I have been and currently am (as of 21Jan15) staying in the Nellis Inn main building. I have been overall unimpressed and somewhat annoyed by my stay. There are features of this lodging facility that are not negative, but I wouldn't be so inclined to put them in the pros section of a pro/con list. The rooms are decent, mine has 2 closets, a microwave, fridge, enough lighting (actually the lighting in my room, plus the fact that I have a bathroom sink and a sink outside the actual bathroom are the only pluses). Do NOT expect to be able to get WiFi unless you are staying right next to the lobby. They have 3 different networks but none of them actually work unless you are near the front desk area. I was lucky to have a single tab in Chrome actually working and half the time I was unable to even load strictly text-based pages, much less stream YouTube, and don't even think about Netflix or trying to skype with your pregnant wife you're about to leave for a year while you go to Korea. "Oh, well that's terrible," you might be saying, "I will just connect to the in-room Ethernet/phone cable for internet and completely bypass the WiFi issue." Nope, there is nowhere to connect your computer to in the rooms that will get you a hardline internet connection. Your only options are using the "Business Center" which is a small, terribly ventilated closet-like room with a temperature around 90 degrees constantly since there is zero airflow aside from the heater vent in the ceiling that remorselessly pumps hot air into the room. The room contains three slow, broken computers that do have smart card readers, only one of which actually reads your smart cards, and they store everyone's certificates so not only are they completely slow but you also have to scroll through 50 different people's names just to try and find your own certs and the crap isn't in alphabetical order. If you happen to manage to log into the portal and access the internet web page where you can view your govt email, don't actually expect to view anything important as the computers have zero security and anything beyond the normal bs from your flight chiefs about squadron functions, picture days, and overdue CBT notifications won't be accessible. Your other option, which i highly recommend, is going to the lobby and using your computer there, so long as you turn your volume up loud and make sure to complain about the bad WiFi connection to your spouse/significant other on Skype. The beds are terribly uncomfortable, I find myself waking constantly in the night because some new part of me is sore. The women who come by and clean your room are nice enough, however if you try to have some privacy and don't like some stranger coming into your room around all your valuables and so keep the 'do not disturb sign' on the door lit (yeah, there are little LED signs by the door that you can press form the inside to tell them if you want your room serviced, which is cool) for more than 2 days they slide a letter under your door saying that no matter what they will be coming in the next day. Also don't bring your game consoles as there is no way to hook them up to the TVs in the room.
All in all, this place sucks. It is one of the worst Lodging facilities I have stayed in and, despite the rest of the base being fantastic, this place is a dump. If you can, just spend the extra money and avoid the hassle by staying off base, as there are plenty of hotels right...
Read moreI was here on orders and due to being forced to have a roommate, I couldn't get a room off base without causing my roommate financial issues. Here is a list of my issues with this place: Nobody explains the heating/air controls up front. They are set/controlled by a motion detector so when you think you have it right and go lay down, you wake up freezing or burning up due to not moving. This is stupid. How about a straight forward thermostat or better yet, just post the directions on the wall above the thermostats. Members authorized full single room rates may be forced to double occupy rooms/unable to move to separate rooms per their orders. Wireless internet is allegedly offered in rooms. My room offered no wireless internet unless you sat against the door to the room at which it would then show up intermittently. When asked about at the front desk, I was told "they are working on that but we will send someone to look at it." Either nobody came or nobody left a message about it. Either way, nobody ever did anything about it. I was able to make it function to some extent by purchasing a $35 wireless repeater. For $45 a night from myself AND my roommate (on a $60 a night room), you'd think they could have afforded it too... Maids are required to enter your room every 3 days whether you like it or not "for your safety." I never found it any safer, but I did find it inconvenient leaving the room for an hour for them to clean after working 21 hour days. There is no exercise equipment there. You have to cross 1/4 of the base to the gym to get to it. The food café there has the most inconvenient hours. I hope you didn't actually want coffee. The jets might as well be taking off, flying through, and landing in your room while you are trying to sleep. The "business room" has 4 computers. 2 are broken. When the "Repair by" date comes due, they replace the note with a new one with that shows 30 days later. 1 Computer does not have the proper software to use government common access cards on it. Very unhelpful since 99% of people using these are government employees doing government business. The "working computer" was missing the software to open government forms. Basically, the business room was a joke which was only made more amusing by the fact that it was managed by a TSgt in the USAF.
Given the choice I would never stay at this location again. As a matter of fact, I would prefer to come out of pocket as opposed to stay at the Nellis Inn. For $1 less a night, I could stay 1 block off of the Las Vegas strip in comparable accommodations, but much better surroundings.

Read moreOur stay the Nellis Airforce Inn was spoiled by frequent issues with the air conditioning and bugs. We stayed there a total of 2 weeks and during that time spent a week without AC with our room temperatures around ~90 degrees. This is unacceptable when you have temperatures outside of 106 - 113. Furthermore, when someone calls the front desk for an update on the AC outage you should NOT tell the customer to go find the mechanic that he's "Somewhere around your room go look for him" it’s not acceptable. I've marked down on the feedback survey that housekeeping did a poor job only because there was not an option for front desk workers or managers. The Housekeeping/Cleaning staff were about the only positive thing I have to say about my stay at the Inn. The front desk/inn managers are completely oblivious to the quality of room they're providing. Every room has bugs - tiny beetles to be exact. While on the phone with the front desk offering me another room because I killed 30-40 beetles my first night. I walked up to the two housekeeping ladies who were cleaning the room I was offered, and they confirmed that the beetles are in EVERY ROOM. I relayed this information to the front desk clerk who also heard their comments and was surprised stating she didn't know that they had this issue and would follow up with management. Besides the frequent AC outages and bugs, the front desk staff are generally unhelpful and make customers feel like...
