Randolph Rampy RV Park, Tatum NM Free Camping — Hotel in Tatum

Great little stop on the way from Dallas to Roswell. This place is a great idea and I'm grateful that it exists but it's in pretty rough shape. The water spigots are all messed up. It would take like an afternoon to fix and like $100 in parts. I had to use pliers to turn the one on because the handle was completely broken off. It then sprayed water everywhere so I had to turn it on and off when I was using water. Not terrible but not ideal.

The electrical boxes were all new so that was good.

The sewer hookup is on the opposite side of the water and electrical.

The site had cell service on both AT&T and T-Mobile. I think it was 2 bars on both. I had a Zoom using AT&T and it worked well.

There was a dumpster at the site which was convenient.

Not a lot of local infrastructure nearby in terms of restaurants. Views weren't nice. Not somewhere I would hang out at for more than a night or two.

Wish there were more of these...

We spent a quiet night in this community park. All the electrical outlets are new and functioning. A walk nearby revealed some of the town's inhabitants a pig, goats, horses, sheep, dogs and cats. A rooster crowed in the distance. All welcome sights to a former farm girl. I walked a short distance this morning and picked up bread, coffee, and fruit at the Stripes gas station. While there I was delighted to see long horn cattle being transported. Tatum is the metal art center for this part of NM so there's lots of artwork evident including the park benches on the main street. After 3 weeks of boondocking we enjoyed the electricity and could have used the dump...

The power is questionable as it kept popping and fridge kept turning off and beeping. Tried to down power to a 30 amp cord and the same issue. Also, water and electric hook-up on one side and sewer on the other. Very strange. We had to park catty-wompus to hookup to all utilities. In the end, we're ran the generator because I just didn't trust the power box. YMMV if you have a power monitor. Dumpster, picnic tables, park for little kids, back court.
