Check in was fairly smooth, even though I gave front desk all the same information I had provided when booking online.
Went to elevator on first floor and was met with an odor best described as a heavy sweat smell. Luckily it was in one spot and didn’t follow us in to elevator. Got to room soon after and was met with another very funky smell right at the door, this one different from elevator. This time it was like a mixture of must and mildew and it was only right at the door and didn’t follow us in to room. BEWARE OF THE DOOR! It was VERY heavy and hard to push open even for me, let alone my teenage daughter and 6 year old.
Beds were fairly comfortable, pillows very small for an adult in my opinion.
Tub NEEDS a mat on the bottom. Got very slick to the point my 6 year old slipped while just standing still. I ended up putting a towel down in the shower so she wasn’t scared anymore of falling again.
Breakfast wasn’t very good to the point after “eating it” we ended up driving 10 minutes south to Hart and eating at a restaurant there.
By far the worst experience was checkout. Mind you that check out is 11am. Was greeted to a knock on our door at 8am from housekeeping asking if we had checked out yet. Politely told them no, that we were still packing up and would be out shortly. About 5 minutes later I walked out the door to grab some ice for my wife only to be questioned by the same man asking if I was leaving now, which now upset me. Once again politely told him no, we were still finishing up and this time I made it known that we had until 11am to leave. We finished packing up about another 5 minutes later, came out of the door to be greeted by another housekeeper across the hallway asking if we were finally done in the room. I snapped and told them yes, have the room since you want to push us out. Told front desk about the issue but I feel like it’s an issue that doesn’t get addressed.
If we stay in/near Pentwater again I will likely look at a different location or just stay 10 minutes up the road...
Read moreThe room was clean. The walls must be thick, because I never heard anything outside of my room, minus doors slamming shut. There was a fridge and microwave.
The doors out front are not accessible. It’s difficult to handle when you have your arms full of stuff. They have two sets of doors too, so that’s twice the fun. Also the room doors are very heavy to open, and quickly slam shut on their own (hence why I heard people slamming their doors).
The internet was really good! I was fully expecting slow enough speeds that you’d be lucky to load a picture, but I was able to watch videos on my phone, no problem.
The bathtub was really tall and wide. It was hard to get into. I have slight balance problems due to a disability and I had a bit of trouble getting into it. If I booked again, I would go for an accessible room.
The hotel was pretty quiet, almost eerily vacant. I saw a few other guests around, and that was it. The front desk is empty, and you need to ring a bell for service. They also closed the desk at midnight, stating due to staffing problems.
At first I didn’t think this of an issue. But because I’m vacationing, I didn’t get to my room to sleep until about 11-11:30. I found after getting into bed, the sheets were very thin, to the point it hardly felt like it kept any warmth in. (I like sleeping in cold with a bundle of blankets.) I thought about asking for more blankets, but it was past midnight at this point so I just made do. The pillows were bad, but I brought my own anyway.
Also, in the entryway there is a fire alarm that looks broken. It’s like the first thing you see, too.
Upon entering the front door, the bathroom is right on the right. It has a door that opens outwards automatically, blocking the closet. That was a bit weird, but the layout was fine otherwise. There are two sinks, and one sink is just past the bathroom door.
Other than my nitpicks, it’s a pretty lovely hotel aesthetic wise. There’s cool fountains and a giant...
Read moreThe hotel is beautiful the rooms are nice beds a bit stiff but not that bad. There's no microwave in the room so instead I got to stand in the employees kitchen being watched by the 10 different family members that all live there in order to be able to heat food. The worst part is they wanted to call me well I was tending to my child and accused me of having a bunch of other people in my room then they discovered they were talking to the wrong person but I got to deal with the rudeness and disrespect and then in the morning they're knocking on my door way before checkout time asking me when I'm going to check out which they had no reason to be knocking on my door very rude definitely should have been offered some reimbursement for being accused of things that weren't even me if they have enough time to sit there staring at people all around in the hallways they maybe should have had enough time to correct to themselves.... More than one person came into the kitchen and the lady that knocked on my door in the morning did not ask me if I needed more towels she asked me if I was checking out and you're just proving the point that you guys have a lot of time to sit around staring at people you were watching when I went to the pool you were watching when I was heating up my food it's extremely rude and everything that was done to me and my children while we were there was extremely rude and you may be could have just apologized instead of making excuses that aren't even correct I know what the lady said to me I know how rude the person that called me was on the phone even after telling them that I didn't have other people in my room and that they were more than welcome to come check they...
