**Came here for the equestrian campground section-- this review is for that specifically--** The campground is small and has only about 34 spots, about 10 of them (the upper section) for people camping with their horses. BE AWARE it's deceiving because only 4 of those spots have a corral! The campground host is super nice and doesn't mind if you move around- but- some of the non-equestrian campers may come use the designated equestrian spots too. We booked spots 34 and 33 but only 33 had a corral (single) so one of our horses had to be a couple spots away, in a single corral in spot 31. Don't recommend dripping springs for equestrian groups, untill they can establish the standard 2 pipe corrals per campsite. Sites have a spigot but the bathroom situation is just a pit toilet, no sinks or showers. Little shade for the pipe corrals. We brought our own hose and sortof cleaned ourselves that way, but we also had the place to ourselves so no worries about privacy. Dogs or cats are allowed. Trails== we took a small unnamed trail behind the equestrian campsite for sunset views (in my sunset pic) Dripping Springs trail is accessed via the metal gate at the end of the campsite. Cross the (dry as a bone, I wish it had water but this is June) creekbed and continue on the trail until the wooden signpost tells you where to go. Wild Horse trail splits off from the signpost at beginning of Dripping Springs trail. These are both fairly narrow trails, pretty, some vegetation and trees and oaks which gives way to scrub as the elevation climbs up the hillsides. If you have good trail horses they won't have a problem. A few rock steps but not treacherous or anything. The trails aren't epic, though, and there isn't any creeks or water out there in the hills. It can get very very hot also. There were some biting horseflies in the heat of the day. Once you've done the trails, it isn't really worth going back and doing again so prob only good for a short day trip.

Had a reservation to stay June 1st, showed up and our site was taped off, full of downed tree limbs, and marked as closed. The site has been that way for a month and people are reserving it and then showing up to no site to camp at. Tons of downed tree limbs cut and piled up all over many sites and looks like it's been that way for a while now. The sites are already small, so add in tree limbs everywhere and there's even less space to camp. We had to scramble because the camp host was "not able to find any other open sites" (we paid for a reservation online). Camp host was unhelpful and couldn't be bothered. We showed up at 1pm to see a 'gone golfing' sign in the camp host's RV... had to sit around and wait and then we were told we didn't have a site to camp at.

Great campground with some really great camp hosts. Stayed Feb 12-15, 2021. There are lots of nice trails to hike, that are also dog friendly. Gets cold at night this time of year, but there is plenty of free downed wood to burn. Right now, every other camp site was closed due to the virus. You are most likely going to have to make a reservation through recreation.gov or you might not get a site, so be forewarned. I stayed in site 12, which was at the trailhead, and I loved it, great place to people watch and chit chat with hikers. If you are interested in joining in any hikes, you can find my hikes on the "Meet Up" app under the group "Five Miles or More Hiking Group" with the times and places I'll be going. Enjoy your hiking.

If I could give it a negative review I would! The camp spots were overgrown with thorn bush plants that were dried out put holes in the bottom of our tent. There was no envelopes to fill out so that we could pay to occupy our spot there was only one bathroom open and it was absolutely disgusting not to mention no tissue paper. Then when we went to leave to pay cuz no envelopes in box, we were verbally attacked by some crazy fat man in a golf cart who threatened me and yelled and spit in my face calling me a liar about there being no envelopes. I calmly tried to tell him I'm on my way to pay the fee right now and he again got in my face accusing me of lying trying to block me in with his golf cart. I felt very threatened by this man who was full of animosity for no good reason. He then told me he was calling the cops and I said please do because your out of line and I feel threatened. So I m@ke my way towards the front entrance to find an envelope and pay so I can be done with this monster, he comes out of nowhere and is coming full speed, head on with my vehicle so I swerved away to avoid being struck by this psychopath who is still screaming at me all the while I just want to pay and leave. What a nightmare! I have lived in this area of soCal for over 30yrs and never have I had an experience on a campsite like I had with this one. I didn't feel safe not 1 bit. And the whole place has gone down hill. Several fire hazard issues nothing was up to par or ready for the season at all. I wouldn't recommend this campground to anyone. I would much rather h@ve been at...
