The campground has nice paved roads, quite a few flush toilet facilities, many water supply spigots, and friendly helpful staff.
My campsite was quite large with room for several tents, fire pit and charcoal grill were provided. The number of campers per site is limited depending where in the campground your site is located.
My cell coverage was spotty, inspite of my service provider showing the area well covered on their map. Not the campground's fault, but be prepared.
I think there was only one shower facility. I had a short stay and did not visit the showers, and do not know if they were accessible. Some campsites are marked disabled, but the adjoining restrooms have no ADA facilities. The amphitheater also has no ADA parking or seating arrangement.
There are several trails from the campground, including a trail to the beach. Estimated about 1 mile. With my current ability level I did not attempt it.
There are maps of the campground available, but the ones I saw were not to scale. I found it difficult to estimate where I was and the relationship to other things without a scale. They were still far superior to no map at all in helping me locate my campsite.
They are serious about the bears. We did not have any enter the campground while we were there, but one was spotted on the highway near by. EVERYTHING with a food scent or fragrance must be locked up bear tight except when in use. They provide a "bear box" cupboard, and bear proof dumpsters. You can bring a certified bear proof cooler and lock it properly, or fit a cooler in the bear box, which is heavy lifting. Failure to follow these policies can result in fines of $1,000 and loss of use of the facility-- they are not joking!
I remember seeing the bears in other campgrounds 40 years ago where they were constant pests. I think this system is...

Read moreI tent camped for three nights towards the middle to end of May of 2022. I heard there were supposed to be a lot of bears, but I did not see one at all, which I was actually bummed out about. My camp neighbor saw one earlier in the morning before I arrived for the first night. There's tons of wildlife! There's also a trail that goes all around the campgrounds and part of it leads straight out to the lake. Bathrooms are nice and well kept (just make sure to bring your own soap and towel), and there is someone patrolling the grounds every hour or so. Fire pits are very large and have a grill you can put on it if you want to smoke something, and they have charcoal grills if you prefer that. It's also not far from the nearest market and about 10 minutes from Tahoe City if you need anything more. I only gave it a 4 because the sites could stand to be more private, and the roads/parking spaces are a tad confusing if you've never been there before. Overall, it's a lovely campsite and I would definitely...
