and smiling faces. I went on a few tours provided by the lodge including a cow tour, brewery tour, sugar maple tour, and even went and played disc golf on the property. It was so much fun and had great options for what I could do. I left my grandma sleeping many times and went down to the lobby to make conversation and meet new people. I expect this would easily be a 5 star review if we actually stayed there. Unlike my wife I've never watched 'The Sound of Music' and this facility is ran and managed by the family the movie is based on. Anyway we just toured up there for a day, had a late lunch, looked around the grounds (they're beautiful), and got a history presentation of the family and all they lived through. Anyway there's a lot of outdoor activities and beautiful views, at least I was told they're beautiful as the weather blocked everything.
