Where to begin with this one...This Hampton Inn is definitely on the bottom rung of the MANY we have stayed in. The coffee area, dining area and hallways were attractive and well-maintained, but that's where the good impression ends. We had a king suite for two nights at Thanksgiving and the room itself was okay EXCEPT for the horribly tough mattress...hubby and I both still have sore backs. I did like the "feather-style" pillows, but there weren't enough of them in the room to properly relax. The linens were very low quality-basically takes two towels to dry off properly, but we did like the furnishings, although the openness of the floor plan wasn't ideal. There were two elevators, but one of them had been broken for a) I heard one year from a local lady and b) hubby heard two years from a frequent guest. So the hotel was full and one elevator running- the door on the "working' elevator made a very loud racket each and every time it opened and closed. Luckily we were at the end of the hall but I felt sorry for the guests whose rooms were near that area. The breakfast items were par for the course-standard for this type of amenity and seemed to have good variety. Our main issue with our stay was the way I was hassled by one particular young woman who worked there. Early on the first morning while returning from walking our two small dogs I stopped in to grab a juice to take up to hubby. In that moment I didn't even think twice about them being with me, and standing at the edge of the food area. I hurried as quickly as I could but not before the staff woman made a special trip back there just to scold me about it. LOUDLY. Mortified, I left the area. She had been right, but some tact and a lower volume would have been appreciated! Later we both went down to eat so I sat literally just inside the eating area with the fur kids while waiting for hubby to fix his plate. These are pet friendly hotels and I honestly thought it was fine that we were seated at the spot nearest the lobby and furthest from the food area. Not so much. That same young woman immediately came up and once again scolded me. Once again LOUDLY. She literally would not stop scolding me and repeating herself LOUDLY until I got myself, the pups, my bag and hubby's coat up off that seat and took us elsewhere around the corner to wait. Girlfriend was practically leaning over me! After I regained some composure, I went up to the counter and asked her, "what does this pet friendly hotel do when a guest needs to eat but has their pet with them? Is there a pet friendly seating area in this pet friendly hotel?" She couldn't answer me. Just said pet guests should find a place to eat outside. OUTSIDE in the 40-degree weather. Okay. I let her know that I had not appreciated the way she had chosen to handle the whole thing; it's called the hospitality business for a reason. Bottom line is this- be aware that this Hampton Inn has broken elevators, hard mattresses and cheap linens but they're worried about where you're sitting with your little dog. Seems their priorities need a little attention, and we don't recommend this one.
Mr. Eagle, thank you for your response to this review. Unfortunately, I have not heard a peep from the hotel. They told you wrong; just thought you should know.
*Mr Eagle, I see that our account has been credited with the entire balance of our stay, save the pet fee. Thank you very much for making it right; we didn't expect anything at all so thank you. We did actually have a very nice visit otherwise, and would definitely return to...
Read moreAs a Hilton Diamond who almost exclusively stays at Hilton properties, this stay was one of the worst experiences I've had. First bad experience was when requesting a late checkout of 4pm, which is the standard for Hilton Diamond members. The only time this is to be denied is if the hotel has no availability. I was told 2pm or I could pay to stay to 4pm. So no availability, unless I give you more $$? They were obviously no where near sold out the next day (parking lot was nearly empty), but they felt it important to try and charge a Hilton Diamond member for 2 extra hours. Thanks for the impressive customer service.
As that situation ended, with no notification, notes on the final bill, or anything, I see an EXTRA $75 charge on my credit card statement. I called and they tried to explain this was a "deep cleaning fee" for having a pet in the room. BEWARE IF YOU BRING YOUR PET HERE -- THIS IS A SCAM! While I paid the normal pet fee on the bill without a concern, this EXTRA $75 IS A SCAM. My dog was in the crate the entire time in the room. 100% certain he did not cause ANY damage in the room, have any accidents, or anything. Yet, they still try and charge an EXTRA $75 for what? I asked for an explanation and got a bunch of "we may have had to..." reasons. Again, besides regular vacuuming and changing the sheets (please tell me you do this between guests already), what exactly did you do? They agreed to "waive" the SCAM charge, but "just this one time." Well good news, I won't be back at this hotel so no need to worry about any future stays.
FAIR WARNING -- Clearly they get good reviews so I may have had a one-off experience, but BEWARE IF YOU HAVE PETS --...
Read moreUnder the worst of circumstances I needed to stay at this hotel this past Monday night. I was greeted when I came in by Aaron who said he had been waiting for my arrival, but that I could of taken as long as needed to check in. I was checked in an offered water or a snack, which i declined. I went to our room to drop off our belongings and headed to a family members house to grab a bite to eat, share a sad story, cry and laugh. Then back to the hotel were we rested for the night very comfortably. We awoke early to dress for the funeral service and headed down to breakfast, served in the breakfast hall. I believe the beautiful woman's name was Anne who offered to get us anything we needed. She went out of her way to supply the necessities for me to have a drink I wanted, carried one of my cups to the table for me, then stopped what she was doing to get us an address to the church, which was not part of her job. Breakfast was over but before she put anything up she came over to us asked if there was anything else we wanted or needed and that if we wanted anything just to knock on the door. Of course we were so full and needed nothing. As we loaded up to leave, the people at the front desk wished us well. Earl had worked here for years and I was floored by the comrodary and excellent service we received. I should mention no-one knew me or had seen me before and yet I was treated as family. After which I attended the service to find several of the hotel employees and management in the back row of the church, there to support the family of one of their own. I would suggest this hotel to anyone and I will be staying here again. Thank you so much for being available...
