Fletcher Canyon is a fairly easy trail to follow. There is parking across the street and a crosswalk that leads you to the trail head. The bathrooms that are available are basically a couple of outhouses. So bring wet wipes or hand sanitizer for afterwards and hold your breath. Parking is fairly limited, but it is adjacent to a picnic area which has fee parking, and a couple of small parking areas are available along Kyle Canyon Road, you'll just have to walk back to the trail head.
As stated before the trail is pretty easy, and it's length depends on the time of year you go. Spring run off can and rains can limit how far you go. Typically in late spring, summer and fall you can get to the end of the canyon by following along the trails that meander through the wash area. There is some scrambling along this portion of the trail, over rocks, trees etc. Albeit that scrambling is fairly easy though children and those not too athletically inclined may need some help.
Time of year, snowfall amount, and rains will determine how much if any water you may or may not see during the hike. Recommend coming early in the day for parking, plus cooler temperatures as well as wild life viewing. My hiking sisters and I have encountered several deer right around sunrise...
Read moreVery pleasant hike that parallels a running mt stream most the way. Beautiful, majestic Ponderosa Pines tower overhead and Pinyon Pines frame the trail allowing for marvelous glimpses of distant mountains behind and canyon all around. We were there mid-May, partly sunny and light breeze. Great hiking climate! Crazy the difference between here and LV or Valley of Sun. The hike is a steady gradual ascent until you reach the "falls" or blow down. You just kind of know you're at the end. On the way back, there is an option to take Eagles Nest Loop. If you have a lot more in the tank, I strongly recommend hiking it. It's totally different! The trail is not as rough, no large gravel. It includes a series of switchbacks with great views and change in flora. Considered easy. It turned out to be an unexpected ...
Read moreNice trail filled with beautiful views. It is popular and parking can be hard to come by. We went on a Sat in late June and got started at 9:00. It was clear and sunny with a light breeze. Temperature at the trailhead was around 75. Walk was comfortable in shorts, t-shirt and regular athletic shoes. The path starts out at an incline that makes you think the trail will be more moderate than easy, but once we split off from the Fletcher trail onto Eagles Nest loop, it became very easy. There is a steep incline when you initially split off of Fletcher, but the loop itself is pretty flat. With several stops to rest and take in the scenic views, it was still only about 1 hour and 20 min from the time we pulled into the parking lot to the time...
