My husband and I spent a week at the Sophie (the sister house) at the Artist Inn and gallery. It's a duplex which has three bedrooms and two bathrooms a sunroom a jetted tub upstairs washer and dryer and a shower downstairs. Perfect for a large family girls weekend and for those who have mobility issues. The king bed upstairs was super comfortable the central air conditioning was quiet and kept us nice and comfortable. We enjoyed having breakfast and coffee in the ( it also has air conditioning) spacious sun room watching the birds and the horses and buggies drive up the road. For the most part we had the unit to ourselves but a large family did stay at the duplex for a few days and it was quiet. You'd never know anyone was next door. If you stay at the Artist Inn and Gallery you will experience the utmost hospitality. The Inn keepers(who own the property) welcomed us by filling the kitchen cookie jar with home made choclate chip cookies along with coffee tea and fresh fruit. If you stay at Inn you will be served a gourmet four course breakfast. The kitchen boasts a full size stove and refrigerator in case you would like to cook. A dishwasher is included to make life easier. And the cupboards are stocked with plenty of dishes cups silverware etc. The house is clean and decorated with class. I loved the antiques and the story behind the name of the house. For a real treat we checked out the art gallery which is inside the Inn.Bruce is an artist he provides whimsical framed pictures and books which are drawn in colored pencil with humorous captions. His work is unique and the drawings are exceptional in the way in which you feel like your actually looking at a photo. We bought three of the books. We also enjoyed the gardens outside. My husband and I looked forward coming back to the Sophie house to relax after a day of sight seeing and shopping. The location is perfect. It's close to Adamstown (the antique capital of the world) Lancaster city. For more information You may find the Artist'sInn and gallery on Instaghram and fb.(which includes a blog) Also they provide a nice website. Bruce also provides his artwork on the fb page. Thank you Artist's Inn and Gallery we had a wonderful vacation at what felt like home away from home at the...
Read moreMy husband and I recently enjoyed our 51st visit to this lovely Inn. We return as often as possible because of the welcoming atmosphere of the area as well as the beauty of the Inn and the kindness of Jan and Bruce. We have now stayed in each of the three rooms in the Inn itself and hope some day to have a chance to stay in the Old Stone Cottage, a sweet vacation home also owned by Jan and Bruce. Each room in the Inn has its own special character. My husband loves the Garden Suite with its own private porch and beautiful view down into the valley. I love the Rose Room because of its sweet charm and romantic colors. The Kris Kringle room celebrates the joy of Christmas all year long and I really like that room but it is hard to convince my husband to change from the Garden Suite. Breakfast each morning is a very special event. Jan is a thoughtful and creative cook. She uses local produce, eggs, preserves and breakfast meats and serves each course in a lovely presentation. After breakfast (or during any spare time) it's good to wander through the gallery and enjoy Bruce's colored pencil creations and his wonderful books. You are sure to wear a smile and actually hear yourself chuckling unabashedly. Walk around Terre Hill and you will realize by the friendly greetings that the local residents are happy to have the Artist's Inn and Gallery as an integral part of the community and to welcome you to the area. Jan can help you make the most of your visit since she has first-hand knowledge of the variety of places and activities available throughout the county. This is an Inn that calls for more...
Read moreFrom the moment we arrived until the sad time when we had to leave to return home, we enjoyed this beautiful Inn and our wonderful host and hostess, innkeepers Jan and Bruce. We have often stayed here, usually in the Garden Suite although we have also enjoyed the Kris Kringle room, the Rose Room Suite and the Sophie side of the Sister's House. The Garden Suite is my husband's favorite. The evening was perfect for sitting on the comfortable side porch watching the evening primrose blossoms spring to life and smelling the fresh air as it gently wafted up from the valley. We shared simple fare and funny stories. This was just what we needed after almost three months of social isolation. Jan prepared a healthy and satisfying breakfast before we had to depart the next day. Fresh local strawberries with cream, coconut almond muffins with local jam and a unique frittata that incorporated thinly sliced pears. The perfect ending to a special mini-vacation. Not only is the Inn a special place to stay, Bruce's art is displayed throughout. His work consists mainly of humorous takes on events of daily life, including many centered around beloved family pets. It is always a treat to roam and enjoy. Try to make it from one picture to another without smiling or laughing out loud. Make sure to check out his many books that include pictures not displayed on the walls. Happiness abounds in this wonderful Inn in a sweet...
