Diamondhead Resort Tahlequah, OK floating trip! We did the 12 mile. start earlier lol than 10am if you like to stop a lot but so much fun!

For those interested in tent camping and leisurely river floats, this location might be satisfactory. However, for RV camping, I would strongly advise seeking alternative options. Despite their website's claim of grill and fire pit availability at all campsites, this is not accurate. Additionally, the freedom to start fires anywhere with small dimensions is granted, but you cannot surround them with rocks or other materials. The availability of grills was limited to just a few spots. Turning our attention to their RV services, they offer two dump stations. Unfortunately, one of them is marked but situated on uneven ground, making it nearly impossible to properly empty your RV due to the awkward angle required for entry. This station lacks a clear driveway or cement pad; it's essentially a hole in the ground with a screw cap. The second RV dump station is uphill, unmarked, and lacks a designated exit path. People who have used it have created makeshift paths, resulting in deep ruts leading downhill from the station. When we reached out to inquire about other RV-friendly campsites with dump stations, we were immediately asked if we were referring to Diamond Head—implying its notorious reputation. While family-owned operations aren't always negative, this one suffers from a lack of strong work ethic among some of its younger staff members. Although the staff was generally cordial, their assistance was limited. The restroom facilities were abysmal, with one toilet, one urinal, a soap-less sink, and two showers in each bathroom. Cleaning them once a day was insufficient, and the grass that had been freshly mowed just prior to our arrival inevitably made its way into our camper, RV, and the bathrooms. In summary, if your primary goal is river floating, Diamond Head might suit your needs. Their pricing, around $33 per person, is reasonable. While cabins are available, we cannot provide a review of them as we opted for our camper. Tent camping appears to be passable, but for RV owners, I strongly recommend seeking accommodations elsewhere.

My husband, one year old, and myself stayed here at the motel for 2 nights over 4th of July. While our friends camped at the campground. We left very frustrated and unhappy.

We checked out on time, then went down to hangout with our friends for another few hours before leaving. We got called by the office while we were still there. And the first thing they said was angrily asking us if we had a dog in our room without telling them (we did not). And when we said no. They then asked us why there was poop all up inside both beds everywhere, under the covers. And that they had photos and were going to be charging us a $50 fee.

We were so taken back by this untrue accusation that we were completely gobsmacked and speechless for a few moments before we asked what the hell they were talking about.

Yes, our 1yr old of course wears diapers and had bowel movements while we were there. But our daughter slept on a cot on the floor, my husband and I slept together in one bed, and the other bed was only used to hold our bags. NOT TO MENTION we only changed our daughter ON TOP of the comforter with our OWN blanket ontop of that! So how could it of been in the other bed unless it was there before us?

And my husband and I certainly didn't poop through our pants into our own bed together! Not even if we were drunk, and we were sober the entire time we were there! AND before we checked out, I straightened the sheet and made the bed back with the comforter on top. And there definitely was NOT anything there.

As for her diapers. We brought our own disposable diaper bin, they did not go into the regular trash. It had a lid that was sticky and stuck down to shut and close the bin. And I had originally intented to take and throw that away myself when we left. But I was not sure where their dumpster was. So I very regrettably ended up leaving it neatly next to the trash can that needed taken out. I wiped down the top and everything, all the diapers were sealed inside, and it had a little spot on the top to grab it from and toss it away with. (I wouldve put it in the trashcan If there had been enough room. But it was completely full and did not fit into the small can anyway)

It is my belief that for whatever reason. The house keeper was mad at us because my daughter left crumbs everywhere (though we did our best to pick up what we could. She had Oatmeal pies that she balled in her fist and carried around) And our only guess is they must have opened the container, found a poop diaper and shook it out onto both beds and then called management. My husband suggested maybe they even get a bonus for cleaning extra gross rooms like that or something.

Or my other guess is that it was from long ago/a different room and they had kept the photos and were using it as a long scam for multiple people.

Since we were still there, i did drive back and and go talk to the manager (owner) and super quickly she flashed me two different photos of small nuggets on two white sheets. But they were completely zoomed in where you couldn't even see the edges of the beds, rest of the room, or the other supposedly poop bed in the same photo together. As well as the nuggets were absolutely perfect and not smeared onto the sheets or squished or anything at all. Like they were perfectly placed there just moments before.

I didn't want to sit there and argue over something so absolutely ridiculous. We are both cleanly people, as cleanly as we can be with a young toddler. We are constantly pickup up after her, wiping surfaces, making beds again, making sure the towels are all together in a pile etc etc.

And how could I stand up for myself when we were not talking privately but infront of the entire lobby of probably 15-20people eagerly awaiting to get their gear and float for the 4th of July. And she was talking loudly to me about the poop we left with no shame.

But we are still. Almost 2 months later. Both completely infuriated and humiliated that we had to wrongly go through that. We will never be using them again. Nor will any of our...

We checked in on 7-11-25 and asked what time we needed to be there for the long float trip. The lady checking us in said anytime between 8-11am. It was raining pretty heavy the next morning, but the forecast said it be stopping, so we waiting until 1045 to go up there and we were told we were 45 minutes too late for the long trip. The lady told us she knew who was working yesterday who had given us incorrect info, but sorry, it’s too bad today, we could only go on the short trip, even thought it was because of their staffs incompetency, we still had to pay the price for them giving us incorrect info. Once we got to where the kayaks were, they only had 2 and we needed 3. We were told by the river hands that they had no way to communicate with the people at the office, so my son asked the next driver that came by dropping rafts off, if he could please bring another kayak. In all, we needed up waiting for over 30 minutes for the third kayak to get there. We were floating the next day as well, so when we checked in at 930, to make sure we got on the long trip, I even asked could they please have 2 kayaks waiting for us when we get to the drop off spot? I was told “I how they will have them”. No one seemed concerned at all, and when we got there, sure enough there was only one l, so once again we had to wait a good 20 minutes for another kayak to show up. Also upon check in, we stood in line for 20 minutes, only to be told we were in the wrong line. I feel like something as simple as signs would be helpful and they wouldn’t even need to depend on their incompetent staff……..it was very disappointing, none of the staff seems to know or care what was going on. We will not be going back here due to no one being able to communicate and then having to wait 2 days in a row for the right amount of kayaks to be delivered. No one once said “sorry” it was just too bad we were given incorrect by their staff. This business is under new ownership and probably needs to find a new owner judging by my experience. There were several unhappy guests waiting in the chaos to check in, but once again, something as simple as a sign to tell you which line to be in, could’ve prevented this. Of the 5 kayaks we used, 2 were broken and the staff said that most of their things were broken and run down. I wouldn’t waste my money if I were you, unless you love poor...

Beware of Diamondhead Resort!!!

Just spent $260 on the cabin for twelve and it was FILTHY dirty. The AC works great, but that's just about all I can say good about the cabin. The bathroom was just plain disgusting, looked like it hadn't been scrubbed in months. The tile floors throughout the cabins needed desperately to be mopped, the refrigerator was grossly dirty, and some of the provided bedding had unidentified stains which we simply turned our eyes from and pretended must be nothing because we were plan exhausted when we arrived. Also, for a cabin that is supposed to sleep 12 people, there were a total of 5 towels. Hmmmm....

Not only was the cabin disgusting, but Diamondhead Resort just totally ripped us off on a float trip we spent $192 on. I had called repeatedly to check on the water level because we had 2 3 year-olds coming on the trip, so I did my homework. I asked the questions any concerned mom would ask and was "sold" the float trip as a "lazy river" trip which would be a breeze with kids. The water levels are so low right now that we literally had to push/pull our 3 floats 4 out of the 6 miles. Well, this float trip was ANYTHING but lazy. It was downright miserable. I've been on dozens of float trips and loved them. But this one was the worst by far. Then when I very rationally and calmly expressed to the owner my disappointment and concern at being sold a trip which I felt had been highly misrepresented (I didn't even request a refund!!!), the owner (who looked and acted as if he was either a meth addict, high on something I've never heard of, ridiculously drunk, or maybe all three) actually got an inch from my face and and screamed profanities at me for a good five minutes and physically threatened me. And his wife repeatedly called me a b*tch. It was highly unprofessional bully me just because I was expressing my real concerns as a customer about having basically been lied to about what our "lazy river" float trip would be like. I had to ask them to call the police because the dude was so crazy. PLUS they wouldn't give me my car keys so I could just leave. They held them hostage until I reminded them that there were cameras in their place of business in which the police could easily actually observe what happened, rather than having to take either of our words for it. Horrible,...
