Big T Motel — Hotel in Tarkio

This is, as Twin Peak’s Special Agent Dale Cooper puts it: “a clean room, reasonably priced.” It doesn’t get any more “no frills” than this. I travel a lot for work, and I am used to using the bigger chain hotels, because they are easy to find and reliable. I found this hotel via Trip Advisor and I found a handful of decent reviews. They are as affordable as it gets, it is a simple, clean room and nothing more. You cannot book online, you must call, and they will take nothing more than your name and phone number. They don’t send a confirmation email, which was a little disconcerting to me, but no worries….they will have your room. I joked with friends that I might be walking into a “Bates Motel” scene, but there is nothing to worry about. They are a small, family owned business. It was nice to give my money to a small, family owned business. I highly recommend…….but if you are looking for fancy or posh, this is not the motel you are...

My wife and I stayed here in the autumn of 2015, and it was clean, quiet, and very affordable. All we needed was a small, simple, clean room to spend the night before our camping trip the next day, and this was perfect for that. Of course, this isn't the kind of place that offers a suite with a swimming pool and fireplace, so in all fairness it should be judged in comparison with other economy motels. If you're looking for a modern, state of the art, romantic location to stay for your anniversary, you're expecting too much. For a good night's sleep in a clean, quiet room with a comfortable bed, this will do nicely. The married couple who managed the motel (at that time, at least) were very polite and congenial. I would definitely stay here again for the purposes mentioned above. Ignore the reviews from several years ago that are negative---it was under different...

this motel is. a joke my husband was staying for work, his phone was not working so I called the hotel they had a nickname for him when asked to connect me to his room the owner told me he. was out. upon calling back the front desk clerk told me. he was no longer staying their I had just received a text from him asking me to call his room I called her on her lie and told her he was their that I was seeing him at the hotel on GPS she hung the phone up on me i could have been very sick or a death in the family and this motel was playing games he asked me to call the next night again she told me that the person in his room wasn't taking calls I explained I had a text asking me to call she hung up on me and every time I try and reach him they are horribly rude I will drive 100 miles before I ever stay at this...
