I have been to Bunker Hill with my partner's family many summers. Most of the cabins are very old. The old rooms are just adequate. They have some cabins with more modern interiors but some of them have clearly not been updated since they were built. It's not about luxury, it's about the Jacks Fork River and nature. The entire place feels like you stepped back in time but in a good way. It's the perfect place for family with kids. There are no TVs, just nature and an interesting property to explore. We always go in June and canoe/kayak down the Jacks Fork River. There are outfitters, but they won't always take you depending on water levels, so we bring our own watercraft just in case. They have a heavily rockstrewn beach and massive limestone bluffs and serve meals. It's kind of like a mess hall. You eat what they bring you. There's no menu. Picky eaters might not like that, but they bring you enough food that there's always something for everyone. Kids are invited to ring the bell to alert everyone on the hillside that it's meal time. We usually see a lot of wildlife around the property and on the long driveway to the ranch. It's a great place to let the kids run free and play along the river and float downstream. We always book well in advance because I believe they fill up quickly. There is no cell service unless you walk or drive up the hill, but it's a nice place to disconnect from work and plug...
Read moreThis was our second year staying here for a weekend. I have a 7 year old and a toddler. I really enjoye how easy it is to get to the gravel bar by the cabins. They have canoes and kayaks you can you use and there's a little current that you could sit in an tube and just float. There is absolutely no cell service. So we made sure to pre download a few shows and movies for the kids. They serve breakfast and dinner so you're on your own for lunch. But the meals they do serve are delicious and filling. They have a small fridge in the cabin but no ovens or anything to really cook on. We brought yogurts, fruits, pb and j stuff and turkey sandwiches. But there are also places to grill if you want to plan for that. The gravel bar is really nice and honestly we hardly ever interacted with anyone besides our group because there's so much room and privacy. My kids loved playing with nets in the water and they caught everything from small fish to baby turtles and crawdads. Besides the river there's volley ball, basketball, mini golf, and a small playground. There hasn't been a cabin that we had yet that has a bath tub but they have a really nice shower. I only mention this because it was a little difficult doing that with our toddler, so plan a head! Overall I would definitely recommend...
Read moreFirst time visit- Why did I wait so long to visit this place? My Best Friend and I loved our cabin with no Internet connection or television. It was truly a place to decompress. Every morning and evening we relaxed on the screened in porch facing the river. The Spring Trail required water shoes as it had rained pretty heavy the night before. The trail had several small waterfalls leading to the spring where sat an old log bench. Buddy, a local and handyman at Bunker Hill, was full of old wise tales and knows a lot about the history of the area. Buddy said that his father had also worked at Bunker Hill. The manager, Matt, was super helpful with Jacks Fork River floating knowledge and area attractions. Stefanie, Matt’s wife and also a manager at Bunker Hill, was super friendly, professional, and answered all of my questions in previous email contacts. I have booked another stay this October for my husband and I. I can not wait to explore more...
