Really a nice campground, the host was nice, campground was clean, restrooms with showers were cleaned daily. No litter around, roads were well maintained. A creek runs through the campground, which is fully wooded. The website states tent camping only, which is not accurate. We were in a class C motorhome, there were plenty of pull behind trailers in campsites when we were there. No hookups but they do have an RV sewage dumpsite. Lots of young families and young hikers and retired people camping there. Fire ring, lantern pole and picnic table at every site. Beautiful forested sites and lots of songbirds. There is a swimming hole at the day use area. Bring lifejackets for little kids. Many campsites are large enough to accommodate a 27-30' trailer. Close enough to Front Royal, which has a Walmart and Target and anything you might need. Not far from the entrance to Skyline Drive. Disabled and Seniors with federal park passes pay half price. Summer camping is $14/day without permit or $7/day...

I've never been bothered by loud or inconsiderate campers which is a major...
Read morereally nice area with access to lots of trails. the interpretive trails are interesting. my 1 star is for the forestry people that manage this place. for some reason they close the big parking lot in the cold months while the little lot is crammed full. i'm there on a cold blustery non holiday middle of the week visit and it's at capacity plus cars parked in the do not park zone. i guess they think nobody does nature stuff when it's winter? whats the reason for closing the big lot? there's nothing there except...lots of parking spots. i've hiked the trails in that area so i'm glad i won't need...
