A Mixed Experience at Trapp Cafe
I recently visited the Trapp Family Lodge with my partner after hearing about the sugar shack during maple season. We were excited and made the 45-minute drive to explore the resort and enjoy a seasonal experience. Our first stop was the Von Trapp Cafe on the resort grounds to grab some breakfast and ask for directions to the sugar shack.
The cafe itself was charming, and the food was satisfying. However, our interaction at the counter was disappointing. When I asked the cashier for directions to the sugar shack, I was met with a dismissive attitude and a repeated question: “Are you a guest?” Despite confirming that we were visiting to support the public businesses on-site, the cashier stated, “I cannot help you,” and offered no further assistance.
This exchange left us feeling unwelcome and discouraged from exploring more of the resort. As someone who values inclusive customer service, I hope that the Trapp Family Lodge ensures all guests and visitors—whether staying overnight or simply stopping by—are treated with respect and hospitality, regardless of how they look or where they’re from.
I’m still glad I got to see part of the property, and I hope to return under more positive circumstances. Feedback like this is shared in the hope that it helps improve the experience...
Read moreWhat everyone else has already said holds true: the foods, the views, the staff. What no one prepared me for is the absolute abundance of incredibly beautiful and stunning performances of classical, baroque, and renaissance recorded chamber music that is floating through the air and coloring every bite of my Black Forrest Ham and Cheese Croissant and making my maple latte that much sweeter. As a professional violinist who has travelled so much of this incredible country it’s the music of a place that can be transportive. This is the purpose of this stunning music. Viennese adore their classical music and this is the cherry on top. Sounds like it’s time to book my Austrian vacation!! Come for the coffee, lattes, every single pastry in the case and the views. Stay for the service and the attention to detail and the music, live AND Pre-recorded. Pros: easy parking, clear signage, delicious and highest quality food, location Cons: prices are decent for the quality, service can be a bit slower than expected
I will be back with my family in the summer or anytime of year for this relaxing and inspiring experience!! It’s worth a trip up the...
Read moreI once gave this place a 5 star rating... not now! Yesterday, I went in for one of my favorite desserts. They didn't have it. They told me that I could order it for today. I ordered to slices with the promise that it would be there today. When I went in today they did not have it... they had only one slice. The lady behind the counter blamed me saying I should have waited and taken it with me yesterday. I again explained that we had ordered for today. She then gets the head baker to come out. He yells at me and tells me that he is overworked and underpaid. He was loud, rude and inappropriate. I am so disappointed at how the service has deteriorated there. Do yourself a favor and go to a different bakery. This place is no longer worth your time or your money. Trapp Family Lodge was once a great resort. Oh how things have changed. I would rate it 0...
